- Seal a chimney, crown cement cracks, and bricks to stop the leaks. The flashing to the crown and the face bricks can all cause leaks. Look for these leaky areas and seal the chimney from leaking.

Very nice !!! Thank you!!!
Gran trabajo
This is a great video on how NOT to ruin your chimney. Do it right with the proper products and not some goo that with crack and leak again after a few hot summers and winters.
Very helpful thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Your the best man!
Thanks Glen. We were in Philadelphia last week doing a job and had the chance to make a bunch of videos
Another great video thank you sir and was great to see the silver aluminium paint already mixed although I do enjoy the stirring process! Lol

.
Great informing videos, don’t know how you do it I’m afraid of heights 👍
after many years you learn to to look down, but I am still afraid
Going up on Friday AM to turbo my 2 leaky chimneys - wish me luck!
a little late for me to reply. Did it work?
@@FlatRoofDoctor yes! I’ve had 2-3 snow melts and half dozen rain storms, no more leaking. The roofer that came when this started quoted $4995 for 1 chimney $3998 for the 2nd chimney to replace tiles 3 feet around chimneys, build cricket, and redo step flashing… none of those would have even fixed the chimney crowns or the leaks. THANK YOU.
You got a thumbs up from me, my friend... Cheers!
Please to expand on meaning of “fleece” please…
Would thick black bitumin do the job instead of polyseal?
What is the Lowe’s equivalent of this product?
Where do you buy that Silver Coat product?
I gota get me some turbo polly seal 😂

What material is the fleece made of. Can that fleece be used on concrete stairs repair? Thanks great video
It is made from Polyester Fabric. I have tested on cracks in a concrete driveway and it works great
@@FlatRoofDoctor Thanks
Is the fleece sold at Lowe’s.
Can you apply turbo poly over a tared chimney cap?

can you buy these products from home depot? thanks and thumbs up my man.
No, online.
How long will this last
If coated with Aluminum Asphalt paint it should last a long time. If not, the around 6 - 10 years
Can you stucco over this?
nope
Absolutely horrendous.
sure
Please don’t do this to ur chimney there is products that are made for your crown go to saver system I am a Tumi certified technician this is not allowed it won’t help it’s only a 10 year thing in this product is flammable anything happens to that your whole chimney has to be ripped apart and rebuilt
Ok, I searched for "Tumi certified technician" on the web and found nothing regards chimney's. So, certification means nothing.
Most chimneys are build by proper masons. No need to be certified by anyone.
Most chimneys, no matter how well it was build, have issues later on. The crown busts up, cracks, the flashing comes loose, the mortar grout comes out, the flu pipes deteriorate.
So to claim that some certificate is gonna make you build a better chimney, is not true. True, I see some chimneys that are amazing, well build.
Those are far and inbetween.
I would think that they cost far more to build than the average chimney.
Ice and water is the enemy of any brick and mortar. So, with that said, I believe to seal the crown and the flashing with a water tight sealant so water can not penetrate into the chimney. Cement by itself does not cut it.
What a mess
As a Mason this video is disturbing.
You are taking the easy way out and most likely charging big money.
Remove crown and pour a new crown.
Grind out weak joints and re point them with new mortar.
I personally would've taken the chimney down to the roof line and re built it.
You're only covering a problem that happens with weather , sun expansion and contraction.
Do it and Do it right
Yes, I agree. But you assume everyone can afford your method. The point is this was build right when the building went up. So, it did not last that long.. But the method I propose will buy at least another 20 years or longer if you keep the coating protected
