Trivium is a god tier band, man. They’re my all time favorite band and I’m gonna see them in Houston July 17th! So hyped for this album, this song stomped. Alex is a phenomenal drummer, the most technical they’ve ever had in the band. My head’s gonna explode, man. I’m gonna do another Trivium album marathon leading up to What the Dead Men Say.
"Uploaded 9 seconds ago"... that was a good time to refresh lol Great song, this was my first listen too. Alex Bent kind of saved this band for me. Like, I enjoy everything they've done, but he brought some seriously proper modern metal drumming to the table in 2017 and, at least for me, it was like a rediscovery of Trivium. Edit: Also, that thumbnail of Matt.... 🤣🤣
Yeah dude. After Travis. They've gone through nothing but disappointing drummers who can neither groove or blast. Madiro, Wandtke, and Augusto were just not death metal at all.
Alex is such an intricate drummer, and its the small things you don't notice until the 3rd or 4th listen that make him such a talent. Is this Trivium taking things to the next level? Who knows but this track is frigging amazing!
Also points where he sounds a bit like M Shadows and a bit like David Draiman, but still himself. And I guess if you're being compared to some of the biggest modern metal vocalists you're doing well
He started sounding like Draiman when he produced Vengeance Falls, I didn't like it first, but with the years it has really helped Matt sound great...and I do get the Corey Taylor vibes, specially in some parts of the song
Really agree with what you said about Alex vents execution. The bit on beyond oblivion where he does that hi hat tickle on 3:19 really tickles my pickle, simple but effective 😁
TRIVIUM HAS BEEN MY FAVORITE BAND SINCE THE ASCENDANCY ALBUM. I HAVE EVERY ALBUM AND SEEN THEM LIVE 8 TIMES AND WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO MEET THEM ONCE AND THEY ARE AWESOME GUYS. YOUR GUYS REACTION IS SPOT ON MY FRIENDS, YOU GUYS ARE AWESOME 💀
Dammit you got me more hyped for the CD. I can't wait to hear Matt's vocals. It's so strong, his dedication and talent really is moving. Fuck it I guess I'm subscribing. Look forward to y'all's content.
Sounds a lot like the sin and the sentence but with alex going all out. Everything I expected, this album will be a candidate for best of the year for sure
I'm hoping the next single is heavier. Not really a fan of the chorus. The song is a grower and gets more interesting though but I can't say I'd have this on repeated listens like most of their last album. Anyways, you guys should check out the new ABR song that dropped the day before!
Jason LovesABR It's the opposite for me. The last album was a mess and I felt like much of the songs didn't have the "oomph" they usually do, especially considering Trivium is usually super locked in to their sound. This sounds great. Production is excellent, the band sounds great, and the songwriting feels much tighter. The chorus is the kind that makes me want to scream it as hard as I can, so in other words, a typical Trivium chorus. Sorely missed, since the choruses on the last album just didn't hit me the same.
@@richardsinclair7661 Idk man, none of the riffs really stick out to me. Kinda standard for them. Though I said the same thing about The Heart From Your Hate. The chorus in that one is really bland. Same with Betrayer, which everyone seems to love. Beauty In The Sorrow is another radio rocker, but I honestly loved everything else from the album. There was a ton of energy so I'm not really sure what you're talking about. In comparison to older albums?
@@jasonlovesmusicreacting882 Yeah, the riffs aren't anything special, but like you said, that's kinda the standard for them. It's what they do with the harmonizing and the other elements of the band that make the songs great. For this song, I think Matt's vocals and Alex's drumming make this song great. Plus, the solo and its tone remind me of how solos used to sound around the Shogun era. It's nice. There are also quite a few change-ups during the song. Even if the individual sections and riffs aren't great, I still think the song is. I'm not saying there wasn't energy in a lot of the songs from TSATS, it just...I don't know. It didn't feel the same to me. I know that's super vague, and about as subjective as you can get, but I'm just picky. Either way, I just want this album to be great.
@@TheOpytimusEX yeah they might not be for everyone but I like the mixture between heaviness and clean vocals. Took me a few listens to be like damn they're pretty nice haha
@@trentonandersen6634 hopefully they like the band. I admit the first time listened to them I was like not too bad. Then I listened to all their songs and love their style
In my opinion, The Sin and the Sentence was a bit underwhelming, especially the drums. Don't get me wrong, I love Alex, and he's even one of my favorite drummers of all time, but his drumming on the album seemed a bit lackluster (for the most part) compared to what he is capable of doing (e.g. Battlecross, Brain Drill), almost constrained, probably because he joined the band so close to when the album released. So, when I heard this song, I was absolutely blown away, not only by Alex's drums but by the rest of the band as well. It has me very excited for the new album!
TheDuffyLONER64 A bit shocking to hear you say that. His work on TSatS was great. Keep in mind when a drummer joins a band they have to adapt to that bands style. They cant just throw their own stuff in there and change the whole dynamics of the band.
@@TwoToeTags Yeah, that's fair. I actually listened to it again a few hours ago, and I enjoyed it quite a bit, and do think Alex's work is definitely the biggest highlight.
It sounds like this album is going to be more dialed in than Sin and The Sentence was. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the album, but it was a bit of a mess musically. It sounded like a mishmash of every era of Trivium. That might be fine for some people, but I didn't like it. It's particularly jarring coming from a band who's usually very locked into their style. Plus, a lot of the choruses on that album didn't have the impact they usually do. 99% of Trivium choruses make me want to scream them until I go hoarse, but I didn't feel like that at all on TSATS. I have high hopes for this. The production is phenomenal, the band sounds great, and the songwriting is so much tighter and flows so much better. I'm so pumped.
darkstar100x yeah for sure. I mean personally I liked the Silence album but lots of people hated it so they definitely had to win some fans back with some classic style Trivium
@@TwoToeTags it's really weird I'm not sure I wonder if there are ways to have em unlocked. I do state I dont own the song and it's for reaction and review purpose
Timeless Studio-UK I dont think declaring it means anything. We received a msg from a record label once telling us that it is an algorithm on UA-cam that marks certain videos. They made it seem like it was out of their control and that YT are the ones who select which videos to allow or block.
I wish the music video was sized bigger. I think if you fit in exactly in that red border, it would look really nice 🤘🏼❤️ love your work
Alex, my boi, didn't expected to see you here
Alex is a beast. He knows how to go along with the groove of the song and he knows how to snap off haha

They never disappoint.
I really really love their last album and luckily they did an amazing job again. That's so great :)
The Death inspired bridge was a pleasant surprise in the track, this album shapes up to be better than the previous, me thinks!
Obie better than the previous? TSATS is probably *MY* favorite album ever! (Yes I do prefer it over shogun let me be)
The drumming on this song is so fucking awesome, I love the part at 5:04 especially. Alex is so damn good.

Wow, this song blew my mind. Great drummer as well.
I never really noticed it until now but doesnt Matt almost sound like Corey Taylor sometimes? Especially during the verses.
Almost. Corey has better control IMO but yes they're almost similar haha

Every time I ear this song and when that fast double bass comes I always get the chills. This is the new song that I’m addicted too.

Trivium is sooooooo under rated. Another kick ass song.
Can’t wait for the new Trivium album
Rush,Dream theater, slayer, slipknot, and many drummers of the last generation
I feel like alex will earn a spot on that
Definitely hearing some Black Sabbath vibes on guitar. Vocals are strong. Cool video. Can't wait get this album!
