Pakman does a good job defining the Social Democracies that are found in Northern Europe but mistakenly assumes that all the "free stuff" they get comes by simply forcing the rich to pay "a little more". Sweden's top tax rate of 52% isn't just for the rich, rather it is applied to everyone making more than $62K/year (USD). In addition, they have a massive sales tax of 25%! So, it turns out that all that "free stuff" is actually pretty expensive for everyone!
It's the same in the other Scandinavian countries and in other European countries that have copied the Scandinavian social democrat model like the Netherlands, France, Belgium. Income taxes are very high and they kick in at low wage brackets. And sales tax is applied to EVERYTHING, even basic purchases like food and domestic utilities like electricity or car insurance.
@@jarvanwildrift8056 The choice between taxing people directly on their incomes and taxing them indirectly through assets was a conscious decision made by Scandinavian governments. It makes the link between generous social services and the cost pf providing them very clear. Want free healthcare and free college and great retirement pensions for everyone? Fine. We can do it, but the cost will be reflected in your income tax. This is YOUR social security, so it is only fair that YOU should make a big contribution to its cost. They also experimented with taxing wealth and assets and found that they are nowhere near as easy to collect revenue from as income and spending. Scandinavian governments don't pretend that they can have very generous social security systems at low cost to the average citizen. They have been doing social democracy since the 1930s. If there were some magic tax formula that could provide abundant revenues and with minimal impact on the average person's tax bill, they would have found it by now. Meanwhile David Pakman thinks that the USA can have amazing social security by taxing the most wealthy 'just a tiny bit more than we do already'...
@@mr.makeit4037 He did say that, actually. He said that the USA could have Scandinavian levels of social security and it could be funded by making the very wealthy 'pay just a little bit more' than they already pay. That's complete BS and totally ingenuous. Scandinavian social democracy is very very expensive to maintain and can't be paid for just by making minor changes to the US tax code for the wealthy.
Chuck Baldwin said it best in 2005. “The grim reality is, no matter whom we elect, no matter which party controls Congress or the White House, the direction of the country doesn’t change. Fundamental liberties continue to be lost, the federal government continues to burgeon, and America continues to evolve into a socialist-Fascist society.”
How are we going to fascism? We literally let in millions of illegal migrants and anybody with a pulse.. They hate this nation and want to tear it down... So much good for me but not for thee from mr pakman. Putting in partisan bureaucracy is THE play book of the democrat party. As seen by the very many examples we have seen in the last life time.
The point that infuriated me the most in this conversation was the moment Pakman said that economic growth always produces inflation. Here are some points on inflation. Economic growth does not always, by default, create inflation. While there is often a relationship between economic growth and inflation, the two do not automatically move together. Here's why: 1. **Demand-Pull Inflation** - Economic growth can lead to **demand-pull inflation**, where increased demand for goods and services outpaces supply, pushing up prices. This can happen if the economy is operating near or at full capacity and consumers and businesses have more income to spend. - However, this type of inflation typically occurs when growth is rapid, and resources (labor, materials, etc.) are fully utilized. 2. **Productivity and Technological Innovation** - Growth driven by increases in **productivity** or **technological innovation** can actually **reduce inflationary pressure**. If businesses can produce more goods and services at a lower cost (due to improved technology or efficiency), the supply increases, which can keep prices stable or even lower them, despite growing demand. - This type of growth is often referred to as "supply-side" growth and can lead to more goods being available at lower prices, which helps contain inflation. 3. **Economic Slack** - If there is **slack** in the economy, meaning there are unused resources (e.g., underemployment or unused factory capacity), growth can occur without pushing up prices. In such cases, businesses can increase output without raising wages or prices because there is no strain on resources. - For example, after a recession, economic growth can absorb this slack, leading to higher output and employment without triggering significant inflation. 4. **Globalization and Trade** - **Global trade** and **globalization** can also temper inflation, even during periods of growth. If a country can import goods and services cheaply from abroad, it can meet increasing demand without local price increases, helping to keep inflation low. - For example, growth in a country like the U.S. can be met with imported goods from countries with lower production costs, preventing inflation from rising even as domestic demand grows. 5. **Monetary Policy and Inflation Control** - Central banks, like the Federal Reserve, can manage inflation through **monetary policy**. By adjusting interest rates and controlling the money supply, they can prevent inflation from rising, even in periods of economic growth. - If economic growth is moderate and the central bank maintains stable inflation expectations, growth can continue without inflation surging. 6. **Stagflation** - In some cases, inflation can rise **without economic growth**, a phenomenon known as **stagflation**. This occurred during the 1970s when rising oil prices contributed to high inflation even as economic growth stagnated. - This shows that inflation and growth are not always linked, and inflation can result from factors other than growth, such as supply shocks. Conclusion: Economic growth **can** create inflation, particularly if growth is rapid and exceeds the economy's capacity to produce goods and services. However, growth that is supported by increased productivity, efficient use of resources, or global trade can occur **without triggering inflation**. Central banks play a key role in managing the relationship between growth and inflation through monetary policy, aiming to balance both for a stable economy.
