I have 2-3 monts ago one modus with exactly the same behavior. Intermittently no crank no start, immo ligh on, no com, fan on... I saw that probably is missing power suply on engine ecu. So I look at diagrams and backpin engine ecu connector first and boom 3 volts and fluctuating up and down. So I find that same relay is bad. This relays are garbage. Funy is that, in my case is also missing a vin number and someone was there before me. When I gave the car back to the custumer, custumer told me that previus guy replace engine ecu. God job Luis as always and thank you for the video.
Greetings from South Africa - I got someone coming in the morning to have a look and I am going to give him pointers from this video. I bought a non-runner. Fan kicks in when you switch it on, engine light ofcourse, cranks once then does not until a minute or so when it allows you to retry. No glow plug light as well. It does pump diesel though. Weird thing though when you try to crank it only cranks for like 1 second then cuts out. Anyway I am hoping for the best when the guy comes in and I am also hoping I can solve the issue before tomorrow because I have a feeling this guy is going to charge me big time and not find the issue straight away but this video helps
The difference in the relays is that one has an internal protection diode. If memory serves, on this type of fusebox, the +ve feed to the relay coil is the opposite way round in 1 or 2 of the sockets. So if you put the relay with the diode in that particular socket the +ve feed to the relay coil will be switched to GND through the diode and not the coil - BOOM! Superb design by Renault. In the factory manual it does say we are not supposed to change faulty relays but replace the UPC. Normally the UPC rots to death on these anyway. I've seen 2 types of PCB and they are not interchangeable if trying to repair. With the right PCB swapping the 93c46 from old to new swaps the config without issue. I get a lot of SMD transistor faults on these as well.

Good Job Luis. I like dci problems because I have a clio campus dci with Delphi ddcr ecu and I do all possible experiences in this car. Configuration, reprogramming, boost, egr on off but I failed to replace the original ecu ddcr with another one dcm because power difference bad loom. Best continuation
Mate, i am just going through this problem as i had to replace the clutch and when i put everything back together the car didn't start... But because i am just starting to learn about electric i just managed to check the voltage on the fueses and on the red once (10v) i don't have power going through.. So i definitely know something it's wrong in that fuse box. In the next couple of days i will look to see if i got the same problem as yours. Thank you for this video

Very clever, who would have thought. I have been locked out of audio functions (bass, treble, left right fader and front to back fader) on a 2007 Peugeot 207 GTI 1.6 Turbo. The last time it let me in, i thought i'd experiment with the bass setting and set it to max. All i get now on the dash are 2 options under the 'audio' menu with nothing greyed out. FM band preferences and Audio CD preferences. Any suggestions...i searched your channel but am thinking of disconnecting the battery for a few seconds , please and thank you.
Hi, My modus has a similar problem. After a bit of driving all the warning lights flash up and I lose use of the headlights and indicators (and probably others) and then that usually stops after a minute or two and instead it flashes up the spanner and both airbag warnings. If I stop the car and restart the screens load up normal again but it will happen again after a bit of driving. The garage have no idea what it could be. I had the battery replaced but it hasn't helped. Do you think it could be a similar issue to yours? Also, do you know where the earth cables are? Someone said I should check those.

As far as I am aware, clip doesn't support consult... there is some Chinese clips that do, believe they are modified to accept it... This is all I know, never researched any deeper... Hope it helps!

Owner (or even previous owner) probably paid through the nose to get a new ECU placed without it solving the problem. I often saw these types of vehicles later sold because the owner put a lot of money in it and the problem was never fixed, sometimes with really minor causes: semi-loose earth line, a cold soldering in a module, or even a relay with it's own mind. Not every shop has someone like Luis sadly!
Hi, quick question , nearly all my fuse box is corroded , especially cable jacks..if i replace the fuse box is gonna make any difference..i keep getting errors on wipers(starts moving) when i signal left,right or long beam..
I can't really advise you... If you have other issues obviously is not going to fix the problem... However, if that is the problem will cure the issue... You need to diagnose it correctly... I really can't explain how moisture got inside the fuse box.. From your experience... If you change just the box ,but leave the cable plugs(jack) as they are, is it gonna make a difference? I mean you can't replace 3 cable plugs with all that wiring stuff( do you think is possible to replace the jack from wiring coming into fuse box ? )

I believe that engine has a separate module/relay just for the glow plugs... most likely is the culprit... Obviously check fuses, grounds etc... Thank you for watching!

