I think Field of Ruin and Demolition Field are a little underrated in standard right now, there's a lot of people who have gotten far too greedy about their basic count
Couldn't agree more. Between some people getting greedy with their basic count, and the large volume of good creature lands (cottage, workshop, vents, anchorage) and utility lands (Mirrex, Cavern of Souls, that one land that taps for two mana for land abilities) I always have 2-3 Field of Ruins/Demolition Fields in my deck.
I have observed people are way too trigger happy on their field of ruin, blowing up dual lands for no reason when i have a mirrex waiting in hand. But yes field of ruin is real nice against some decks, especially if you're control and cavern of souls hoses your counters.
If you do try the mindsplice apparatus deck, consider splashing red for big Chandra and the extra turn spell (alchemist’s gambit). Spending 3 mana to take an extra turn is ok, doubling it is bonkers
Caverns make counters so bad, it's almost better to just main Noncreature Counters and swap out other counters for Removal or Sweeping. I've seen a top 8 Azorius build that straight up Main Decked a few Temporary Lockdowns and Elspeth's Smite.
I love my pia nalaar deck so much that I refuse to play it. I keep my baby in the bubble so if it fails it won't reflect poorly on me and my love for it
First opponent did exactly what I do against Azorius Control in Explorer, just walked away from the keyboard and let the control player stew in their filth for a bit lol. Usually I'll just start a UA-cam video on the side and perform an action at the last second to extend the match as long as possible. If you don't want to run a win condition in your deck then let's make sure nobody wins!
what do people think about 4 x Get Lost? i have played with this card and i still can't figure out if its better, worse, or the same as Fateful Absence and whether its worth playing more than 2 copies of.
Counterspells are just so bad now in standard… might as well just have a couple strokes in the board or something and just focus on sweepers and removal

The 6 fields is a lot but then you think about how many lands control is worried about in Standard. There's all the manlands, and Mirrex, and Cavern.

I also appreciate how a well timed Field can color fix a rough draw.

With field of ruins being a necessity, control decks need a really good reason to be more than 2 colors these days.
Playing 6 field and not playing ancient tomb is nuts imo.
