I love your videos. I feel like I need to go on a pilgrimage after recently losing my daughter. I need introspection and the space to do it. Thank you for sharing your experience and honesty.
I am so sorry to hear that Sandy. I send you my heartfelt condolences. My parents have had 3 children pass away and I know from watching them how difficult that can be. There are no words to make it better so all I can do, or know how to do, is send you love
It's nearly six years since I walked the Camino Frances and I still love watching videos to relive my great experience. This video captures the different emotions I felt, wanting to get to Santiago but being in the rhythm of the Camino that I didn't want it to stop. I'm now planning a Camino in the UK to get some stamps before walking on the short Camino Ingles. Thanks for evoking my good memories.
I'm hesitant to use the word because it is overused these days, but it's such a privilege to come with you on this journey. Not the walk itself, but your personal reflections and insights. It's truly inspiring ❤️
I love this for you Paul. What a beautiful treat for yourself! My hubby is turning 50 in a couple years and I am planting the seed for him to walk too! BUEN CAMINO!
Crystal, Seeing you grow as you walk is amazing. Looking at yourself “with curiosity and not judgement” is such an important life lesson for all of us! I am so proud of you!! As you continue on your journey, may you find more of yourself & more music!! Praying for you as you walk! 🙏🏻❤️
So bittersweet to relive those days. Thank you for these videos. Each one gives me a fresh perspective on the overall experience. Needing a gentle reminder as I start another "Camino" to embrace the unknown and be open to what it will offer me. ♥️

Very impressed with your honesty and courage to vlog so candidly about your experience and of all the Camino videos I've seen, you do this the best. Hope your feet feel better! We're planning to do the Camino Frances and can't wait to see more of your videos!! 👏😀❤
Wow thank you! What a heart-warming compliment :) I had this goal before I left - to share authentically and to be honest about all the rough and joy-filled moments. I feel like I just got an A+ !!! AND YAY to you and your Camino Partner next year - I know you will have a wonderful time.
Beautiful videos Crystal! I binged all up to this one in a day and a half!! I’m obsessed with Santiago de Compostela and the pilgrims’ Camino. I truly wish I could do it!! Love seeing your internal growth and finding your Way. Can’t wait for the rest of the videos. Buen Camino!
AWWWWW My heart felt all mushy and happy reading this comment. Thank you Maria :) I will hold you in my heart that you can walk your own Camino one day - however that may look.
Another great video Crystal. Thanks for sharing. Your poor feet and toes, they’re really copping it. Hope you recovered and set off the next day. I’ll look forward to the next video xx
Crystal - another masterpiece! Seriously, it's so great t re-live my Camino via your videos; I can only imagine the work it takes to edit each edition. I also enjoyed seeing my Camino friends Val & Claire again! Thank you from 'New friend, Cathy' ... LOL
It's been a labor of love and also the BEST way to re-live each moment! I am loving editing everything. Sadly some footage got lost but oh well. SO happy to have you in more videos to come too!
Thanks for your awesome Videos. I had the call for the Camino too and started 3 days ago in front of my home. Roermond in Belgium. 2285 km to Santiago. Unfortunately the developer of the ninja app died on the camino frances this summer. So sad. The app died with him. Keep going
(from Sharon, Australia) Well hello there Crystal, I have just come across your vlogs and have binge watched them from the comfort of my bed, given it is a lazy Sunday morning:) So far I have seen 6 in a row. My housework and washing is now calling me but thank you for an entertaining Sunday morning.
Enjoying your vlog, we were on the Camino Frances from May-July of this year. I've been vlogging as well and it's fun to see your vlog walking the same journey. Buen Camino!! 🚶♀️🚶
Your vlogs are fantastic! I have been called to do the Camino for many years, but illness has gotten in the way. I'm hoping I'll be doing it for my 65th birthday, in 4 years.
...your self-reflective moments in this clip are so touching... what heritage am I leaving in this world... are my actions aligned with my values... and with all the option of judgement you decide to be gentle on yourself... good on you, and so many blessings... 💖
Crystal, how do you arrange for your bags to meet you at the next stop? I believe there are companies - how do you find them? Thank you! Love your videos!
Good question! I used PILBEO and really liked them - no problems and easy to get ahold of. They even let me change baggage transfers last minute when I ended up walking longer distances later on. You can book your entire route online with them and make changes as you go or book per day.
@@vanhallaadventures thank you so much. I’m planning my first Camino for late April early May. I’m going solo. Considering hotels to be assured a spot each night. I love all your insights and can’t wait! Thanks again. I’m from Washington state!
I have come to realize that life is one, hopefully long, winding, amazing camino! I picture a labyrinth, a spiraling magical path. 🤩 You have been an inspiration to me these past couple weeks! Maybe I will get to share it with you sometime if we should happen to meet during our travels. Thank you for sharing your story! Stay Blessed and Buen Camino! 🙏🏼💖
Oh I love that :) It is, isn't it? As I have walked I have come to think of 'hard' things as steps to growth. That nothing I experience is inherently BAD but rather maybe a bit of a 'crunchy' step on my way to BEcoming more of ME.
