We try to go out every weekend. Some times we can only day hike but I enjoy the over niter's better. My wife and I work different schedules so we look forward to our weekend adventures together. Thanks for watching!
Each person carries bear spray found at REI. I also use Loksak from Opsak. its a light weight, waterproof, oder proof Bag for carrying food and other toiletries.
Lol! Some times I have a strong accent but I think i'm saying it correctly. Thanks for watching it was a fun hike and worth doing again! I really want to do the ridge trail that was awesome!
you should have seen this area back around 1974 when I helped cut a new trail from lunch peak to the north end of grouse creek.. rougged.. bear poop the size of a dish plate.. I was about 18 back then.. Darling was one of the greatest lakes we ever cut trails to.. one of fondest memories back then was the time we hiked into the lake from the road bottom.. about 4 miles if I remember correctly.. we came out into the lakes open area early in the morning, fog was rising off the waters with clear blue sky above the rim rock.. fish were scurrying up the small stream there.. truly God's creation.. Moose lake and Dennick are also beautiful but what mountain lake isn't.. ..
You bet it was and is something else, my memories don't go back quite that far but close, since about 1979 the first time my uncles and I did some horse packing in and around moose and blacktail lake, and, gem , Estelle, and even over as far as smith lake, spent a good bit of time and years all over that area, my dads ashes are spread on lunch peak as a matter of fact, really awesome country that place is for sure.
I live on the west side of Lunch Peak at 3350' elevation. (Less than 2 miles as the crow flies) I never leave the porch without a .44 magnum. Don't trust bear spray. Some of them made in China.
Nothing wrong with stopping several times you got to absorb those awesome views. Can't beat that dinning room for lunch.
