I have always said that the "tuner" makes the radio happy, It helps if the antenna is fairly close, but if the antenna is having to be brought from a high SWR it may look resonant but you may or may not be getting out well. Your terminology is correct, it is "matching" the radio to the antenna (In the old days, the tuner was called a matchbox), not really tuning the antenna. I like your little setup, ham stations can be quite compact and efficient with modern equipment.

A well known Ham mentioned tuners are just matching the coax not the antenna, a well tuned antenna should need no tuner. I took mine off

Ani if possible kindly make review and performance of nkk pa150 linear which is in your sack,. Thanks 73

An "Antenna Tuner" does not match the antenna to the radio. This is an internalized misinterpretation based on the name 'Antenna Tuner'. In fact, it will match a vehicle, consisting of [cable + antenna] to the radio. And high losses may be the result, due to reflections and mismatch in the cable.

Correct! Thank you for your reply! Your point is well taken... Regards.

You are perpetuating many of the missunderstandings of tuners by over simification and leaving out many important details. Doing so you leave with a incomplete and not correct conclusion.
The video takes an extreamly over simplified look at what a tuner does. He is right that it does make the radio see a good match. But it does not tell you what else its matching and how that makes the antenna system also tuned. Keep in mind SWR in no way indicated system resonances. Where does the reflected power go? Is it lost? Is it somehow sent back to the antenna? What is the phase of that reflection and how does the tuner protect it
And last Reflected power DOES NOT damage your radio but thats another story for another day to do with high current and voltage because the impedence is not matched
Maxwells ARRL Article Another look at Reflections or the video Standing Up For Standing Waves fills in the gaps and gives the whole picture that will explain how a tuner does in fact allow a non resonant antenna to radiate quite well.

Thank you for your reply. One thing is absolutely certain that it was an over simplified video. It was made by an 'average joe' for other 'average joes'. Not everyone may know or want to know over complicated concepts and create more confusion in their mind. Some are (including myself) happy with over simplified things. It may not be educational till the last minute detail but it may also not be way off too. Those who wish to dive deep into the subject may do so as per their interest. I am in no way an expert or I never claim to be one.

Thanks for your reply once again!

Well done on making the video, however as mentioned previously in the comments there are some important omissions. 73
