Nice, note paper AND graph paper!? We're in the 80's now, and I love it! lol Tip on mapping, if you go to the Check screen, it'll tell you exactly where you are by coordinates and which way you are facing.
I would say in the beginning, say when you're still under 100 hp with most of your characters, its not a bad idea to rest up in the dungeon after each battle(not returning to the entrance or fire. I really think the fire is there just to replace lost characters or trade them out). If that prompts another attack before you're fully healed, and the fight looks like it might be a challenge, simply flee and continue resting until you're fully healed and ready to move on.
Also, I think Strike is a blunt attack, while Cut and Slash are slashing damage. Thrust, Stab, and Shoot are piercing, I believe. Again, there's not a lot of info out there about this game, but going by the character sprites, I think this seems to be the case.
For the skills, if you go to the party screen, it will tell you what level a skill is at, i.e. Slash vs. Slash II or Slash III. I think it's a good idea to check the party screen every so often after a few battles just to see where your stats and skills are and compare them against the various characters you have. One character might be the best at DEX initially, but another character may overtake them over the course of a few battles, and so naturally you would then want to change who you have checking chests for traps, for example.
Well done on not losing a single character this round, and getting through a 3 wave fight! As you're getting stat and skill increases, things will obviously get a bit easier on the first floor, but getting through that initial process can get a bit taxing.
When your comfortable, if you ever notice one of your characters significantly lagging behind the others in growth for whatever reason, or you just want to see what the other classes might have to offer, you might consider talking to that guard you found at the entrance and retiring a character to pick up someone new at the campfire. Grind out a few skills on the first floor to see what they have to offer, and press on.

Excited for these videos. After the first two, a bit torn still on how cool it is vs. [the concerns we've already discussed]. Your intro said it all really. So I'm eager to see more, especially if they're still updating it.
Haha, I'm with you. I am still trying it and seeing how it shakes out, but a few tweaks could really go a long way with this IMO :D
