I was def agreeing with a lot of this video and not agreeing with all because I never bought a Jose Bueno. I still have my Brandi but it looks a mess the leaves are small and straggly and this is my second one and I just don't want to fail. I tried Melano twice and just gave my second one away because it was growing stupid with tiny wonky leaves. I'm on my second El Choco I'm going to keep trying for now. My Praiso Verde went to another home and I gave my Pink Princess away too because it was growing stupid. I find myself not really going for philodendrons anymore I've been branching out to things like hoyas, rhipsalis and I'm in love with episcias.
@@boopeepope56-ey5gz Dried parsley has me weak. I was looking at mine today and shaking my head. It's not dried up but it's not all that good looking either.
The Brandi is beautiful to look at but I don’t know anyone who has grown it to its potential. I love my Jose though, intermodal spacing is tight and variegation is gorgeous 😀🇨🇦
I’ve definitely become picky about my philodendrons nowadays. I love my trailing ones, but I’m pretty particular about the rest now that I’ve had enough experience with many varieties!
@@jaclynns.jungle It really is! I feel like my plants reflect my current taste so much more now! And although you don’t do scindapsus anymore, I have a couple of your scindapsus babies in my home doing splendidly (a silver hero and a trubeii moonlight dark form). 😊

Totally agree with Paraiso Verde, Growth is awfull, leaves are soo papery, variegation looks so sick and unhealthy, I had no problems with keeping variegation but gifted it to someone else. My Jose Buono is a big bush now, 1,5 meters and growing like a weed, totally love it, one of my favorite plants. :) With velvet leaf philos I have to agree as well, they are spider mite magnets, need poles and high humidity to really grow well. Also not a fan of papery leaves in general :D
💓🧡 I completely get what your saying. Sometimes we buy a plant we absolutely loved in the beginning but things change...the growth pattern or it's difficult and we just don't love it anymore. That's ok! Especially when we have so many plants...lol
Your setting looks fabulous! Like you, I have fallen out of love with some philodendrons, and have been culling them--which is to say, I donated several to a fundraising plant sale for cat rescues. I think there was exactly one that irked me so much I did compost it. Most of my energy indoors is going to pothos/epipremnum and hoyas. Oh, the hoyas. You're a huge help there, too!
Philodendrons on my “do not repurchase” list include Melanochrysum (and the like), and any that have an unpredictable growth pattern like silver sword, ppp, and even painted lady. Those 3 get the Cinderella slipper syndrome for me! I also love your background closer to the plants! 😃🩷 🩷 🧡🧡
Yep! I feel the same about verrucosum and paraiso verde. Internodal spacing makes the plant look bare and scraggly. And the white knights/princess/wizard and pink princess crew are gorgeous, but they also get too gangly. I wish they grew like a birkin. My micans is also about to meet the trash.... Lovely plant, but I just don't like how the vines grow.😒😅

