How To Make A New York Cosmo Cocktail | Booze On The Rocks

- Today at Booze On The Rocks, we make a New York Cosmo cocktail. This version of the Cosmopolitan takes its cues from the New York Sour by creating a beautiful top layer. You do this by not mixing the cranberry juice into the complete mixture but floating it on top. This produces a beautifully layered cocktail with all of the flavors of the original Cosmo. NEW YORK COSMO
1.5 oz/45 ml Vodka
.75 oz/22.5 ml Orange Liqueur
.75 oz/22.5 ml Lime Juice
.5 oz/15 ml Simple Syrup
1 oz/30 ml Cranberry Juice
Method
1. Add all of the ingredients except the cranberry juice into the shaker.
2. Shake with ice for 8-10 seconds.
3. Fine strain into a cocktail glass
4. Float the cranberry juice.
5. Garnish with a lime wheel.

So I have been using organic cranberry juice and it’s been a real challenge to get the look, sweetness, and “mouth feel”. I finally settled on RW Knudsen Lowe sugar/ no sucralose “75% less sugar than the average unfortified juice”. SAYING all that because of the previous statement and the layering with the orgánica has been a problem too. Anyone else experiencing this?
Hi Paul. It's possibly because of the added sugars in the juice.
