this song represents these two perfectly, like the last piece to a puzzle. this song has different meanings for the two characters, for langa’s its like him being a lovesick fool, head over heels for the boys who makes him feel complete, but it also shows how he’d be accepting and happy if reki were to reject him. it’d still hurt, but he’d understand. as long as they can be together, friends or lovers, langa would be happy. also, “'Cause right now I see all these people that love me, but I still feel alone” langa js talented and loved by many people who go to S, but when reki isnt there to congratulate him and cheer him on, there is no excitement p, no spark. hes got it bad for reki. the happier interpretation. reki’s is a bit more sad. it seems he hasnt realized his feelings for langa, so its more of a longing to not be left behind in the dust, a longing to be able to stay with langa. his insecurities are holding him back, but the want always there. “I wasn't made for you, and you weren't made for me” “You and I... we’re not a good match anymore...” he thinks they no longer work, that langa is just too far out of reach, but he still wants t be with langa. sorry, i rambled, anyway thats just what i think-

Cherry Blossom, Joe, Shadow, Miya, Snow, and then theres just the redhead who hangs out with them, or the one who’s not langa. “And that's because I wanna be your favorite boy” reki wants to be able to skate just as well as langa, maybe better even, but only because he wants to do it together. he wants to be able to be equal with langa, to be worthy to be with him. when ad*m comes along, langa realizes that he gives langa excitement and a whole ass adrenaline rush, which he craves. reki doesnt want him to skate against ad*m bc 1. thats reckless, langa could die and 2. bc he wants to be the one who gives langa the excitement of a crazy race. he doesnt want to feel even more out of place than he already does.