I walked the camino in 2019 and had blister issues in the first week. The most useful clue I was given by experienced walkers was to coat my toes with compeed blister prevention grease at the start of each day. Once i started doing that i never had any more blisters. Some people just use vaseline and say it’s just as good. But the worst thing is to push on without taking precautions. I saw some awful feet and some people were having to cancel their trip and take trains and buses home.
Hi. What is this Vaseline? Is it a lotion/ moisturiser or petroleum jelly? Here (in my country), Vaseline is a brand and they make both lotions & petroleum jelly. Thanks!
i LOVE comped for blisters!!! I am only wandering why did you not take them all out and put them in the sealed bag??? very weight you could leave behind is great!!!!
Theres a product called Body Glide that is great for preventing blisters and rubbing. Its what I used on the camino and it was great. I don't know if you can get it in Spain or not, but I'm sure Decathalon has something similar. Deodorant can also have the same benefit of adding a barrier to prevent rub.
Oh I never heard of the deodorant hack! Thank you :) I tried body glide and vaseline (and re-applied but to no avail) HOWEVER I was not an avid walker before this and I think my body just needed to get used to it - Maybe? But thank you for writing this - I think everyone pitching ideas is helpful to me and others reading through!
I got the hat in Jackson Hole Wyoming. It is a packable straw hat and generally LOVE my hat - the ONLY drawback is that it doesn't have a chin strap but the brim was great size. I am looking for another one that is the same but with a chin strap. However, Tilly makes some great hats too.
@@vanhallaadventures I’ve seen hats made of similar material at Costco. I’ve been looking for something similar that can be packed without losing its shape. Thank you for responding.
I am struggling with my health and was curious how did u go from being super sick in Mexico to walk the Camino. Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
In full transparency, I was still a bit sick when I began. My body did not fully recover BUT it was well enough to walk. I am just now healing my gut (SIBO from the Salmonella) and have many months of gut troubles and nervous system issues since Mexico. I am trained in cellular regeneration detoxification, nutrition, and herbalism so I had decent amount of tools to work with from my schooling. I would say a good place for anyone to start with in regards to health is to ask yourself first what route you want to take. I am personally a natural health advocate that also supports western medicine when it is necessary. If you enjoy natural healing (nutrition, herbs, etc) then I would find a Naturopath who is schooled in both areas and make sure to ask for testimonials and results of past clients with similar concerns as you. I always ask for a professional's client's testimonials to ensure they are a good fit as schooling doesn't matter if results are not good. Nutrition to me is always the fore-front of any health plan though sometimes tests may be needed if there are infections, etc. I trust this helps a bit :) Everyone is so different so each route to wellbeing is unique.
Ha, I will arrive in Burgos today.....another solo female and have only met one other, tried to find some more realistic videos to share with my family to give them a glimpse, stumbled upon yours and am thankful you show the pain and injuries and wind and hills......bc they all suck and it's hard and all videos I prepped with gave no indication of allllll the negatives
Buen Camino Amy! And right?! I thought this as well and thought about that while filming so I am happy I am doing a good job. I thought people might think I was being too negative by sharing some of this but its the stuff of Camino - the rough, the stinky lol
No, you gave me life on dark days. I felt like I was the only one and it was disheartening. You showed me that yes, the camino is pain and exhaustion and brimming emotions and challenges, alongside the beauty and relationships and sights and that the camino is allllll those things together, step by step, day by day. I am thankful for your transparency and truth.
Luggage transport. You don’t need to order this ahead of time. Once you get to your starting destination they’ll help you with it though I can say I took care of mine ahead of time with Pilbeo and LOVED them!
Yes! I actually bought some and then forgot it at home which made it of no use on the Camino lol... But I will not make that mistake again in the future. They don't carry any at the pharmacies in spain that I saw.
I was actually one of the youngest at the beginning of the walk in France (I am 37) and found that most people walking were in there 50's - 60's. One man I walked with was 82! I think it really comes down to training (I actually disagree somewhat that the camino will train you that people talk about) and desire to do it. If you want to do it - I fully believe you can Amelia! I will be putting out a How to Train for the Camino video after the actual vlog series is complete (post-santiago). I think that will help you :)
Not being the brightest of people I once walked 52 miles in a single 24 hour period.....because I'm stupid. I had no blister saga. The soles of my feet ached like hell, though. And the trick to shying away from blisters? Vaseline. At the end of every evening massage your feet - especially all around your toes - with Vaseline. HAS to be done every day you intend to walk.
WOW that Is incredible! I used vaseline yet still had some blisters just not as much as most people. My blisters were the least of my problems - my crooked toes became an issue sadly :(
I love your videos. I feel like I need to go on a pilgrimage after recently losing my daughter. I need introspection and the space to do it. Thank you for sharing your experience and honesty.