Excellent video Luis, I like the logical way you work through problems. Could you suggest a fix or point me in the right direction to solve an intermittent starting fault on my sisters 2004 Modus 1.5Dci, K9K engine. The car has never failed to start, but it almost never starts first turn of the key, the engine usually starts after 2 to 3 attempts, on some occasions it can take 10 plus attempts to start the engine, temperature and and ambient air temperature don't make any difference, the car has been to a Diesel fuel system specialist that told us nothing is wrong with the fuel system high or low pressure delivery to the injectors, the injector leak back test was normal for a engine with 120,000 miles on it, I have yet to find a solution. Any help you might be able to give would be very appreciated, thanks for all your videos they are a big help and entertaining 👍.
Hi I guess when it takes all those attempts, it still cranking... The answer most likely will be on your live data... A relative compression test can also help... Or obviously a proper gauged compression test... Thank you for watching and for your comment!

Typical Renault problems for the issue described are: 1) a corroded mass ribbon 2) a crankshaft position sensor that is no longer sufficiently magnetic and needs to be replaced 3) a broken key

Hi, very informative video. I have same issue of continuous bleeping noise. Main ingnition relay circuit fault identified. I have replaced the main fuse box and located faulty relay as second from the right top row. However when I replace this B marked relay I have no crank or engine start, only lights up and fan comes on with warning of Low oil pressure and battery charge fault. I've tried swapping relays one by one. It's definitely the same relay but I'm stuck as no engine Start when relay has been replaced. Any help with this would be appreciated as im really stuck on what to do?
Have you replaced the relay with an exact replacement? Make sure you do... as those relays on renaults can't be replaced with "normal" relays... Thank you for watching!

Hi luis. I have a same car 1.6 petrol l. I have a similar problem. My car does not start sometime. You know when you turn the ignition on all the locks operate at the same time plus the immobiliser light comes on. Sometime the airbag light comes on. Any idea what it could be? Could it be any fuses that causing ths issue?
Great video that I wish was around in early 2018! Had the almost the exact same issue with my 2008 Megane 1.5 dci, apart from it wasn't intermittent, just one morning it wouldn't start but would turn on the fan. Couldnt find any info at the time so had a car electrician come out who had a poke around and diagnosed the issue, saying the ECU wasn't getting any power. He didnt fix it but said 'This white cable needs power' which I took literally and essentially hotwired to the battery with a fuse and a switch in the cabin, obviously I know nothing about car electrics but its worked every since - providing i remember to turn off the cabin switch! I've always thought it was odd that a single cable broken but if your issue is the same as mine I wonder if I'm just bipassing a bad relay. What was the relay you replaced? Hi i have a modus that if u leave overnight starts fine in morning most days but leaving it for 40mins or so it will slow start where is cranks and and cranks for about 40 seconds to a minute had a computer plugged in but has not thrown anything that says what it could be could u perhaps some how get in touch or help me on hear with it please

I have DF067 I have replaced the ecu kit, and still the same. But before it opened, my friend tried to open my ecu Edc17c42 to remap and broken a ceramic capacitor and joint two legs of chip 40076 bosch. And he try to started the car, and have a oil pressure fault error. I scanned with my launch x431. And I have a error code DF067 injection multiplexed emission missing..
@@LMAutoRepairs 😂 yes. I can check the lights, the speed cluster pointers, with my Launch x431 pad.. The error of the abs I was able to erase, was the battery discharged. Now this df067 error is active. I delete but unfortunately always comes back
OK... Something sounds weird... If you can communicate with the engine ecu, but the cluster reports no communications with it, then something else is going on... So, that ecu the was damaged, did you got it repaired before fit it back?

@@LMAutoRepairs My point was specific to the radiator fan going into full speed. I disconnect it during remapping as to not flatten the battery due to it's high drain on the it whilst being charged.
@@GOFIVEK8T pin 30 is 12V input voltage that makes solenoid open when needed and send the 12V to 87 pin so if you have a relay that you do not know if it is working or not the quickest test is to put a bypass between 30 and 87 this way you will give 12V to the rest of the circuit controlled by that relay.
I haven’t removed it yet your video was so helpful I had hoped I could get one without doing that. But it seems now that is what I will have to do. Thank you.

