Reiterating what Mia said : DO NOT eat or drink out of these unless you what you're using is 100% food safe ( what she uses is not) Also super cute pottery Mia, you make me want to try it.
@@bri-kh2mh I still don’t think it would be food or drink safe because clay has to be fired in kiln. If it’s not then it will still be porous, which means no hard enough, so even if you use a drink safe varnish your clay won’t be waterproof at all.
You made a disclaimer at the end about the mugs not being food safe which is very good! (although I personally wish the disclaimer was a bit more prominent because this can actually be dangerous) I would just like to add one thing that I learned in my ceramics class that is important for viewers to know: Even if you use a food safe glaze, THE CLAY ITSELF MAY NOT BE FOOD SAFE. Most clay that requires firing usually will not be food safe if not fired. Our teacher drilled this into our heads when I took this class. There are different types of clay, some of which is safe to eat/drink out of when just air dried, but more often than not it is not recommended. If you do not have access to a kiln and want to make something you can eat or drink out of please thoroughly research the clay you are using.

Hey Mia! I have a pretty simple tip for you! I know you were going handmade and they came out lovely. I took ceramics for 3 years and I just wanted to let you know “slip” will change your game! You can also use slip to fill in when you get stubborn dents like you did on your mug!
Also, pottery “rib” tools will get things really smooth if you ever prefer working by hand but are going for a smoother finish like the wheel might provide. I never learned to throw on the wheel, but I have some pretty solid coil pots that look very smooth!
