You're pretty underrated, I liked how you went in depth of Thorfinn's character dev. Starting as a sweet young boy, growing into an experienced killer all for revenge for his father, then learning repentance during the farmland part. I really like how Thorfinn changes as the manga went on, he eventually ended up being like his dad, even though he had so many opportunities to kill people like Floki, Garm, hell maybe even Thorkell! People say the same thing about Giorno being an extra. When I actually watched the series he actually the reason the the plot goes forward, but allows other characters to shine which is the reason by Passione is beloved so much. So do people expect the main character hogging up 100% of the screen?
Still dont understand how his father is at least like 1.85m (6ft1) And his mother's genes consist of Jomsvikings leader's genes But Thorfinn ended up being like 1.7m (5ft7) lol...
MicMix oh I made a mistake thorfinn is actually 1.55m which is very surprising. But still, your point makes sense but most people are short due to their lack of activity. Thorfinn was doing excessive training to his body but he shorter than his mom and sister rip
Thorfinn is around 5’1 I believe, and it was most likely due to malnutrition when he was a child following Askeladd around and the farmland arc. Prior to that a guy in Iceland had remarked that he was strong for his age, being 6 years old and able to hurt 10-11 year olds, which implies that he had enough to eat in Iceland

Another great video my man! Thorfinn is such a good character, and I'm hoping that his journey ends on happy note. He may have done some horrific things, but he deserves to be happy. On your whole segment on characters changing through the years, Kenshiro from Fist of the North Star goes through the same evolution, just in a more subtle way. His hair in the beginning was bushy, something reasonable for a young man such as he; during the middle of the series, his hair has grown wild and unkempt, signifying that not only time has changed, but that Ken has changed somewhat. The final change in his design, and the most heartbreaking for me, is towards the second-half of the series. At this point, Kenshiro is unbelievable depressed, and he hardly ever smiles anymore after the events of the first-half. Still, his hairstyle is no longer unkempt. In fact, it resembles that of his eldest brother, the one that, despite everything he has done, he still admired and respected. At this point of the story, Ken is still fighting his depression, finding his meaning once more after losing so much in his life. When we see him one last time, he smiles, walking off into the desert, having taken the mantle that he was always fated for: "The Savior of the Century's End" This is why I told you to read Fist of the North Star, man!
Hahahaha my god you have sold the story pretty well man! But is this the same Kenshiro I have seen in clips? The unbeatable guy who says "You are already dead"? Why is he depressed?
@@MicMixAniTuber Spoilers: He finds out in the first arc (which is seven chapters long) that his fiancee had committed suicide believing that he was dead; and the guilt he has for his brother, Toki, sacrificing himself in order to save them, thus taking the mantle of successor from him, is biting away at him. After that, he loses friend after friend on his journey to stop his eldest brother, Raoh, from his ambition which has corrupted him into becoming a tyrant that wishes to save the cruel world of 199X via fear.
It's bc is his evolution that makes him my favorite character he simply went through so many changes and at first he wasn't even in my top 5 of characters in the prologue maybe not even 10 ever since the slave arc and the expedition arc he is my favorite by far bc he is now acting like this who is my second favorite character bc he's the best father in all of anime/manga

Excellent character analysis. I feel that Thorfinn is one of the most well-written protagonists in modern-day media. He resembles Kenshin from Rurouni Kenshin in his development except that we see this development without relying on flashbacks. Although it seems most fans hate the farm arc, I feel that it was the turning point for Thorfinn's character and wasn't necessarily bad. It still had its serious and desperate moments but Thorfinn wasn't filled with rage anymore -- and that also changed the tone of the entire series.

