I really like that you truly understand the DIYer. And you don't just say "grab this and this..." You show the item or show how to use it in detail. The fact that you say it's OK to be budget friendly when you start or that you can go all out makes learning welding enjoyable. Thanks for taking the time to share your passion and the spirit of DIY. Have really enjoyed learning to Flux Core Weld. Iooking forward to the first welding proj vid. Que'uvole, from BK CA
I’m 52 and just getting started in welding. Purchased the Titanium 125 Flux welder, Titanium Auto Darkening Helmet, Harbor Freight folding welding table and welding cart. Plus already purchased everything on your list and then some. I’ve been watching a lot of your videos, thank you for making them.
@@jessihawkins9116 It does everything I need it to do. You're not going to build a bridge with it, but I can put square tube in an angle iron together all day. I wish the duty cycle was a little better but it gets the job done.
When I saw those $10 angle grinders, I bought 4 of them. Set them up just like you did. A cut off wheel, a grinder wheel, a flap disk & a wire wheel. That cup wheel has a mind of its own, so I got the other style, like the ones under your displayed cup wheel. The only thing I differ from you on is I wanted a fixed shade helmet. I learned to brace my hand in the ready to weld position, flip the helmet, as soon as I pull the trigger, we're welding. I'll say this video is good, it should help a lot of people. PS I have had good results with my Titan 125 & 0.30 wire.
You sorta breezed over the welding table, and you are right. A beginner doesn't "need" one, but after I started welding more I found I just couldn't work on the floor any longer. For anyone wanting to build one, go to your local scrap yard/junkyard to source the materials. Much cheaper this route. Also, I'm heading over to the scrap yard this week to find a small steel plate. I love that portable round welding plate you have with the grounding nipple!
I hear so many people talking about getting material from the scrap yard, it makes me sad. Around here there are no scrap yards that will let us buy anything. They used to, but for whatever reason, not anymore.
Titanium 125, auto darkening helmet, gloves...been welding everything from go kart/mini bike/moped/atv frames to mower decks and sheet metal. Thats under $350 to be able to do most welding that a hobbyist/weekend warrior is going to do.
Theres some great auto darkening hoods for even as low as $35 online. My brother wanted to learn how to weld so I made him a list. Titanium 125 with 20% coupon was $120. Warrior angle grinder $10. 10 pack of cutoff wheels $5, 1 grinding wheel was $2 and a wire wheel was $5. Got a nice yeswelder auto hood for $32. Welpers were $9 and a 3 pack of gloves was 12. For under 200 bucks at the end with 6lbs of wire.
Really good advise! I wish someone would have posted a video like this when I started. That would have saved me $$$ and wasted time on gear that I really didn't need!
Great video and info. You know, alot of people talk down on Harbor Freight but I have and use alot of stuff from there. I'm a metal fabricator and work with alot of aluminum and it gets the job done. Not all tools are good for it but alot of tools are a no brainer. Especially for the price. 👍
I have also found that Northern Tool and Equipment has a really good supply of budget welding gear, too. I actually think their Klutch helmets offer better value at the same ~$60 price point.
From my experience, using nozzle dip sparingly is the right move. A small dap applied correctly goes a long way, saving you from constant purchases. Plus you definitely don't want it getting sucked up through gas line. Using too much can burn up your tip faster. Less is more in this situation.
Watched several of your videos before buying my Titanium Flux 125. Should've watched this too. I didn't realize the welder didn't have any wire. Smh. I was ready to weld something.
Saving this video for later. I have a small garage, should I be worried about starting a fire? Is there one we should choose over another? Mostly for a little do-it-yourself projects for fun
I'm just getting in to welding, am primarily interested in flux core, am going to buy myself a welder for Christmas & refuse to do business with HF anymore. Any suggestions for a beginners flux welder would be appreciated ☺️
I'm trying to decide which welder to get but I'm having trouble. I'm trying to do small to medium jobs of any kind I can possibly get. Can someone give me some input on which welder to get either the titanium flux 125, or the titanium stick 225.
If you are welding in an enclosed area with no ventilation then yes, you will want a respirator. I lift my garage door halfway open and have another door on the other side that is open for ventilation.
Dumb question that I think I know the answer to, but for flux core, you don’t have auto rated, but is that because of the slag from the flux? Asking because I’m trying to figure out which kind of welder I’d like to pick up as a beginner, and I’d likely not be doing body work on a car, but would probably later be interested in doing floor pans, a muffler, etc where the welds aren’t going to be seen. I’d think flux core would work for that, unless there’s an actual science portion I’m not thinking about, at which point, I defer to your knowledge
I'm subscribing. I've been doing some welding for a while but I want to get serious about it. I enjoyed this video and I intend to watch some more. I guess my avocation is watching UA-cam videos for information. I don't like most people who have channels. They act like ignorant assholes. Your personality is good and you don't try to "jazz" it up with a made up "personality."
Yes, I've been meaning to do a video about that exact thing. I open my garage and back door so I have a nice cross wind that takes the fumes pretty quick. This is something you should be doing with good ventilation and a respirator.
If you ask me I don't think I sound anything like him but you aren't the first to ask so maybe it's the editing style more than my voice. If asking about the way I sound sorry, that is my voice and I can't really change that. If editing then yes, I can see some similarities but to be honest not that many. There are other channels that are more similar to mine or visa versa than PF. What other of my videos have you watched? What worked and what didn't? Are you a welder or DIYer? What kept you watching, the content or video style? These are serious questions that I like getting feedback on to help put out better videos.

