I am new to fly fishing but have fished for 50+ years. I have been watching lots of how to videos. Almost without exception they do nothing to unravel the mysteries. This video is fantastic, easy to understand, properly explained and terrific diagrams. In next to no time I now know how to set up for nymphing, what I need to buy and how to use it . Thanks
This has become my new favorite channel. Just discovered it a week or so ago. I appreciate the simplicity yet how informative each vid is! Very straight-forward, but thorough. You explain everything at the most basic level so even those who have no experience whatsoever can follow along and understand. Many channels take that for granted and either skip over stuff, go too fast, or just don't do a good enough job "teaching" the art. Thank you!
Can’t tell you how much it means to hear this. Exactly what we are trying to accomplish. Thanks so much for taking the time out of your day so share your experience with us. 😎🤙🏽 Hope you’re able to put it to the test out there on the water!
Glad you enjoyed it! No, you could just use one nymph. I guess the logic is two flies doubles your chances at getting a fish's attention and getting it to the right depth.
I'm wondering if you can use a spinning rod, 2 pound test, fly line a nymph or other fly, split shot and experiment. I always used a fly and bobber for trout on the surface towards dusk, but I would think it might work without a bobber??? Maybe a floating fly, to keep it off the bottom, maybe 12 inch leader.
So you technically could just use a regular fishing rod if you are throwing a bobber and weights? Just ordered my first fly rod, have plenty of doing rods and bait casters.
Are you still able to set this rig up with barbless flys? Or will the line connecting the first fly to the second fly slide off the hook of the first one without the barb?
Question, the diagram shows the tapered leader and tippet under water, I thought the tapered leader will float on top of the water? or is the nymph fly making the tapered leader sink lower?
I am new to fly fishing with nymphs. I have fly fished with dry flies and wet flies. However, I am confused. This sounds like bottom fishing with a casting rod, a cork and a jig, but using a fly rod. What am I missing?
Not sure what he’s talking about. I thought it was rather helpful I would just love it if it included quick tutorials for each knot and show actually tying the whole rig instead of having to hit like 5 different videos. But hey you get more views that way so I can’t really blame you! 😂

Thanks so much for the kind comment. Exactly what we are hoping to hear when people watch these. Glad you found it helpful!! 😎👍🏽
It’s a learning curve…I like dry hatches but primarily fish streamers….and wet flies
This is a criminally underrated channel. I've been fly fishing for years and I've learned a ton from them. You guys are awesome. Thank you!
haha Glad you found it helpful. Plenty more coming your way!
Where was this channel when I started! Seriously the best fly channel on UA-cam!
haha Appreciate it! Glad you're enjoying the videos.

Agreed!
I agree with this 100% Thank you @venturesflyco
I've been nymph fishing for years and this is the best teaching video I've seen. Well done!
Yesss! Stoked to hear it. Thanks for the kind feedback. Glad you found it helpful. 😎🤙🏽
I just binged so much of your content 😂 thank you!
I really like your videos . They are simple and to the point. Thank you
Glad you like them! Thanks for taking the time to let us know. Good luck out there on the water. 😎👍🏽
Are you adding tippet to tippet and the end of your leader. You guys are great. !
Adding tippet to the end of the leader to form surgeons knot. Then adding tippet from nymph 1 to nymph 2.
Another great video and explanation I need to increase my chances of catching my first trout. Great content 👍
Appreciate the kind feedback! Glad you've found them helpful. Good luck out there on the water!
Thank you so much for all the amazing videos! Learning alot from them 🤩 One questions; why do you use two nymphs? Is it a must? Thanks!

@@venturesflyco Makes sense! Thanks for the reply ❤️
Love this channel!! Great videos! Where can I pick up that hat?

I always used a fly and bobber for trout on the surface towards dusk, but I would think it might work without a bobber??? Maybe a floating fly, to keep it off the bottom, maybe 12 inch leader.
Do you need to add split shot to this rig to have it be effective?
Not if your flies are heavy enough or if you move your indicator up. Split shot is a last resort.
@ thank you!
Could I use a tippet ring instead of the triple surgeons knot?
So you technically could just use a regular fishing rod if you are throwing a bobber and weights? Just ordered my first fly rod, have plenty of doing rods and bait casters.
Yes, a light spinning rod would work fine with this rig.
Are you still able to set this rig up with barbless flys? Or will the line connecting the first fly to the second fly slide off the hook of the first one without the barb?
Im new to fly fishing. Ive been practicing down at my local manmade lake. I used this nymph set up with a strike indicator and landed a catfish, lol
Did it bend the rod in half lol
Question, the diagram shows the tapered leader and tippet under water, I thought the tapered leader will float on top of the water? or is the nymph fly making the tapered leader sink lower?
If you're fishing nymphs, you're fishing flies below the surface, so you want everything, including your leader, to sink.
thank you for acknowledging my skipping of math class. Yes you had me a little confused.
Do you not like Tippet rings?
I am new to fly fishing with nymphs. I have fly fished with dry flies and wet flies.
However, I am confused. This sounds like bottom fishing with a casting rod, a cork and a jig, but using a fly rod.
What am I missing?
What river is that in the background?
Don’t want to hot spot any rivers be dropping names online. But it’s a big river in Wyoming. 😎🤙🏽
Was wondering y not tie dropper to the tippet rather than to the first hook
Will a tippet ring work as well as a surgeon’s knot?
Yes, it will.
Can you set up this rig on a Tenkara rod as well?
I've done it and it works
Tenkara isn't fly fishing
@@NorCalsteelheadbum I tie flies on my Tenkara Rod all the time.
Does the heavier fly go first on thr line?
Says the guy learning how to bobber fish.@@NorCalsteelheadbum
How can I get your fly fishing stuff of your website. It can't ship to nz and that were I live
why do you need to attach tippet to the leader and not just use straight leader?
The extra knot ensures that the split shot doesn’t slide down to your flies while fishing.
@@venturesflyco ohhh, also can i just use a bobber stop insead of tippet?
Not your best video,
Appreciate the feedback. What didn’t you like about it?
Not sure what he’s talking about. I thought it was rather helpful I would just love it if it included quick tutorials for each knot and show actually tying the whole rig instead of having to hit like 5 different videos. But hey you get more views that way so I can’t really blame you! 😂