His depression and mentally broken arch i connect with. I have talents, i'm not a idiot, I could probably do something with my life, but for a long time, I was so mentally broken trough a series of events, that I couldn't even bother to lift up a finger to even try to make something out of myself. And that's what depression does to you. It eats you up, it causes you to make irrational stupid decisions. So yeah really looking forward to read and see more.
but I honestly think the real protagonist of the story is not Tohrfinn but the flow of the time with its violence, pain, changes and deaths, an unstoppable violent flow. That's just my opinion tho
Reason why this anime becomes more like a seinen is due to the fact this story comes from actual real world history of actual true events that happened well for the most part anyways that is, but to put it simply vinland saga is an actual real historic viking saga that really did happen and thorfinn was an actual real living human being and part of that viking saga now this is an anime tho so lots and lots of things of the story and everything was very very much chnahed for the anime story to make it into more of an anime but otherwise it is a great anime but for the most part based on true historical events somewhat
Thorfinn is powerful in terms of combat and he just gets better and better as the arcs go on but eventually he will decline because of his age. You said he wasn't powerful but im confused by wut u mean in power. If we are talking about fighting, strength, or anything physical he is definitely powerful in that regard.
People talking about I love this anime but bro the anime is written about the real life thorfinn and has the real historical data following through and that helps make it such a master piece
It's dramatized tho, in real life þorfinnr "karlsefni" Þórðarson was a man born from a wealthy family, he became a trader in his later years and eventually went to vinland with his wife There they had a son, snorri thorfinsson who is considered the first european to be born on american soil. No big story of revenge unfortunately
Hello there. People in some places are divided wether the start of the anime was better than the manga, some people say that the chronological order makes some things to not have the same impact as the manga since it's predictable and others say that this is a more fleshed out version of the manga. tbqh, the 1rst chapter was more style than substance and it isn't the meat and potatoes of the prologue in any way and I appreciate the changes and additions the anime made. What order of the story did you preferred?.
Hi there Andre! I love the manga since it is the original source but I think that the first 2 chapters are redundant and were placed there to catch the Shonen Jump readers eye. They also do spoil a certain tragic event. The anime however spoils Thors past self in the very first episode which was also a big reveal in the manga. I think that both did a great job but I prefer the manga!
I like both a lot. I like the medias res beginning for the manga cause it shows alot of what Vinland Saga is in just 2 chapters. The manga in the beginning really have to sell the series and get the reader hooked for the rest. The anime can take it slow and begins from the beginning. It's doesn't have to sell itself to anyone. The viewers most likely knew of people's high regards for the manga. It's also a bit less confusing. The point is that the manga took about 4 years to get to 'The end of the prologue' compared to the animes likely 1/2 year. The manga had to get peoples attention and interest while the anime already had it. The mangaka hadn't figured out what Vinland saga was at the time, but the anime creaters have likely knew for years. Both did there job well.

1. On every manga the style change when character age one piece db no exception and also in naruto and db we followed our protagoniste from childhood to adulthood For goku when the saiyan are introduce its explaine immediatly that saiyan look more young than human due to the fact that they are a fighting race, but look goku at the beginning of dbz and at the end (versus uub) he clearly age 2. Shonen is not incompatible with serious story (hunter x hunter, kingdom, death note and there s a lot more) so this is bullshit and arstyle mean nothing the mangaka choose the arstyle in relation to the story that he want to talk for example go look devilman the manga. MicMix I can’t wait for Savage ThorFinn
Yea but that scene in the manga where thorfinn is playing in iceland with the wooden sword,he basically gets up and beats the living hell out of the kid
Even though I'm sad about the manga ending pretty soon being on it's last arc, it was a damn good manga, definitely in my top 5.

Thorffin is by far my favorite then probably askladd
thorfinn's character development literally changed my whole lifestyle.
the same goes with miyamoto musashi in Vagabond series the development in character is clearly seen. and that's make both Vinland Saga and Vagabond manga great and personal favorite.I really liked what said in your video about the character development in the main protagonist which distinguish the Seinen from shonen, and I've been saying that for along time and its good to see someone other then me say it.
Facts
People say the same thing about Giorno being an extra. When I actually watched the series he actually the reason the the plot goes forward, but allows other characters to shine which is the reason by Passione is beloved so much. So do people expect the main character hogging up 100% of the screen?
Still dont understand how his father is at least like 1.85m (6ft1)
And his mother's genes consist of Jomsvikings leader's genes
But Thorfinn ended up being like 1.7m (5ft7) lol...
Malnutrition... A lot of malnutrition I guess. Specially in the Farmland Arc
MicMix oh I made a mistake thorfinn is actually 1.55m which is very surprising. But still, your point makes sense but most people are short due to their lack of activity. Thorfinn was doing excessive training to his body but he shorter than his mom and sister rip
It's the same thing for Levi Ackerman hes uncle is 6 feet tall but hes only 5 3 do to malnutrition
Vinland character has realism in their meta narrative
This was dope and well done, I really appreciate the hard work you put into this and the analysis you gave!

