Paragon was the only MOBA I actually enjoyed playing and was invested in. I've tried Dota and LoL but didn't really like them for some reason, but Paragon was really fun for me. I still miss it.
It's funny to see Sonic Chronicles on this list because I just watched an interview with Mike Darrah the project lead, and he said it was one of his favorite games to work on simply because the team was really small and agile and they didn't have a ton of pressure by Sega to make it a certain way. He did say it's not their best game, but it was his favorite in terms of development.
Paragon was freaking awesome! !!! Loved the variety of characters. The changes with all those cards was weird but the game play was great. 3rd person action MOBA with detailed graphics!
Paragon was incredible. I had more fun with that game as a multiplayer than any other game I’ve played, period. I wish they would have ran with it and set aside some resources to keep it going. Unfortunately I did end up enjoying fortnite, especially as a father whose son has really enjoyed fortnite at times.
Paragon is getting a new release under the name of Predecessor and tbh same I absolutely loved Paragon. If you're on PC then there's stress tests from time to time which you can sign up to
I actually loved paragon but it just didn’t land correctly and the cards made it worse. Hopefully the revamp and the people who bought the IP for paragon. If I’m remembering what happened to it correctly
"In the span of two months, FROM SOFTWARE released..." Jan. 29 - Feb 5th is less than a week mate, not two months. They managed to release one of their worst, and one of their best games in a week lol
@@holstorrsceadus1990 Ah, k. Thanks for checking what day those dates were, I guess. You were far more dedicated to the technicality of it being less than/exactly a week than I was. The point was that it wasn't two months.
"The Quiet Man" sounds like something that could be really awesome if it was redone properly (pun not intended). Beef up combat a little bit, lean heavier on the supernatural elements, maybe the protagonist is a medium, and despite being deaf to normal life, he can hear ghosts and demons. It could be a lot more in line with something like The Exorcist or maybe even Resident Evil, where you only have limited ways to deal with problems, or possibly a slightly more grounded DMC, with some flashy magic combat and supernatural interaction, but keeping some of those serious tones in there to give it some depth. I don't know, I'd love to give that sort of thing a shot if I actually knew anything about programming.
I think they updated it to have some sounds or new game+ or something because you didn´t hear the dialog and couldn´t follow the story. You are right with the supernatural stuff. If deaf or blind people have the other senses to be stronger it would have totally made sense a deaf guy would have better super natural powers than others. For example he could have "heard" spiritual stuff others would have mistook as some background noise.
@@P4nzerk93 On release (if I remember right) it was the second play thru that gave sound. Which asks a lot of a player if the gameplay isn't strong enough to carry the game the first time around.
I posit that "A Quiet Man" is why you haven't seen a Daredevil game, even though it's a completely different limitation, it still doesn't translate well to the player. Just like having virtually no audio in AQM, a DD game would look like SuperHot, but without a great reason to.
@@joshc5309 idk nowadays with so many games having some sort of super sense or second sight they could make a DD game where the regular gameplay looks normal but you can activate a daredevil sense to "see" hidden enemies or objects
@@Captaincory1 Yeah, to a sense. The key is to make it immersive to the perspective of Daredevil. Would need a combination of other senses to counter the lack of direct sight. Of course, if Daredevil were a side character in an Avengers or Defenders kind of game, you could get away with a lot more.
“It was a massive public failure for valve and they rarely fail at anything” * *looks at Steam Machine, Steam Controller, Ricochet 2, Steam Link, Day of Defeat Source, Alien Swarm*
Man… Paragon was awesome towards the beginning, and I liked the new card system. But the execution of minions was a bad decision. Definitely mishandled, and i really miss the game because I think they could’ve made it incredible.
the execution was fine until they completely overhauled the card system instead of rebalancing stats and coming up with better passives and actives on the main cards or even bonuses for sets (like bouns stats or effects for completing a certain combo of cards) completion. The activation of bonus effects/stats for completing a card was awesome and added depth to early and mid game strategies.
R.I.P Paragon. I played from legacy map to monolith. It just kept going down hill and becoming more and more simplified. Legacy card system was so cool and unique and very customizable. I miss it so much. I would play at least 5 matches everyday.
This was actually good that these AAA game developers fail as there is nothing wrong in failure. Usually people tend to learn more from their failure and I would say this probably goes with game developers as well.
The core gameplay was incredibly fun. Was pretty much a very strategic arena shooter with MOBA objectives and in-match progression. The og deck system was way more custimizable, however stats and effects were luckluster, it just needed rebalancing and more interesting passives/actives to work well, which was what the update brought at the expense of fine tuning. Blame large game companies being run by people entirely and solely focused on easy and quick revenue for Paragon's earlydemise.
I'm glad to see some love for Paragon in the comment section. When I heard Falcon's voice even just mention it (Falcon who has been really off for the past few vids he's in imo) I yanked my page down to the comments, I had a toddler's freakout, damn near... oof..
I was surprised Falcon put it on the list too. Paragon was an underrated hidden gem in my opinion, that I still yearn to play years later and probably will for a long time.
Same. I was watching on my TV and immediately pulled my phone out to see the comments. I also peep that Razgriz patch you have. I see you too have exquisite taste in gaming.
I never complained about the og map, I loved it, I didn't like the map or card rework, in my mind they never had to change those, they just to focus on the balancing of heroes. Countes was bae and Grux... let's just say that I had to much fun with Grux at release. Man, I almost had a breakdown when they mentioned Paragon, I long for them to some day go back to it, the reworks are shit in comparation.
Way of the Warrior was actually cool for its time. It had good music from White Zombie, it had fatalities the were fun to watch, and it gave us 3DO owners an actual fighting game that was decent and exclusive to play. Sure it's not SUPER Street Fighter 2 Turbo, but it was still pretty cool for its time.
Paragon was really really good! Unfortunately they prioritized the small competitive players with to many small balance changes to Champs, instead of real good match making. Beginners could end up playing with someone whom have played from the start. Play 3 games and go 0 / 22 and you will quit. Which ment that the game died by itself. To bad; I really miss it. It was a great cross platform game.

