music-wise, I can hear old KoL in the rhythm section, especially in the chorus, which gives me hope. but man, I can't get past these terrible lyrics and the lead part. hopefully better lyrics on the non-singles.
It sounds like old Kol but it's just an overproduced sound. The old sound came natural look how stiff they look compared to when the sound was natural. The terrible lyrics are a sign that this isn't it. If Caleb wrote this song all you have to ask is what happened to his songwriting?

I love a lot of things about Kings of Leon, that's why it's in my top 3 of favorite bands, but Jared on the bass has to be one of the most iconic aspects of this band, every song has that iconic bass line. Mustang is a banger, can't wait for the new album
The reason they will always be my favorite band is they have consistently for over 2 decades given us a unique sound and style while writing nothing but catchy tunes. This is also while changing a lot over the years, which doesn’t go well for most bands, it’s beyond impressive.
The song sounds WAY better live! I’ve seen them 3 times and still some of the best live music I’ve witnessed. I highly recommend paying for one of their concerts. This sounds similar to their older stuff with a new twist. Gritty and high energy.
It makes me very happy that the boys already have a new album, since I was little, approximately 11 years old, I have been a fan of them, they have filled my life with poetry, positive and reflective music, I hope they include Argentina in their tour, I love them!

Ohh brings back my early 20’s their first album just released, they played paradiso. Internet and googling peeps wasnt a big thing, music was still the vibe. I took myself up to the upper floor where no one sat watching the opening act, these super chill kids dudes came to sit with me, we rocked, we laughed, cheered some drinks they left and then they were on stage a little later. I had no clue and they were just so down to earth. best memory, can’t blv its almost two decades looking forward to this album

This sounds like how they would have sounded if they had continued making music after Because of the Times and never aspired to make more arena rock commercial music like Sex on Fire and Use Somebody. I love the albums that have come out in the last 10+ years, but this is a much needed return to their gritty rock roots. Absolute killer track right here.
Sex on Fire and Use Somebody certainly went commercial, but I still think they are relatively unconventional radio songs. KoL always sounds unique, no matter what they do (with a few rare exceptions).
Man, maybe we wouldnt be able to hear this if they didnt sold out arenas around this time. The departure from the old style allowed them to grow, but im happy with the comeback.
Definitely agree with you on that one. Even though I totally love both albums #4 & #5, I always kind of jokingly referred to that as their "teenage girl" era. In that regard though, I always thought Mechanical Bull was such a slept-on album.