Can you make a video on the importance of Einar and how he helped thorfinn on his path of being less empty and wanting to live for something?
Sure! I am planning on making a video on Einar! I have some other videos ready for the time being though.
When we see him one last time, he smiles, walking off into the desert, having taken the mantle that he was always fated for: "The Savior of the Century's End"
This is why I told you to read Fist of the North Star, man!
Hahahaha my god you have sold the story pretty well man! But is this the same Kenshiro I have seen in clips? The unbeatable guy who says "You are already dead"? Why is he depressed?
@@MicMixAniTuber Spoilers:
He finds out in the first arc (which is seven chapters long) that his fiancee had committed suicide believing that he was dead; and the guilt he has for his brother, Toki, sacrificing himself in order to save them, thus taking the mantle of successor from him, is biting away at him.

Ooohhh thank you so much! I don't have time for that... I am working and I can only produce 1 video per week tops!
Thank you so much for your kind words. I poured my heart and soul into these Vinland Saga analysis videos. Check out my Canute: Idea of Love video and my Ending predictions video as well.

So yeah really looking forward to read and see more.
it's kinda hilarious how eren is being overrated on terms of suffering than thorfinn
but I honestly think the real protagonist of the story is not Tohrfinn but the flow of the time with its violence, pain, changes and deaths, an unstoppable violent flow.
That's just my opinion tho
Read the manga cuz his time as a slave afterward was so raw
Reason why this anime becomes more like a seinen is due to the fact this story comes from actual real world history of actual true events that happened well for the most part anyways that is, but to put it simply vinland saga is an actual real historic viking saga that really did happen and thorfinn was an actual real living human being and part of that viking saga now this is an anime tho so lots and lots of things of the story and everything was very very much chnahed for the anime story to make it into more of an anime but otherwise it is a great anime but for the most part based on true historical events somewhat
I hope they make Thorfinn larger/taller like his father Thor was
Ilove this fucking anime
Thorfinn is powerful in terms of combat and he just gets better and better as the arcs go on but eventually he will decline because of his age. You said he wasn't powerful but im confused by wut u mean in power. If we are talking about fighting, strength, or anything physical he is definitely powerful in that regard.
if you never seen someone like thorfinn, i see someone looks like thorfinn and that is almost entire seinen main protagonist that driven by vengeance!
People talking about I love this anime but bro the anime is written about the real life thorfinn and has the real historical data following through and that helps make it such a master piece
It's dramatized tho, in real life þorfinnr "karlsefni" Þórðarson was a man born from a wealthy family, he became a trader in his later years and eventually went to vinland with his wife
There they had a son, snorri thorfinsson who is considered the first european to be born on american soil. No big story of revenge unfortunately
Thorfinn needs to bath
Amazing Bro❤️❤️❤️

1.
On every manga the style change when character age one piece db no exception and also in naruto and db we followed our protagoniste from childhood to adulthood
For goku when the saiyan are introduce its explaine immediatly that saiyan look more young than human due to the fact that they are a fighting race, but look goku at the beginning of dbz and at the end (versus uub) he clearly age
2. Shonen is not incompatible with serious story (hunter x hunter, kingdom, death note and there s a lot more) so this is bullshit and arstyle mean nothing the mangaka choose the arstyle in relation to the story that he want to talk for example go look devilman the manga.
Thorfinn has a good evolution but good doesnt mean better but art is always subjectif its a good video tho (im not a hater) but i was forced to fix some of your argue
