“Still not as good as Michaels’s but I think she will catch on ~ or at least I hope so.” Ouch! Not sure why I’m taking umbrage with this comment but I have. I believe the reality is UA-cam picked up on the trending of Micheal’s first video and suggested it to people who had never heard of anything Chateau. His video had been lobed into play by the foundation of Chateau Diaries Subscribers that Stephanie spent nearly two years building. If you look at the view count of his first video it’s something like 800,000, but all the viewers haven’t returned to watch the following videos. He was trending. They are both massive talents. The UA-cam math or income is a whole different world with different variables. You can have 1,000,000 subscribers and still not make as much as someone who has only 1000. March 22 Stephanie only had 14,100 subscribers and only 173 of which signed up to be Patron’s. That’s only 1.23% of her loving followers supporting her, it boggles my mind that people don’t see this a modern day at the movies and commit, pay it forward. Be part of the story.
I understand community ovens were the basis for the Pat-a-cake rhyme. Bread bakers marked their bread with a letter or symbol so they could identify their baked bread from others.
@@kjwhitty8820 exactly! Bread was marked with an identifying symbol. Just as butter was marked so people could tell which farm it was from. The old wooden butter presses were carved with unique identifying symbols for each buerre producer🌷🌷🌷
Hanneke Teunissen and in German villages (Dorfer), though people buy bread from bakeries and shops now because they’ve worked away from home for so long now (one thing that might change somewhat, and though the community bread oven might not ever make a comeback, I believe a pizza oven could)!

I think if you organized a group of masons and historians to come and spend a night to look at what you have and what the historians could dig up for you.... you would have an incredible evening of ideas. Then organize a few masons and workers to spend a "pitch a tent and get fed" type weekend to start and work the mill reclaiming process or to come enjoy the land and give ideas on how to bring back your magnificent property would be worth exploring. Maybe have them come and spend some time then provide drawings and ideas of what could be and what can be done to give you a property that will pay the bills for the rest of your life. You have a gold mine you are sitting on.

@maegan yes I adore Stephanie! And greatly appreciate her channel. It has everything, fantasy (of owning a Chateau myself), history lessons, travel logs, cooking lessons, sewing lessons, DIY, interior design, entertaining, party planning, costume design, art, her family/friends, her amazing personality and the infectious joy of life that she possesses. 😊❤️
I would think that the Government official that tricked you into draining your lake by threatening fines should/could be held responsible. I think that you had said the lake even shows on ancient maps proving it’s always been and belongs. What a shame.
Bonjour Stephanie, I'm pausing halfway through your video to write notes. There are two things you must do. First, look at old maps in the local libraries/archives to see where on your property there may have been structures. You might also consult old tax records to see what taxes were placed on what properties. Secondly, you must have a drone do overhead photography of all your property especially in winter when there is no snow and no vegetation growing, so you can see from overhead any patterns in your lands revealing evidence of structures. You should also look at Google Earth satellite maps of your properties to check same. Perhaps the 2 towers were remnants/ruins from the medieval castle!!! After viewing the entire vlog, I must say that this is my very favorite video with all the exploration of the mill ruins! I wonder where the water wheel was/is, and especially where the flour grinding wheels are? I bet the stone wheels are yet in the brush on the floor of your mill! It would be so exciting to see things as they were, with the lake filled and the sluiceway running the water wheel, turning the stone grinding wheels. And your mama is correct! The people would have brought their wheat etc. to the mill for grinding. They would have given a portion to the Lord of LaLande. And the oven would have been available to the people of the area for baking their breads. How amazingly exciting. I really think you could get a University to do a complete vegetation clearing (not the vines on the structure--they are beautiful but are likely holding everything together), mapping, and excavation. They could find the wheels, gears all kinds of things! I participated in a large scale archaeological survey of portions of Indiana, involving the Wabash and Erie Canal. We found several ruins of old Mills along the creeks in the area. It's really so magical in a way. What did Isabelle call the path? Enchanted? What a perfect description of the entire experience--enchanted indeed! I meant to add you could check into Time Team doing a survey and reconnaisance/ excavation for you, if they are still doing archaeology. They usually do a tremendous amount of work in 3 days. One last addition. Document, document, document! Archaeology is a completely destructive discipline. So please record everything. Photo document and journal document everything. 🙏🏻💗💜⚜️🏰⚜️💜💗🙏🏻