Hilariously, two years ago someone got me a bunch of bargain-bin games. It included Fuse, Ninja Blade and Earth Defense Force. Three extremes of the "looks good, plays good, replayable" triangle.
I think people tend to forget just how different the arcade era of the 80s and 90s are from consoles. Mortal Combat was not the only fighting game. Even WWF had a Wrestle Mania game
I played it on 360 so maybe It was either a crap port or my xbox was being iffy. Cause i had similar problems with Ninja Gaiden 2. That said, the QTEs were a little much and it seemed like a Gaiden copy, but hey, i loved Saints Row 1. A copy of good can still be good :P
I still remember the 1st time I played Paragon and got excited to play again the next day only to realize that the game is shutting down. it took me about 3 days to download that game with my internet speed at that time lol. good times.
Fallout 76 should be on this list. They made a game no one wanted then blamed it on multiplayer saying it didn't work in Fallout (and by extension elder scrolls). They made Fallout into a looter shooter when all people wanted was a normal Fallout game with co op. Really sucks that 76 failing at launch will probably prevent us from getting a co op Elder Scrolls game (not ESO that is an MMO, I mean just co op)
I want to play 76 but I want to do it alone and not have someone come and ruin my experience on purpose just because they can. Or that if you want to play by yourself pay $12 a month. It really should have been in the list
Fallout 76 has been my favorite game of 21. Most people are really helpful. Definitely nothing like playing rdo or gta. I can spend hours collecting junk and chems just to stock in my vending machine to sell. And I solo all the time. The only time you really need to work together is for the “events” that a person can totally ignore if they want to.
I always say this and stand by my statement, if paragon started how it ended(monolith > legacy) and ended where it started(legacy > monolith) it would be an ESPORT game to this day! It had the potential. So much god damn potential!
Armored Core 1 & 2 were amazing games. Some of the best memories I have of gaming come from playing those games both in their singleplayer campaigns and PvP. Even went so far as to link Playstations and use 2 TVs for the first one a few times.
Not only did they constantly change everything in paragon, they completely ignored the fanbases Requests, consistently ruining they're own game and not seeing how much the fanbase was not enjoying it
You know what is super annoying in Bioware games? The dialogue options can be extremely deceiving. Think of The Wolf Among Us 'glass him' when you don't know what glassing someone means. Hell, there are mods for Dragon Age out there that tell you what the dialogue is actually going to be because otherwise you might pick a choice you'll regret.
For me, the most painful about From software is the thing they did with Tenchu saga ... still hurts, it was one of my favorite games. Even with Sekiro's first teaser trailer, for a moment I thought they would finally give a closure to the Tenchu story but nope and don't get me wrong, Sekiro is an excellent game... but ooh I miss those games
I loved the first tenchu on ps1 it was brilliant ...if you want a game that plays quite similarly try aragami 2 off xbox gamepass....it plays very like tenchu...graphics arnt great but the game play is quite slick and you can play form master ninja system similar to tenchu :-)
I adored Tenchu, the gameplay was awesome for the time and the voice acting was absolutely hilarious, even back then when games dialogue was awful (Resident Evil was around the same time) it stood out as being especially naff, and I loved it for that. If you haven't already tried it, check out Aragami, or even better, Aragami 2. Closest thing to Tenchu I've ever played, very very much like it. I had a real nostalgia hit playing through #2 recently, it just lacked the bad voice acting and wacky wobbly boss fights
Paragon would have taken over League of Legend’s throne easily in a short time, it already came at number 2 if I remember correctly as the most played MOBA game in 2016, but needed better attention. The management destroyed it. And Fortnite finished the job as it got em’ more money. Paragon had some of the best graphics and mechanics in the world in 2016, was on another level and was something unexpected for MOBA genre and Multiplayer games.
Bringing up Paragon really hit hard... Really loved the first iteration of the game. Would have followed it to the end. Paragon could have legitimately been huge. But yeah. Constant reworks, each worse than the last. And then Fortnite. 😐 *Sigh*
Wow, I forgot about Ninja Blade. I didn't know it was made by From Software. FUSE, ah yes, the promising game that ended up as horrible game that seemingly changed its cool idea into a game designed to fit the current trends at the time.
Yeah, the packaging of Fuse looked pretty cool so I got it... but the game was pretty boring, it wasn't a bad game by any means, but it was completely forgettable and I didn't see a reason to play it after I completed it once.
Paragon was good when it started. After too many adds and takeaways the balance ended up being off. When it started it felt like you could use any character. After that certain characters became almost necessary to win a match. I would try it again if it came back though