Just got my first welder a few days ago. Thanks for all the help. I’m having a blast with my cheap flux core welder.

You are right on. I'll actually be doing a full table build here pretty soon. Showing how I did mine.

Thanks for the feed back!
Perfect timing since they extended the parking lot sale for the 125. Great info!
That was a good sale!

Great video!! I’ve been looking for a video like this and you delivered and didn’t disappoint.
Awesome, thanks!
Thank you sir, getting a second angle grinder and the gel and spray, have a new flux core welder and I’ve always wanted to learn how to weld!
Right on, good luck!
I still use my orange angle grinder too! I wish I would have gotten 2 or 3 of them.
True that!
I need to get some of that spatter spray for the threads of the clamps.
Right on!
I have also found that Northern Tool and Equipment has a really good supply of budget welding gear, too. I actually think their Klutch helmets offer better value at the same ~$60 price point.
Great point! Thanks!
Killin it 💯💯💯 keep it up much appreciated
Thanks Lowrider!

Great video. Thank you for the tips. I just started welding, this video just helped.
Great to hear!
Kick ass! Thank you MM!
Right on!
Thank you. Do you have a suggestion on where to buy metal pieces to weld?

Pneumatic grinders are sooo nice in an industrial setting becorse they just have so mutch power
Great info.👍💪🇺🇸
I would love to win this for a Kayak Trailer build. Awesome videos!

Good tips.

I'm not a huge fan of the single pass wire they sell at Harbor Freight but it will do in a pinch
I’ve had people crap on me for my grinder from harbor freight but it’s outlasted a Makita and a Milwaukee
It is known as 'Tip Dip' in the trade, nowt like dippin your hot tip ;)
Right on!

I am bringing mine back the feed works good but it won't strike a arc
Took it back and traded it in for a nother one works good
How is it going with the new one?
Respirator?
If you are welding in an enclosed area with no ventilation then yes, you will want a respirator. I lift my garage door halfway open and have another door on the other side that is open for ventilation.
Headed to harbor freight this weekend!! 😅

my first project was a chain tensioner i used a socket extender to make it and welded it on my friends mini bike
Right on, thanks!
Excellent!
I'm going add my 2¢, get a respirator mask to keep most fumes out of your lungs.
Yes, I've been meaning to do a video about that exact thing. I open my garage and back door so I have a nice cross wind that takes the fumes pretty quick. This is something you should be doing with good ventilation and a respirator.
HF magnets are $-hit but everything else I like.
Once cleaned off they aren't too bad.
Theyre not strong at all in my experience@@-DIYPRO-
Great video! Thank you!

It's all going to a good cause! At least that's what I tell my wife!
@@-DIYPRO- Lmao I hear ya…😆
Dude why do you try soooo hard to sound like the dude from project farm…. ??? Serious question
