Ben The Coin Geek
Old Pueblo Coin
Geek it’s $150 after July 9th, mint says we should be grateful we got this ample notice to partake before the hike. I know which hike am fonna take
Hey Ben - did you get the memo / email from the USMINT?- I got an email where new higher prices are going into effect on July 9th.
The price jumps are outrageous for virtually all products.
Your thoughts ??
Metal prices have increased recently but they are taking advantage of the true collector - they are almost saying if you don't like the pricing - don't buy it!
IMO - they are going to have to have one heck of a stock dump at some point because I am curious if they sell out of any product.
Thanks USMINT - you are pricing the average collector out of the collecting realm.
Best Wishes Ben and team for a Happy 4th.
God Bless the USA!!!
First mention I remember of "Greatest Generation" was Tom Brokaw on NBC nightly news, around the late 90's and early 2000's. That's when you had a lot of honor flights to DC to see the WWII memorial. Fun fact: the designer of the Vietnam memorial (the Wall) is still alive and last I checked a practicing architect in New York.
The prices don't bother me so much as the sheer number of different products. They are producing way, way, way too many different commemoratives, watering down whatever sense of specialness they should hold.
What, you're not excited to spend $87+ for the Harriet Tubman 2024 Proof Silver Dollar Coin?
I cancelled my subscriptions after this most recent outrageous price increase. I’m done with their nonsense.
Let's not. The price increases...I'm done with the mint now. This last round is so egregious. I can't support them.
Dropped my subscriptions after the price hike.
Happy 4th to all my FIRST buddies 🎇🎇
I love the American innovation series, especially the reverse proofs and the proofs. I have been keeping up with all of those since they came out and I have five of each.
It appears the US mint wants to compete w/ HSN for the classic market of coin collectors: old men w/ luxurious retirement savings, ultimately bequeathing their descendants over-priced collectibles.
No wonder that so very few silver proof sets are sold!
I’m actually pretty excited about the flowing hair silver metal
I see people pay $10 to $12 dollars for a Silverback and they only have .03 cents of silver... and lots of people pay two or three times spot price for a UA-camrs pours or channel round...
So people are willing to throw their money away on precious metals... but when it comes to the Mint it's in the culture to hate whatever they're doing instead of putting in the work to pressure law makers to make changes at the Mint!
And Ben is exempt from this criticism... Ben is awesome 👍👍
I really love the design of the Palladium coins, but I’m kind of priced out of those so I haven’t bought any even though they’re absolutely gorgeous.
Where is the Space Farce medal?
Been wondering the same thing myself. I have two full sets of the 2.5 oz medals, everything but the Space Force medal.
Happy Fourth but the added cost of shipping then grading hurts. The ability of dealers to get better price, and getting coins earlier, is that true?
The silver proof sets have gone up to $150 apiece now. I just saw it on the website last night.
They sent me a catalog, it went in the recycling, right where their products belong.
At the end of the day, the premiums are outrageous and few of the products hold their value.
2024 Morgans and Peace dollars are $91 each now
I would love it if they would make 35% Silver Nickels again.
I was buying the Morgan and Peace series, but the new prices may be killing that. I’m currently looking forward to the Flowing Hair Medal in silver, which may be the only piece I pick up for 2024.
Happy independence day 🎆
I cancelled all my subscriptions with the mint! Quality and price just aren't worth it! They don't have anything this year that I really want. No business from me until they come up with a low mintage beauty!
I love the amendment series and the rights series, but they only did them in platinum which means they are priced out of most peoples range
I really wish they had offered that series in silver as well
I like the bronzes they are very cool
hi ben
Bunch of overpriced products El Paso LE set going for $255 😓 ouch
When will they release another 5oz puck so i can pay $455 for it?
Hello Ben...I think the U.S. Mint has gotten way out of hand. They have too many products. When I was a young numistmatist they had the proof set, five coins, and the mint set eighteen and then ten coins. You could afford to collect their coins.
i love the design on the palladium eagles, but they cost more than im willing to spend on moderns
OK, rather than be annoying and complain, I'll offer one US Mint offering that I really like: the American Liberty 2023 Silver Medal featuring a Bristlecone pine tree on the obverse.