I may b one of the few ppl in the world that doesn’t like fortnite or pretty much any online multiplayer games lol…I’m a dinosaur from a far away time that prefers couch co op and actually having a “real” friend to sit with n play like the olden days..but loved the vid man as usual👍
Everyone talks about how they miss Paragon, but then when you talk to someone about Paragon they complain about the card system, I personally loved the card system and I really didn't mind the massive revamps they were doing with the systems, there was occasionally bad ones that were more bugs. like deathcrawler/Grux 1-shotting people, but overall I wish the game stuck around. there are a few remakes using Paragons assets in the works, but they look like they're just trying really hard to take out the cards and make it into items like all other MOBAS because most MOBA players don't wanna learn things they just want more of the same MOBAS they've been already playing and is the reason the new reworked Paragon games aren't going to last People remember Paragon being awesome, and that means the systems that people complained about probably had something to do with that feeling, as much as alot of them want to say the card system was garbage, if you take that away, the game was no longer a unique experience, it was just a 3rd person moba
Because it isn't actually bad? Modern Fallout manages to decently translate into the MMO platform. Most of the things that hurt 76 are the same things that hurt all other MMOs.
76 is actually a lot of fun at this point. I got it the day it released and was really disappointed and quit but I came back 3 years on and it’s actually a pretty awesome game now.
Years down the road, I think I can finally say this. Working QA for "Devil's Turd" at Nintendo of America not only ended any desire for working for them ever again, but ended my career in game development altogether. When I consider that my first two projects in the game industry were testing "LOZ: Ocarina of Time" and "Pokemon Yellow" and finally ending up on that.... (any further discussion would be a violation of my NDA other than to say in my personal opinion it was an awful game, with a main story that seemed written as validation for people who hate games.)
Dude, I would never work for Nintendo of America so long as Reggie was in charge. Holy crap, so many bad decisions were made under his command that borderline made me almost give up on Nintendo entirely. So glad they have since wised up. I can't blame you for walking, I would do the same.
Resident Evil Operation Racoon City is good if you remove the Resident Evil from its title. No seriously that game is so unique and there's nothing like it, and I like the you vs zombies vs AI mechanic. Its basically a 3 way skirmish
I remember when it 1st came out, I was pretty excited, HUNK, Leon, back on the RC streets, but ya extremely disappointed, like 6 missions, I feel if they put another solid year into it, it would've went crazy cause like the idea of your teammates getting infected and then turning against you was pretty fire, but ya felt rushed
I remember when this game first came out, I had my father buy it for me. It was so terrible that when I tried to play it,and was so disappointed it it, my father vowed to never buy me another game. This was a wretched game
To be fair with it, it was supposed to be very experimental, and sold for cheap, so I have nothing against it. It's just a failed attempt at something new.
I just have to say, I love how you properly pronounced Sekiro. The bane of my existence is hearing people try to say the title of that game and just absolutely butchering it. Especially if the commentator has a British accent, it's like nails on a chalkboard for me. So again, thank you. Sincerely, from somebody who thinks it's really not that hard to say Sekiro.
7:55 man, these days "Critic reviews" don't mean literally anything. These reviewers aren't criticizing games and just basically praising everything all the time. More independent source such as youtubers or friends are way way better indicator of game quality.
Wait, no Blizzard reference? VGC : Diablo Immortal’s score now means Blizzard has achieved the unenviable feat of releasing 0.X user-scored games in three subsequent years (2020- Warcraft III: Reforged, 2021-re-release of World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade and 2022-Diablo Immortal).
Me too, its sad because I really liked that game and I was really good as Greystone and Khaimera and I was very competent with the oders. I'm following every "new Paragon", but I only could play Fault, but its not like Paragon, at least when I played last year, the community are saying that Predecessor is the one, but until now I didn't have the chance to play. I really hope to see some game that can be the next Paragon.
man... I'm so bummed about Umbrella Corps, cause I KEEP saying RE6 had THE BEST ACTION and satisfying gameplay and SHOULD been a NEW action game instead of attached to RE, where I loved Operation Racoon City, because it had that feeling (in the vain of Tenchu Z and AC:Unity) with the optimal dungeon diving, only its co op action.
I was going to not point out any glaring flaws in this vid until a 3rd person shooter was repeatedly labeled an "FPS". My theory that Gameranx purposefully inserts such easy-to-spot errors in order to generate comments (like this one) continues to gain momentum. Your evil plan has worked, Falcon. Not only have I commented here, but you've ensured I watch every video and comment about every obvious mistake in the script. I salute your cunning, sir.