I just did a Kia Soul with no brake lights
Same type of relay controlled the ESS system and was gone

I can't replace all the plugs(jacks) from all cables coming in the fuse box
A second hand fuse box is about £50..but if i replace it and no change ..i think is no point to do it . What do you think?

Typical Renault problems for the issue described are: 1) a corroded mass ribbon 2) a crankshaft position sensor that is no longer sufficiently magnetic and needs to be replaced 3) a broken key
@@martingeck6450 Thanks Martin, I will check those items, the crank sensor has been replaced, but not for an OEM part, personally I don't trust cheap sensors, cheers again for the info.

Hi, very informative video. I have same issue of continuous bleeping noise. Main ingnition relay circuit fault identified. I have replaced the main fuse box and located faulty relay as second from the right top row. However when I replace this B marked relay I have no crank or engine start, only lights up and fan comes on with warning of Low oil pressure and battery charge fault. I've tried swapping relays one by one. It's definitely the same relay but I'm stuck as no engine Start when relay has been replaced. Any help with this would be appreciated as im really stuck on what to do?
Have you replaced the relay with an exact replacement?
Make sure you do... as those relays on renaults can't be replaced with "normal" relays...

Hi luis. I have a same car 1.6 petrol l. I have a similar problem. My car does not start sometime. You know when you turn the ignition on all the locks operate at the same time plus the immobiliser light comes on. Sometime the airbag light comes on. Any idea what it could be? Could it be any fuses that causing ths issue?
Poor contact somewhere, etc... could be many different things...
Scan the car first, and go from there...

Great video that I wish was around in early 2018! Had the almost the exact same issue with my 2008 Megane 1.5 dci, apart from it wasn't intermittent, just one morning it wouldn't start but would turn on the fan. Couldnt find any info at the time so had a car electrician come out who had a poke around and diagnosed the issue, saying the ECU wasn't getting any power. He didnt fix it but said 'This white cable needs power' which I took literally and essentially hotwired to the battery with a fuse and a switch in the cabin, obviously I know nothing about car electrics but its worked every since - providing i remember to turn off the cabin switch! I've always thought it was odd that a single cable broken but if your issue is the same as mine I wonder if I'm just bipassing a bad relay. What was the relay you replaced? And was it just in the fuse box? Many thanks, Nathan

Hi i have a modus that if u leave overnight starts fine in morning most days but leaving it for 40mins or so it will slow start where is cranks and and cranks for about 40 seconds to a minute had a computer plugged in but has not thrown anything that says what it could be could u perhaps some how get in touch or help me on hear with it please
Some live data analysis when that happens might help to point you in the right direction...
It is difficult to make any suggestions without looking at it...

@@LMAutoRepairs Realmente está lá uma referencia mas pesquisei na net e não existem ocorrências. Estive hoje numa loja de peças e eles também não conseguem encontrar a referência. Na Renault dizem que só se vende o conjunto completo. Tenho receio de lá colocar um relé "qualquer" e fazer asneira. Desculpa estar a ser chato mas não sei para onde me virar

I have DF067 I have replaced the ecu kit, and still the same. But before it opened, my friend tried to open my ecu Edc17c42 to remap and broken a ceramic capacitor and joint two legs of chip 40076 bosch. And he try to started the car, and have a oil pressure fault error. I scanned with my launch x431. And I have a error code DF067 injection multiplexed emission missing..

@@LMAutoRepairs 😂 yes. I can check the lights, the speed cluster pointers, with my Launch x431 pad.. The error of the abs I was able to erase, was the battery discharged. Now this df067 error is active. I delete but unfortunately always comes back

If you can communicate with the engine ecu, but the cluster reports no communications with it, then something else is going on...
So, that ecu the was damaged, did you got it repaired before fit it back?

Sounds like no communication to engine ecu. Similar scenario to when doing a remap.

What happens during a read and write the ECU through the OBD, is not the same...

My point was specific to the radiator fan going into full speed. I disconnect it during remapping as to not flatten the battery due to it's high drain on the it whilst being charged.

Just stick a paperclip inbetween pin 30 and 87 on the relay. Voila!

@@GOFIVEK8T pin 30 is 12V input voltage that makes solenoid open when needed and send the 12V to 87 pin so if you have a relay that you do not know if it is working or not the quickest test is to put a bypass between 30 and 87 this way you will give 12V to the rest of the circuit controlled by that relay.
