MAKING CHATEAU LOUNGEWEAR!

  • Michael and I have a habit of tackling weird and wonderful projects together, and on his last visit we decided to make ourselves loungewear based on 18th century fashions! He explored the construction of men's 'banyans' - loose, informal robes based on kimonos, and I created a nightgown, which was inspired by a design of Christian Dior...
Escape to the chateau with ’The Chateau Diaries’ 🏰
In 'Sundays at the Chateau', chatelaine Stephanie answers all your questions about life in the 16th century Chateau de Lalande, in the heart of rural France ❤️
To experience chateau life, come and stay with us at the Chateau de Lalande! We offer accommodation in beautiful bedrooms in the original 16th century wing of the chateau. You can even stay in the bedroom of the Marquise! And in the evenings you can choose to dine privately, or to join us in our chateau family meals.
For rates and availability, see our website:
    www.chateaudelalande.com
A very special thank you to all of you who have become Patrons of the Chateau de Lalande. I only launched our Patreon page 10 days ago and we already have over 100 patrons! I’ve been overwhelmed by your response, and am planning lots of renovations to the chateau that I’ve been longing to do for years! It’s such an exciting time for all of us here, as work is about to begin on the chapel and the dream of getting our lake back looks as though it could become a reality because of your help. On behalf of this beautiful chateau that will flourish because of you, thank you!!!

I feel like God had you make this video just to show me several things:
    1. Apparently it’s ok to make things up as I go and I can stop beating myself up for not following patterns
    2. I’m not the only one who gets geeked out by period clothing That I can actually use in the privacy of my home
    3. Apparently my narrow view of manliness needs to be adjusted. What an eye opener your partner is to me. Thank you. My dad and brothers would NEVER consider any project like that so I immediately assumed wrongly about your man and I’m quite impressed and thankful really.
    4. Apparently I don’t do get much. Sorry if any of #3 was offensive. God truly is opening my eyes and I truly don’t get out much.
    5. I already started buying fabric to make such lounge ware then abandoned the project when I found a second rate substitute having found a white blouse and a white skirt at a second hand shop that I put together.
    6. God has validated me.
    7. You have inspired me.
    8. You have greatly encouraged me.
    Thank you.
    9. Girly girly over the top frilly is, yes, indeed so much fun sometimes.
    10. Pink over blue. Why not. If one is going to be ridiculous then Bring It On and pull out all the stops.

I SURE you'd go for one of Marie Antoinette's chemise dresses. This looked like so much fun. I wish I had friends like you!

I only watched (again ;-) ) Pride & Prejudice last night!!! The one with Keira Knightley. Divine! I am peaking through my closet as I type, wondering in what shall one lounge like Stephanie today??? I live in a tiny house so tend to need to create in layers these days but do have an upper shelf full of bags and boxes of flouncing opportunities! I am, amongst other more businessy/normal things, an oracle reader, so dressing up comes with the territory and does indeed help to inspire life to be more romantic, creative and, let's be honest, an escape from much of the world's madness!!! Keep creating. We all LOVE what you share and your unique view of life xxxx

You can always use a like fabric at the hem and make it look deliberated. Your the designer. Your thought processes work very well. I have sewn for over 55.

thank you, my good lady, for all you have given us, all we need now is a natty vlog, lol, i can just see something like this on snl, where everyone is vlogging themselves and nothing gets done but every body looks ab-fab-usly chic during one of your patio parties and either the church falls in on itself or the chateau falls in on itself, ( cgi of course ) and the conversation stay on track with the latest champaign and red wines, charcuterie boards you have on hand as various jr staff come out with charcoaled balled pastries, over cooked chicken and roasts that wither and crumble away as soon as you stick a knife into them and it is all laughed off, ( stick to your moto ) and dan is in the parking lot shaking his head watching all of this with his drone................ lol

Hi Stephanie I noticed your Xmas calendar in the background when Michael is showing his pattern .
My mother was bought a M&S beauty calendar two years ago, so I collected gifts during the year refilled all the little boxes with things she would enjoy from mini bars of lint chocolate ,perfume, tea to Xmas decorations. I got as much enjoyment hunting for the gifts as she did opening them each day.
Maybe an idea for you Mum.

Wow Stephanie what you and Micheal can do. Where on earth did you learn to sew with no pattern? Making up your own on the spot and just sewing it together. Incredible!

I think a Banyan robe would be very nice for a woman, it could be very elegant with soft feminine fabric.