I feel the same way My friend- and on top it hurts even more when i think about how much skins i‘ve bought
Man I really liked paragon as well it was the only Moba i was interested in.
Same bro it needs to come back. It was a moba that I truly enjoyed
Paragon was the only MOBA I actually enjoyed playing and was invested in. I've tried Dota and LoL but didn't really like them for some reason, but Paragon was really fun for me. I still miss it.
playing regular MOBAs after Paragon felt kinda lame not gonna lie.
☝️
It's funny to see Sonic Chronicles on this list because I just watched an interview with Mike Darrah the project lead, and he said it was one of his favorite games to work on simply because the team was really small and agile and they didn't have a ton of pressure by Sega to make it a certain way. He did say it's not their best game, but it was his favorite in terms of development.
it had ambition, but that was about it.
Nobody purchased it, they released the assets and there are three games currently being made using those assets

"In the span of two months, FROM SOFTWARE released..." Jan. 29 - Feb 5th is less than a week mate, not two months. They managed to release one of their worst, and one of their best games in a week lol
Same thought
I guess it shows which title they put more effort and time into
It's a week, consecutive Thursdays.
@@holstorrsceadus1990 Ah, k. Thanks for checking what day those dates were, I guess. You were far more dedicated to the technicality of it being less than/exactly a week than I was. The point was that it wasn't two months.
Ninja blade was awesome

Man… Paragon was awesome towards the beginning, and I liked the new card system. But the execution of minions was a bad decision. Definitely mishandled, and i really miss the game because I think they could’ve made it incredible.
Paragon was cool as fuck. Amazing idea , horrible execution
Miss you
the execution was fine until they completely overhauled the card system instead of rebalancing stats and coming up with better passives and actives on the main cards or even bonuses for sets (like bouns stats or effects for completing a certain combo of cards) completion. The activation of bonus effects/stats for completing a card was awesome and added depth to early and mid game strategies.
I absolutely loved paragon, I was so sad when they shut it down😫

R.I.P Paragon. I played from legacy map to monolith. It just kept going down hill and becoming more and more simplified. Legacy card system was so cool and unique and very customizable. I miss it so much. I would play at least 5 matches everyday.
I still miss my Iggy.......
This was actually good that these AAA game developers fail as there is nothing wrong in failure. Usually people tend to learn more from their failure and I would say this probably goes with game developers as well.
Not Sonic Team and SEGA apparently
man Paragon was amazing, even after the deck system rework I still loved it
The core gameplay was incredibly fun.
It was so slooooooooow
I'm glad to see some love for Paragon in the comment section. When I heard Falcon's voice even just mention it (Falcon who has been really off for the past few vids he's in imo) I yanked my page down to the comments, I had a toddler's freakout, damn near... oof..
I’m visibly upset hahah. This game deserves so much more in so many aspects
I was surprised Falcon put it on the list too. Paragon was an underrated hidden gem in my opinion, that I still yearn to play years later and probably will for a long time.