Hey. About the wines on walls - quite common techniqe is to cut the branches right at the ground lvl, so it would stop growing of the plants. Then the leaves and small branched will die naturally and all the big branches will leave as they are. This techniqe is used to save trees that are covered by wines - sometimes the tree wont be able to stand alone because it is too weak under the wines but also it is unsafe to leave the wines to grow because they are heavy and the tree could fall - so then u cut the wine at the ground and it stays as an exoskeleton for the tree. Good luck!

You are such a nice person and very optimist. I really enjoy seeing the adventures that you and your family go through. All my life I have dreamed of living in a Chateau that is why I love seeing your channel, especially I like the stories you tell us. I like so much your mummy, please give her a kiss on my behalf and for you best regards from the other side of the world.
My thoughts on the bread oven is that it was maybe for the field workers so they wouldn't go back to the main house for meals. That kitchen being reserved for the residents and house servants.
this mill would make a lovely artists retreat, lots of work to clear the trees and vegetation but would absolutely be worth doing. The bread oven restored would also heat the place come winter. Restoring the fishing pond to a natural pond would also be lovely as the foundation is already there as well as water supply. Good video
I so enjoy these diaries. It is like being drawn into an enchantment. The exploring of the grounds and chatting of the possible explanations and histories. I am creative and love to write. Dear Stephanie, there are SO many aspects in all your video’s that I can relate to in so many ways... growing up at a farm, visiting my aunt and uncle’s estate, the oldest part of their home was build in the 1400’s. Nature, wondering around, the sounds, the moss, upholstering things, using what you have, even collecting crowns... 😁 Thank you so much. ❤️
I just love these videos. Thank you for them, Stephanie. I especially admire how you shared the difficult, painful parts about the drained lake. Maybe there's an upside... a redesigned lake might incorporate features that are more environmentally supportive of local wildlife and fish habitat than the old lake. It could end up being your greatest legacy.

I'm with Selmar I love to just walk and explore and find hidden treasures. Your out buildings would intrigue me to find what was left behind. I'm with your mum I would want to go right back and start clearing it out.
Good luck!

Your mum is just a gracious lovely lady, I enjoy your virtual tours so much, thank you !
The sounds of nature are always the best music ever.
Magical. You couldn’t ask for a better place to spend the lockdown. Love the sound of nature. Looking forward to listening on the Patreon site. Selmar is a real god send. Maman is right that’s what people did in the old days collectively bake in a communal oven. Thank you for sharing❤️
I just love every second. I love everyone equally, I wish they could all stay permanently living at the Chateau. Can’t wait for Percy, The Scotsman, and Michael x 2 to back too! Please don’t leave Selma or Nick, Marie and Antone. Lucky Antone, what a childhood he is living. Please vlog more, just sitting around having afternoon tea is so entertaining, anything. Sending thanks and hugs from Australia. 🤗
Love the texture of the vines and stone. It looks so ancient.
Loved this!... exploring ancient ruins and such beautiful nature. Thank you, Stephanie for letting us live vicariously through you. Sending all the best to your mother and everyone there with you. 💞 Lovely to see such loving, generous souls.
Your channel is seriously so amazing. I have always loved 1800 century history and your channel just makes my imagination go wild of how it must have been.
Antoine is such a fine boy, he is a very lovely cameo role in your vlog Stephanie! 😊💙
This is my favorite episode yet! Thank you for sharing this dream come true.
Wow ,the mill is enchanting. I love it and your vision. Both you and Michael have wonderful channels,
and friendships. Who has more viewers, Really?
I agree it is not a competition and I do like the way they support each other. Someone made a not so nice comment about stephanie on michaels last vlog and he gave a lovely testament to her and their encouraging friendship.
Your mom is just as sweet as she can be. I think she is spot on with the theory of the cottage industry using the mill for locals baking their bread there at the mill. Good luck with your work of preservation and remodeling!
What an fascinating adventure. I love that Anton is exploring the ruins and appreciating the adventure too. He’s such a lovely young man. Have a lovely week. 🌟
Your mummy is a beautiul woman! I find everything she does amazing!
Yayyyyyyy. Another Vlog from Stephanie!!!💃💃💃❤️
Your videos are always so joyful! I always feel happy and less stressed. Thank you. ❤
We are about to experience great things from Selmar, the way he turned up out of the blue(after it slipping your mind due to your journey and lockdown)his arrival has got to be one of life's miracles. I've always wanted to discover hidden ruins, this has been one of my favourite vlogs. Thank you for inspiration and loving-kindness, Stephanie.x

