Hundreds of years ago, a Zen Master & his student are meditating together at a strictly-enclosed Tibetan monastery that is known for its supreme excellence in teaching spiritual matters. After a couple of hours sitting together, the novice asks the Master: "Master, what happens to us when we die?" After a long, dramatic pause, while stroking his long, white beard, the Zen Master replies, "I don't know, my son." The novice asks, "How can you not know? You are an accomplished Zen Master ! The Master's laconic reply was, "Yes, but I'm not a dead one."
This event clearly happened in Sheol (Hades), not in Hell, therefore it cannot be after the judgement, because after the judgement the unrighteous will be in Hell, not Hades. I grant that we see in scripture that "it is appointed to each man to die once and then the judgement", which causes problems to our way of thinking because how could Lazarus and the Rich Man happen in between? But it definitely did and God must account for this somehow. I presume it's something to do with there being no 'time' in eternity.
@@pamelawinley Hi Pam. In the Hebrew Scriptures (i.e. the Old Testament), the word used to describe the realm of the dead is 'sheol' (or the grave). It simply means “the place of the dead” or “the place of departed souls/spirits.” Hades is simply the New Testament Greek word for it. Sheol/hades is divided into two sides, a place of blessing (where Lazarus was in Luke 16) and a place of torment (where the rich man was in Luke 16). It is a temporary place where souls in torment are kept as they await the final resurrection and judgement. When Jesus was resurrected and he went down into hades he cleared out the 'place of blessing', so that side is now empty, and the souls of the righteous at death now go directly into the presence of God in heaven. According to many. Hell is a different place, it is the eternal lake of fire where those who reject God will be forever following the judgement and it is still being prepared. Jesus tells us about it in Revelation. I hope that helps.
This IS most certainly a parable!! Any clergyman worth his salt knows this. Shoel and Hades simply means the grave, nothing more. Hell also just means the grave! This story is a parable and makes no sense for many reasons yet so many clergy use it in an attempt to prove we have an immortal soul. But what does the Bible say? “Man’s fate is like that of the animals; the same fate awaits them both: As one dies, so dies the other. All have the same breath; man has no advantage over the animals. Everything is meaningless. All go to the same place; all come from dust, and to dust all return. Who knows if the spirit of man rises upward and if the spirit of the animal goes down into the earth?” (Ecc. 3:19-21). “Behold, I show you a mystery; we shall not all sleep [die] but we shall all be changed. In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump [at the exact moment of Christ’s return], for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed” (1 Corinthians 15:51-52). “While I live I will praise the Eternal: I will sing praises unto my God while I have any being. Put not your trust in princes or in the son of man, in whom there is no help. His breath goeth forth, he returneth to his earth; in that very day his thoughts perish” (Psalm 146:2-4). “But man dies and lies prostrate. Man expires, and where is he?…So man lies down and does not rise. Until the heavens be no more he will not awake nor be aroused out of his sleep” (Job 14:10-12). “He will keep you strong to the end, so that you will be blameless on the day of our lord Jesus Christ” (1 Cor. 1:8). “Many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.” (Daniel 12:2) Jacob speaking of Joseph: “......in mourning will I go down to the grave to my son.” So his father wept for him. ( Gen. 37:35) The righteous “will be like him when he appears. At his coming” and shall see Christ “as he is” (1 John 2:28; 3:2). John would be speaking out of order by looking forward to seeing Christ “as he is” when he returns yet future, if the righteous dead will have known him in heaven long before his future coming. The saints will be like Christ only when they acquire glorious bodies “at the last trump: on Resurrection Day (Phil. 3:20-21; 1 Cor. 15:50-55). All who have not thus become “like Christ” will not attain to the Kingdom (see v. 50). Therefore, nobody could possible have entered heaven at the time of death but must await entrance into the kingdom yet future when Christ appears on that glorious Day. The popular view of death, judgment, reward and resurrection appears to be hopelessly confused when compared with the lucid texts of Scripture.

Here, Lazarus represents Gentiles who were beggars in the sense that they were lacking knowledge of God, due to God's chosen people not having shared it with them. Consider the unjust steward in the preceding parable, and Jesus overturning tables at the temple.