I am just not a philodendron person. I've always had houseplants, but after a big African violet/streptocarpus fixation and subsequent burnout years ago, I really put the hobby on the backburner. I started getting back into it right when Pink Princess was the "must have." I had never had a climber before and didn't know much about them, but I was able to get both Pink Princess and Silver Sword at good prices, so I tried them out. Just not for me. I didn't want to deal with moss poles, so they grew wonky and weird. (My fault, not theirs.) And I was forever tearing their leaves trying to unstick them. My PPP had really pretty variegation, but I was sick of her crap and gave her (and the Silver Sword) away to someone who would appreciate them. I do have an Aglaonema Pink Princess, who also started out as a bit of a diva, but we're getting along now and she's more my jam.
I am glad you started with the brandi and I thought I was the only one who was dealing with the issues with the ppp the white wizards and white knights etc I still want to try the Paradiso verde
I know your vid's been up awhile but if you put your "hated" plants on moss poles and keep the moss damp, you'll see a real difference in how the look & grow. The stuck leaves-get a water holding brush and paint the unfurled bit with a hydrogen peroxide/water mix. Haven't needed to do it yet but HousePlantyGoodness swears by it.
@hedgewitch59 I just don't have an interest in doing all that for plants that I don't particularly like. The ones I do enjoy growing are mostly on moss poles already! 😊
I threw your micans on a pole and it's taking off now. The verracosum ugh along with the Brandi. Parasio Verde I agree. Love it but man ugh. Lol the erubescens are really the only ones that are doing fine for me 😂 shockingly enough. Ooo that pink princess is gorgeous. Looks kinda like a black cherry almost. I bought a cutting of the orange princess and I'm glad I did. It's looking so beautiful. I think the dark leaf philos are the way to go 💗🧡💗🧡
I bought the PPP and wizard and white princess all as baby plugs, they grew great at first, and then all died. I am not sure what I do wrong, but all my plugs do great for about 6-10 months, and than I find they start to die, makes me not want to go with the plugs, even though they are fun to watch to grow, but I must do something wrong as they never get very big, and die on me. I may have to start looking for larger specimens. I did get a veracosum and am loving it for now, but again it was a baby.🧡💖
I agree with you on most of your choices. I recently gave away a pink princess that had larger leaves and on a pole. I had it 3 years. It had good sectorial variegation but continued to have those small badly formed leaves. At the same time I bought another one. It has that Thai speckled pattern of pink. I paid $75 for the first one, and $30 for the new one. I am hopeing that they have improved on the growth pattern. Maybe I am a sucker.
I agree with your shit-list for the most part! I actually like my jose buono because it's an easy grower for me. The rest? I will never buy any of them ever again unless they're massive and cost peanuts.
I won’t grow any of those either. I ended up with a burle marx & I don’t love the way it grows. But, it’s exploding right now & the leaves are gorgeous. When I feel it looks it’s best, I’ll sell it.
Philodendron white knight is out the door unfortunately I can say that the philodendron strawberry shake & pink princess are finally coming along and giving beautiful mature leaves with awesome variegation. I struggled with them for a year and a half but will say if they start heading south, it's a wrap!!! My feelings can't take it. 🧡🧡🧡💓💓💓

Thank you! 🥰
This was a good one!!👍🏽💚
Personally, I've had it with philodendron...ALL philodendron...well except my tortum. She's just big and beautiful and I leave her the hell alone because I'm afraid I'll kill her lol. All the rest hate me and my house, yeah idek? Philo's, Anthurium and Alocasias too...not on the bandwagon, big time hard pass, I just don't get the hype.🤷🏽♀️
What’s wrong with Gloriosum?
Nothing is "wrong" with it! I just don't like it!
Nooooooo. My verrocosum and el Choco are STUNNING and HUGE. I barely even deal with them and they just took off growing. The Melanochrysum though can kiss my ass lol
You must live in a great climate for them!!
I threw my ph.brasil in the trash this morning. It will not grow for me, leaves are superduper small and the shine isn't there. I've tried for 2 years to make it happy and this morning I suddenly was done with 🙈 it
Loved it really interesting.
I agree 🤦
I have high hopes for my baby PPP from you! She is doing good so far 🩷🧡🩷🧡🩷
She's got great genes!! 🩷
there was a super weird comment i tried to reply to and ask what the heck they meant but they deleted the comment as i was replying to it lmao. they said "how desperate are you? throw me under a bus? ha. good luck with that. cant make fun of us and expect loyalty." 😂😂😂 like what does that mean?? im so confused. might be my autism 😂
Who knows, the internet is a strange place 🤣
@@jaclynns.jungle i feel like it mightve been meant to be commented on a different vidoe entirely 🤣
Beautiful background
Glad you like it! 😊
Sounds like are going through a major depression episode
At least I don't sound retarded like you 👍🏻
All those plants in the middle row and on top look like the same dang plant 😜😜😜😜😜😜🙃😜😜😜🤒🤒
You can just say you don't know the differences between Anthurium species🤷🏻♀️
I think your list is pretty spot on. I was waiting for the jose buono lol. I think I bought your last one and its cute but we shall see!!! Loving the plant room!!! ❤❤❤
I hope Jose makes you happier than he made me 🤣
All Pholodendrons are on my do not buy list

I hear ya about the "slipper" situation!! The struggle is real!!🩷🧡🩷🧡🩷
It's so annoying!
Gloriosum haters club right here 🫡
I love white wizard though 🥺 I understand the frustration with the erubescens though I got rid of most of mine because they won’t grow properly in my experience without being on a moss pole and monitored 25/8 366 😅
They're such divas for a freaking Philodendron! Rather have more space for Anthurium if I'm gonna have finicky hoes 😅
@@jaclynns.jungle agreed 100%! Anthurium are worth it every time 😊
Love the background 😍
Thank you!! 🥰
