Omaha Driving Tour | Bellevue, NE to North Omaha

- In this week's we are going to do a driving tour from Bellevue, Nebraska to North Omaha. This tour will start in Bellevue just as we cross the Bellevue toll bridge from Iowa. We will go through Old Town Bellevue on E Mission and then proceed north along 13th Street to Downtown Omaha. As we pass the Charles Schwab Stadium, we will then go west on Cuming Street to 30th Street. We will then proceed north on 30th Street to North Omaha. We will complete our tour in the Florence region in North Omaha. Enjoy!

Born and raised a Bellevue kid with deep roots there. I haven’t been back since 03 when my mom passed and it looks like Bellevue has changed quite a bit from my earliest recollections of the town from the early 60s. I noticed the little plaza that had Hainey’s shoes is gone and a vacant lot has taken its place. Back then the downtown was a real downtown. Hesteads, Western Auto, Rexhall drugstore, of course the Roxy and its .50 cent Saturday matinee’s. Kids would be lined up clear to Erwin’s jewelry back then. There was Kiddy clothes, a Honda motorcycle shop, a pool hall, a record store and other businesses I can’t remember. I noticed the police station is gone as well and is a vacant lot. On Galvin road when it was 2 lanes there was a cattle feed lot where the apartments are now. The Cladderbucks owned it and my brother in law ran it. My hometown.

Donald, great question. I believe this was done on a Sunday afternoon. Traffic is really only congested during rush hour 4-6 and even then it is not too bad. Thanks for the comment.
