So? Feelings are normal. And they said it had nothing to do with what she was doing in the classroom, the administrators said that. This idea that no one is allowed to have any feelings, isn't allowed to have anxiety over criticism in their job and such is ridiculous. And you have to remember, this is in Austin, one of the most liberal areas of Texas.

I would be willing to bet that she's one of the many Californians who recently moved from CA to Austin. This town is completely full of those people. They fled the destruction of their own state caused by these types of policies, and yet they're trying to create the same situation here. They either don't understand the concept of cause and effect, or they're actively seeking to bring that same level of destruction to Texas.
I live near, but not in, Austin. Ever since I first moved here quite a few years ago I referred to Austin as "San Francisco in Texas." This is largely because a sizable portion of the San Francisco Bay population has literally relocated to this town.
She's a perfect example of that.

I think teachers are legally required to allow students to sit in public schools, because the First Amendment offers freedom of speech (and a 1943 Supreme Court ruling says that prohibits compelled speech). In some cases, forcing kids to stand violates freedom of religion, as some folks’ religious beliefs are at odds with reciting the Pledge (as some see it as a violation of the Ten Commandments). Current law says the government must show a compelling interest to restrict religious freedom and that the restrictions must be minimal to achieve this end. Protecting folks’ fee fees because they’re easily offended isn’t a compelling interest.
So, legally, she is required to allow them to sit.

And it doesn't matter if they are from liberal or conservative backgrounds either. Want to get OUTRAGED? Demand that our government make it easier for older, more mature people to get into teaching. There are lots of people in their 50's who could be wonderful teachers, but there is not an easy path to become a teacher. I had to pay $5000 out of my pocket to go through a program. She's not even in the classroom for a full year but she thinks an expert on how schools should be run? If some newbie had bad mouthed me about doing my job I would have been angry also. School administrators have many more years of experience than a half year newbie. Maybe she should learn not to bad mouth her superiors.

Someone with her level of knowledge of social media use and consequences should not be teaching anything.

Why does she think she should not be given constructive criticism? Especially during her first year? Grow up!

She needs a crash course on how to accept responsibility for your actions. Good job school administrators!

Not having the kids stand for the pledge should've been the first reason to kick her out. It's America.

You didn't embarrass one of your administrators.
    You embarrassed yourself.

She's not qualified to teach. She acts more like a student than a teacher.

If she wasnt unemployable before, she sure is now. First year teacher must learn to follow rules.