Peace and blessings to you All in Yeshua's Holy Name 🌿 Please take the time to read this.... Hades Consider these verses with regard to the location of Hell (hades) and Paradise then and now. In Matthew 12:40 Jesus said he would spend three days AND three nights in the heart of the earth. In Luke 16:19-31 Jesus identifies a place called "Abraham's bosom" within eyesight of a place of torment called "hell" separated by a "great gulf." In Luke 23:43 Jesus tells the thief that got saved that today he would join him in "paradise," not Heaven. In I Peter 3:19 Peter says that Jesus preached to the "spirits in prison." In Ephesians 4:8-10 Paul says that Jesus descended into the lower parts of the earth after his crucifixion and led "captivity captive" i.e. "a band of captives" when he ascended. In John 20:17 Jesus tells Mary not to touch him because he has not yet ascended to "my Father." In Matthew 27:52-54 we see that after the resurrection of Jesus, "many" of the resurrected saints wandered into Jerusalem and appeared to many. So, let's compile the incidents on this issue based upon these passages. Jesus said in Matthew 12:40 that he would be in the "heart of the earth" for three days and three nights. He told the dying man next to him on the cross that he would join him there "this day." Jesus identified such a place (paradise) in Luke 16:19-31 within eyesight of hades. Peter tells us in I Peter 3:19 that Jesus preached to these captives ("spirits in prison"). When Jesus appeared to Mary in John 20, Jesus notified her in verse 17 that he had resurrected, but not yet ascended to Heaven. Paul said that Jesus led a band of captives when he descended (to receive them) and ascended in Ephesians 4:8-10. While leading this "band of captives" from "paradise" to Heaven, Jesus visited with Mary on earth prior to delivering these saints to their final destination. Some of these captives apparently had already taken an excursion into Jerusalem while Jesus was talking to Mary, according to Matthew 27:52-54. If all of this seems to fit to you, then consider the following: Paradise in the center of the earth has been evacuated. Only the place of torments (Hell, hades) remains there. Hell will be cast into the lake of fire in Revelation 20:14. Those saints who died prior to the resurrection are now in Heaven, not paradise. The rapture of I Thessalonians 4:15-18 and I Corinthians 15:51-53 will include only those in Christ since the resurrection. Why was it necessary for the Old Testament saints to be held in "paradise" prior to the resurrection of Jesus? The answer is found in Hebrews 11:39-40: Hebrews 11:39 And these all, having obtained a good report through faith, received not the promise: Hebrews 11:40 God having provided some better thing for us, that they without us should not be made perfect. Notice the condition of the Believer since the sacrifice of the cross: I Corinthians 2:6, "Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that are perfect:" Philippians 3:15 Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you. II Tim. 3:17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works. In other words, our faith makes us "perfect" (Greek: telios - complete) in Christ Jesus, but that was not possible until the atoning sacrifice had been made on the cross. The Old Testament saints were made "perfect," but not until after the sacrifice that makes Believers today "perfect" also. Perfect here is used in the context of righteousness. Believers are made "righteous" or "perfect" in Christ as a result of his sacrificial death. That is why Hebrews 11:40 says that they (Old Testament saints) could not be made perfect "without us" or apart from us. At the point of the resurrection, all Believers (Old and New Testament) were perfected (regarded as righteous before God) through the sacrificial death of Jesus on the cross. In other words, our spiritual relationship with God is perfect.
Shoel, hades and hell just means the grace!! The place for the righteous is calledthe Kingdom of God. The lake of Ghenna is for the evil and unrepentant. Seriously how many could Abrahams's bosom hold? You are really misleading your listeners. They NEED to study their bibles and deeply investigate what it had to say about about the dead.

Death is sleep ------- until the resurrection.
Correct
According to mainline Christianity, the human soul is indestructible and there is no soul sleep. The soul sleep is sectarian idea of JW, SDA and some of the modern baptists. After all, on Easter we celebrate the victory of the Spirit over matter, and the final Resurrection will be the victory of the Spirit over corruptible matter for all.
Peace and blessings to you All in Yeshua's Holy Name 🌿

Hades
Consider these verses with regard to the location of Hell (hades) and Paradise then and now.
In Matthew 12:40 Jesus said he would spend three days AND three nights in the heart of the earth.
In Luke 16:19-31 Jesus identifies a place called "Abraham's bosom" within eyesight of a place of torment called "hell" separated by a "great gulf."
In Luke 23:43 Jesus tells the thief that got saved that today he would join him in "paradise," not Heaven.
In I Peter 3:19 Peter says that Jesus preached to the "spirits in prison."
In Ephesians 4:8-10 Paul says that Jesus descended into the lower parts of the earth after his crucifixion and led "captivity captive" i.e. "a band of captives" when he ascended.
In John 20:17 Jesus tells Mary not to touch him because he has not yet ascended to "my Father."
In Matthew 27:52-54 we see that after the resurrection of Jesus, "many" of the resurrected saints wandered into Jerusalem and appeared to many.
If all of this seems to fit to you, then consider the following:
Paradise in the center of the earth has been evacuated.
The answer is found in Hebrews 11:39-40:
Hebrews 11:39 And these all, having obtained a good report through faith, received not the promise:
Hebrews 11:40 God having provided some better thing for us, that they without us should not be made perfect.
Notice the condition of the Believer since the sacrifice of the cross:
I Corinthians 2:6, "Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that are perfect:"
Philippians 3:15 Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you.
Utterly laughable.
You don’t go to Heaven and neither will your dog
What is your aim by saying that...
@@nancyistatidharmalati2711 my aim ? What did Jesus say about it. I’m an old man who has heard people use Jn. 3:16 as a ticket, saying “I believe in Him” and people saying your dog, cat, uncle an aunt etc. is gone to heaven. You see half dressed women wearing crosses, man has made his traditions and formulas, his organizations self-righteous. Do you think you’re a believer and follower ? Read the book of Job 🕊
Neither animals nor people go to heaven