I live in Sweden and run my own one man business. Simplified, If i charge 125 for an item, the gov takes 25% vat, im down to 100, then they take 31.5% in social fees (for being self employed) then they take another 30% for regularly taxes. so out of the 125 dollars i have as wages in my pocket, about 48.
Sweden has low taxes for assets, stocks etc though. Also no taxes after you die. I mean Sweden should tax work a bit less and assets a bit more 🙂
It's the same in the other Scandinavian countries and in other European countries that have copied the Scandinavian social democrat model like the Netherlands, France, Belgium. Income taxes are very high and they kick in at low wage brackets. And sales tax is applied to EVERYTHING, even basic purchases like food and domestic utilities like electricity or car insurance.
Sorry that's not what he said....in my opinion.

I think the left forgets the demorats are pushing society to a digital ID, digital currency and NO privacy where everything can be taken from you. Will the ones that are against an ID for bread, stand up to this same concept, as well as require a citizenship ID (aka not allowing illegals) to vote. @@eonhand8 umm, I think you are misquoting. So get your facts straight before spouting lies. Some people want to push narratives of illegitimate claims without understanding what was even said.
@@GiJoeVideo He didn't say anything like that, but let's say you are right. You need a social security number, proof of ID and residency to register to vote. So, much like the credit card example you brought up (which Trump never mentioned btw), if you are in the registry there is no need to also have an ID. So what is the narrative on that? oh wait, I know, that a person is willing to commit felony fraud to have 2 votes in a 50k vote race, by knowing the name of person who is registered but isn't voting and knowing their polling place, hope they don't look at the signature to closely and hope it's not occurring on both sides at the same rate effectively canceling each other out. David Pakman has been a pick me for over 12+ years
So much good for me but not for thee from mr pakman.
Here's why:
1. **Demand-Pull Inflation**
- Economic growth can lead to **demand-pull inflation**, where increased demand for goods and services outpaces supply, pushing up prices. This can happen if the economy is operating near or at full capacity and consumers and businesses have more income to spend.
- However, this type of inflation typically occurs when growth is rapid, and resources (labor, materials, etc.) are fully utilized.
2. **Productivity and Technological Innovation**
- Growth driven by increases in **productivity** or **technological innovation** can actually **reduce inflationary pressure**.
3. **Economic Slack**
- If there is **slack** in the economy, meaning there are unused resources (e.g., underemployment or unused factory capacity), growth can occur without pushing up prices. In such cases, businesses can increase output without raising wages or prices because there is no strain on resources.
- For example, after a recession, economic growth can absorb this slack, leading to higher output and employment without triggering significant inflation.
4. **Globalization and Trade**
- **Global trade** and **globalization** can also temper inflation, even during periods of growth. If a country can import goods and services cheaply from abroad, it can meet increasing demand without local price increases, helping to keep inflation low.
- For example, growth in a country like the U.S. can be met with imported goods from countries with lower production costs, preventing inflation from rising even as domestic demand grows.
5. **Monetary Policy and Inflation Control**
- Central banks, like the Federal Reserve, can manage inflation through **monetary policy**. By adjusting interest rates and controlling the money supply, they can prevent inflation from rising, even in periods of economic growth.
- If economic growth is moderate and the central bank maintains stable inflation expectations, growth can continue without inflation surging.
6. **Stagflation**
- In some cases, inflation can rise **without economic growth**, a phenomenon known as **stagflation**. This occurred during the 1970s when rising oil prices contributed to high inflation even as economic growth stagnated.
- This shows that inflation and growth are not always linked, and inflation can result from factors other than growth, such as supply shocks.
Conclusion:
Economic growth **can** create inflation, particularly if growth is rapid and exceeds the economy's capacity to produce goods and services.
That I use to pay for groceries that have 12% vat and anything else i cant buy on my company, has 25% vat. A lot of our taxes go to illegal immigrants that flooded our country and weren't checked properly for their asylum status.. We are not fx paying retroactive child support for people who have never and will never work in Sweden, just be leeches on the system. I wish there was a drop down menu for the taxes! I was sick with cance a few years ago, I got the full use of our health care system, for wich i paid a grand total of 300 USD out of my pocket per year. Every one one Sweden paid in to this.