Paragon was legit until the card rework and then the eventual map change to cater to console players.

The "Definitive(ly Worse) Edition". XD

I actually liked Ninja Blade when it wasn’t crashing and the saves weren’t corrupting.
Yeah I played ninja blade back 2012 and i didn't face any crashes or save corruption. And my laptop was pretty ancient back then.
I got the Perfect Ten Achievement on Ninja Blade.
I had fun with it too
Fun fact, the spider boss in ninja blade is the same one as in Demon's souls.
Let’s not forget that in Umbrella Corps, your movement speed does not change based on stance. You will go as fast prone as do when you are walking.

The Sonic Genesis issue was simple: The GBA didn't have Blast Processing. Sega Does, Nintendon't.

The great canvas shortage
I want to play 76 but I want to do it alone and not have someone come and ruin my experience on purpose just because they can. Or that if you want to play by yourself pay $12 a month. It really should have been in the list

Fallout 76 has been my favorite game of 21. Most people are really helpful. Definitely nothing like playing rdo or gta. The only time you really need to work together is for the “events” that a person can totally ignore if they want to.
I think fallout 76 and elder scrolls online is ok but there not fun as a mmo with out friends and some times it be good not to be in a public sever
I always say this and stand by my statement, if paragon started how it ended(monolith > legacy) and ended where it started(legacy > monolith) it would be an ESPORT game to this day! It had the potential. So much god damn potential!
True! The latest changes they made made it feel like a poor Smite clone. The first versions were fun and more unique.
Armored Core 1 & 2 were amazing games. Some of the best memories I have of gaming come from playing those games both in their singleplayer campaigns and PvP. Even went so far as to link Playstations and use 2 TVs for the first one a few times.
Same here, liked the series less and less though as it went on.
I played Sonic on my ds as a kid and loved it. Never got past a certain level but I loved the world and the fighting mechanics🤷♀
I remember Fuse, it was fun because it was 4 player co-op.
Halo was 4 player co Op too
I remember Fuze. My best friend and I played it and really wished it was longer or a sequel was done because it was kind of fun when Co-op'd.
Not only did they constantly change everything in paragon, they completely ignored the fanbases Requests, consistently ruining they're own game and not seeing how much the fanbase was not enjoying it
That fucking sucks.
I actually remember Fuse. My older brother was saving for a PS4, and he gave his PS3 to me and the first game i bought for it was Fuse.
And somehow, many times you can't save just before the dialogue, so...yup.
Is anyone going to tell Falcon that the difference between ninja blade and demons souls is less than a week and not 2 months? Or should I?
For me, the most painful about From software is the thing they did with Tenchu saga ... still hurts, it was one of my favorite games. Even with Sekiro's first teaser trailer, for a moment I thought they would finally give a closure to the Tenchu story but nope and don't get me wrong, Sekiro is an excellent game... but ooh I miss those games
Im with ya there. I'd love a new tenchu, or even a complete remake of Wrath of Heaven.
Yeah that's so true
Ninja Blade was awesome totally hidden gem an a future successor to OTAGI...

Everyone talks about how they miss Paragon, but then when you talk to someone about Paragon they complain about the card system, I personally loved the card system and I really didn't mind the massive revamps they were doing with the systems, there was occasionally bad ones that were more bugs. like deathcrawler/Grux 1-shotting people, but overall I wish the game stuck around.
there are a few remakes using Paragons assets in the works, but they look like they're just trying really hard to take out the cards and make it into items like all other MOBAS
because most MOBA players don't wanna learn things they just want more of the same MOBAS they've been already playing
and is the reason the new reworked Paragon games aren't going to last
People remember Paragon being awesome, and that means the systems that people complained about probably had something to do with that feeling, as much as alot of them want to say the card system was garbage, if you take that away, the game was no longer a unique experience, it was just a 3rd person moba