What a truly magical walk to the enchated mill and the frog sounds so soothing. wow you are so lucky . thankyou for allowing us to share some moments in your life.
Love the flowing water sound.
What an amazing historical discovery 💚
So enjoyed tagging along with you on your lovely sunny Sunday Walk. 👒👢🍪 Thank you 💛 Beautiful blessings Mandy 👑SA
Wow, 1000 subscribers in one day! I’m telling everyone I know to follow you. Your videos are the best!
That temple in Cambodia was by far my favourite when I went, the trees were simply magnificent
A magical walk! How wonderful.
What a beautiful wood and surroundings.....thankyou Stephanie for your interesting and informative films. More please.
Enjoyed. Loved the explore of the mill. I pray I someday see the lake restored, How exciting.
Stephanie, I have just found your channel by accident... I am from México and I really adore you and I am fascinated with your Chateau. I have seen almost all your vlogs in one week.
💛💚
the wetland is so beautiful.
though having a lake is also beautiful.
Love mummy’s skill with the dandelion clock 🤣 xx
this mill would make a lovely artists retreat, lots of work to clear the trees and vegetation but would absolutely be worth doing. The bread oven restored would also heat the place come winter. Restoring the fishing pond to a natural pond would also be lovely as the foundation is already there as well as water supply. Good video
How awesome would it be ,to be a volunteer for the chateau! I love your personality Steph keep up the great vlogging😘
I so enjoy these diaries. It is like being drawn into an enchantment. The exploring of the grounds and chatting of the possible explanations and histories. I am creative and love to write. Its all so inspiring in so many ways. And truly is uplifting and feeds the soul. Its wonderful at a time like this. Thank you so much.
love your mom too.
Stephanie, I loved the old mill. Please spend sometime doing some clearing to make it easier for others to make their way and discover your hidden gem. I'd love to see more of it.
Keep dreaming big! This is so exciting to watch!
This is my escapism
Mine too. Chateau Diaries is a ray of sunshine for me.
Me too.
i just adore the chateau diaries!
That was exciting discovering the footpath and the bread oven. I loved that little door to a room that Antoine discovered.
Another Sunday at the Chateau 💕
I’m finding I have to watch the vlog twice, once because I am so engaged with the live chat and the community there, and secondly to fully take in all the detail of the vlog. Hope you get paid twice when someone watches a second time? Xx
I do the same thing, I love to read the comments!
Fairy tales REALLY do come true 👑💛👑
t a 🎶 it could happen to you 🎵
💛🎶🎵💛 Yes
I enjoyed this adventure along with you all, thank you so much for sharing! Next best thing to being there with you. Super interesting, educational and adventurous! Much appreciated! 😀👋🏼🇨🇦💐🌺💐may I add that I adore your mom Isabelle❤️💐🌺🌸 stay well and safe
Gosh Stephanie you bring SUCH JOY to my days with your videos! I absolutely love your attitude, cheerfulness and passion for history! ❤️
Thank you so much.
What a fun adventure! It feels so fun to be part of your discoveries. Thank you for sharing.
Stunning, what a lovely find, well done Selmar and Deisel. The Chateau it seems never stops revealing itself.
Watching your videos makes me so happy. thank you. 💜
I found this channel about 3 weeks ago and have binge watched every video. Stephanie you have the most positive outlook on every situation and you are so so grateful for every gift and every moment. You are inspiring to watch and I try to find the positive side of everything. Thank you so much and I hope to one day visit you at LaLande
