Having the Switch "but better" is honestly all I could ask for. You can ever have a conversation about the Switch without _someone_ pointing out its weaker hardware, and some games (mainly third-party games and/or rushed Pokemon games) could really use the boost in performance. And the added performance boost (which I at least _assume_ the Switch 2 will have) will let Nintendo make even more out of the system... I mean we got Mario Odyssey (which still looks amazing to this day), and that was with the LIMITED hardware. (We also finally have a proper kickstand).
One thing I see Nintendo getting right is convenience. You don’t need a ridiculously overpriced subscription service to play their games. You don’t need to do any kind of set up to get the system running. You just buy the game and play it. This is the aspect of the Switch and soon the Switch 2 that is going to win over the majority of the gaming audience, both the casual gamers and dedicated fans.
@sikosonix901 I didn’t forget. 20 dollars a year is dirt cheap compared to services other companies offer, and the service is only for online play. You can play single player games without NSO
@@KidzRuleStudios not for people on the US anyway... Also it is overpriced considering its quality and the fact that its completely feasible for it to be free (or in the case of old games, maybe you could buy them like in the old Virtual Console)
You had my attention when you mentioned Toyota. Despite not being nearly as innovative as the American car brands, Toyota has still been on top in the history of the car industry for how reliable their cars are through the past several decades since they existed (followed up by Mazda and Honda too). The evidence of this is their 2.5L engines. They can last a long time and require very little maintenance. Not to mention their transmissions are very well-built as well. Nowadays, they have CVTs, but unlike getting theirs from Jacto like other car brands, they get theirs from Aisin which they own. So as a car guy, I like your explanation with Toyota on this when talking about Nintendo and the Switch 2. It puts in a whole new perspective for me on the next-gen console.
It feels odd seeing a sequel to a Nintendo console. I know the Playstation and Xbox have been putting numbers, but that never felt like a Nintendo thing to me.
Ps2 was a unique case cause it was also a dvd player in yhe age where dvd was the hot shit, if anything its gonna be a 3ds situation where it will still be popular and maybe even outselling the switch over its lifetime since the power finally reached reasonable levels but most families already have a switch.
One of my Japanese friends says 「別に要らない」fairly often. I think Japanese (on average) don't feel the pressure to chase the newest thing -- to cave to the pressure of "investor innovation"
In that case I'd recommend his video from a few months back "MrBeast Does NOT Do Charity," the whole video is talking about the philosophical concept of charity with Dante's Paradiso as it's base and includes a quite a bit of Catholic philosophy. I was pleasantly surprised when I saw that video.
I have a few nitpicks with the design. 1. The sides of the body of the tablet being coloured to match the Joy-Cons will mean that if you decide to change Joy-Con colour they won't match your system anymore. 2. I don't know why they changed they didn't just use the kickstand design that the switch OLED used. 3. The bezels in general are thicker compared to the switch OLED, we'll have to wait and see on the quality of the screen itself. (I'm probably not going to upgrade until they make an OLED revision). 4. They have appeared to use shiny plastic on the handles of the joy con grip as opposed to matte plastic. 5. Will the larger size make the system more tiresome to use for longer periods of time? 6. I would still prefer there was a traditional D-pad option for the Joy-Cons. I don't even dislike the current control button design as it's actually better for certain games, but I wish there was at least an option purchase Joy-Cons with a more traditional D-pad, I would also prefer it if the the analogue stick on the right joy-con was above the face buttons but I understand the current design was a compromise made for tabletop mode. However, I don't see why the asymmetric design of the analogue sticks needed to apply to the pro controllers as well. I also hope we get more Joy-Con colour options this generation as, compared to the DS and 3DS generations, the colour options this generation were anaemic. I know this comment probably sounded excessively nitpicky but I'm just sharing my thoughts.
I’m disappointed that they didn’t replace the left joycon’s four buttons with an actual d-pad. I understand that the buttons are so that each joycon can act as its own controller on its side, but I’ve always found it annoying that there was never an official joycon with one.
You can always very easily buy a joycon with a D-pad, but I understand your plight because you can’t just buy a switch with a D-pad, you have to get one separately.
(0:30) Yep, I feel seen, though in my case I usually just have my Switch OLED in my handheld mode case in a drawer in my bedside table, and in my case, I'm often playing Splatoon 3, but try to get myself to play other games. (1:30) I vaguely remember another UA-cam video (so it may not exactly be true), where the host mentioned that Nintendo would often use tried and tested technologies instead of cutting edge technologies, they'd be able to get the consoles down to a price point, and they'd focus more on gaming experiences than hardware capabilities. The host said that about the original Game Boy, but I think that concept also applies to the original Switch. (2:57) I feel seen, as since 2017, I've only upgraded to new phones when my previous ones fail in one way or another. I used a OnePlus One from 2014 to 2017 before its baseband failed, then I used a Galaxy Note8 from 2017 to 2020 before its internal storage failed (and I managed to recover data before it stopped working entirely), then I used an Xperia 1 II from 2020 until 2024 when I jumped on my bed and accidentally crushed it (which broke the power button and fingerprint sensor). I really need to be more careful with my Xperia 1 VI and, as such, have been constantly reminding myself to not leave devices on the bed! Similarly, I'm continuing to play on my Switch OLED and plan to only get a Switch 2 after a new Splatoon game gets announced for it or even any other game I may be interested enough in playing to want to get a new console to play it on. (3:27) I do appreciate that. (3:45) As an example, a family member of mine bought a used 1998 Toyota Yaris in around the late 2000s or early 2010s and, true to her promise she told me, drove it until it suffered major engine failure in around 2023 or so and sold it for parts, then used the funds towards a new 2023 Yaris Cross. Going back to your iPhone example from 2:57 into the video, she had an iPhone XS Max from 2018 to 2024 and had since upgraded to an iPhone 15 Pro, then gave the former to another family member of mine who still uses it to this day. (4:10) Yep! I can't say much except that I remember seeing in some behind-the-scenes videos that Aardman Animations shoot their stop-motion animations on high-end Canon EOS cameras, and knowing how they seem to be the kings of stop-motion animation, they likely did a lot of research to find the right camera and lens combination. Edit: This video reminded me of why I seem to favour Asian and European design influences in some of the tech ideas I dreamt up in recent years.
held off on the Switch for the joy con drift issue tbh, I didn't have that with the 3ds, Wii, nor N64 so I hope that doesn't continue to plague Nintendo I WANT reliable, quality, and fun games that don't add to a stressful life
Joycon drift was easily passable with pro controllers. Still using the original pro controller and never experienced problems. Hopefully new joycons uses different mechanisms
I haven’t played anything on it myself. I like the library options better of course but I think it’s has a smaller niche. Probably won’t overtake the Switch2

It's exactly the same thing but slightly bigger. Nintendo fan boys will buy anything I swear... 8 years, for a Switch Pro and they call it a Switch 2. Unreal honestly.
I mean could call an xbox series an xbox one pro, but it's not really that. The controllers are the same, the console is still a box but bigger one. But the hardware change allows you to play new games the old hardware couldn't run, that is pretty much all that is required for a new generation.