Innovation coins r cool
Like the only reasonably priced thing left
i'm still waiting for the space force silver medals. they said they would make one and never did... smh
For those (like me) who were skeptical, look up: "Armed Forces One-Ounce Silver Medal Subscription"
Late 90s Tom Brokaw wrote a book, The Greatest Generation - first I’d heard the phrase.
I agree the US mint is over pricing a lot of items they are selling. I think I understand why because they have an overhead they have to pay employees to make the stuff someone and so forth, but still man.
Price increase along with over production of Morgan and Peace has caused me to reduce my subscription to only one example of each. Would buy flowing hair silver COIN along with other medals if available as coins and would love some of the other precious metal coins if produced in more affordable silver.
The American Liberty series have been impressive designs that I'd like to collect, but the price of the gold examples is just insane. However to my eyes the Liberty&Brittainia version is too abstract and busy.
Just not interesting pieces this year. Last year was kind of a dud too IMO
I only buy the standard proof and mint sets and the West Point uncirculated silver eagle. Everything else is overpriced and contrived "collectables" . I would much prefer to spend the same amount and get something with real numismatic history behind it.
I have never bought anything from the Mint. They have always been way too expensive for me. Now they have lost their minds..
Nope. Never.
I cancelled my Peace uncircumcised and proof. I'll keep the Megan uncirc , but may cancel the proof.
I am boycotting the mint after this inexcusable price hike. Insanity
THIRD!
NOPE. FOURTH. APPROPRIATE FOR JULY 4TH. 🎆🎇🧨 🔥🚒🧯
Not for me, I am still mad at myself for spending $5 for 1968 proof sets
Reading comments across several posts, the mint is quickly losing customers.
Hi Ben
Price increases across the board; stopped buying from them 20 years ago; secondary market has been good.
*FIRST THUMB UP!* 👍
The U.S. Mint is straight hitting the crack pipe with what they want for silver now. Just not gonna happen. There is zero justification for such costs unless the mint workers received some kinda outrageous raise we haven’t heard about. Where’s the money going?
Ben, Our NM Code Talkers can kick your AZ Code Talkers butts! 😝
Trying to start a war Donald????? Lol
@@michaelgoodspeed846 LOL, Michael.
I dropped all my subs after the price hike. There just taking advantage of the opportunity and not supporting the actual collectors.
Hey Ben
I cancelled my subscription for the 2024 Peace uncirculated and proof. Going to cancel uncirc ASE West Point and Proof SF. Charging way too much for value
I love the flowing hair design and am planning to buy it if they don't ask too much for it. For me it would be a desktop piece, something to display and look at. That about ends the list of coins that I'm looking forward to from the US mint in 2024.
I don't especially like the look of platinum, plus I have no interest in buying any so I always pass on those coins. You'll forgive me for saying this but the great women of US history isn't super interesting to me and the designs so far have been uninspired. About the only Harriet Tubman coin that I like is the conjoined hands version. The rest are rather boring, they're just her standing or a portrait. That doesn't exactly fit since she's supposed to have been a woman of action
What is too much? It will certainly be around $100
@@machine260292 everyone seems to be a sucker for a “retread” and the new designs are embarrassing. Of course it’s just my opinion.
I’d love to know how many subscribers the US Mint has lost over their latest price hikes. The Royal Mint here in the UK is no better, except you get the added risk of milk spots from them…… 😞
Due to the prices and boring designs I have cancelled all my Mint subscriptions that I had going back to 2003.
No mic please
Sorry, silver medals are dumb. Legal tender only.
What
Way too much nonsense, reminting old designs etc. US mint feels like Temu/Wish of coins.
About one in five of the women honored in the women's quarter series are Caucasian.
I am not understanding why people are crying about a few bucks price hike when most are buying far dumber items gold bucks etc seen guy bought a waffle back silver bar for double price silver but let the mint go up 3 bucks and suddenly it’s to much so I hope they all cancel there subscriptions then maybe we will have lower mintages again
