I have been an archer all of my life. At age 13 I entered an archery tournament and won a 1st place trophy 🏆! I continued shooting competitions and tournaments throughout high school. After graduating from high school I stopped shooting competitively with an impressive collection of 1st Place trophies and ribbons, and ONLY 1st place. In my 5 years of competing, I honestly never received anything other than a 1st prize placement. So I won my first tournament, my last, and all of the ones in between!!! I love archery 🏹 and those that incorporate it in with their lives can learn a great deal from practicing this martial art!!! Your video is awesome!!! I SO enjoyed it!!! Once I’m done I will send you a pic of my finished product!!! This video inspired me so much I just HAD to try to make one myself!!!! Thank you!!🙏🏼 😊🏹

I to was like you to I loved working with the different types of wood and was always a pleasure to see the end article. Carry on the great work. Jon
Thanks, I have cut down some yew trees to make bows, but the staves have to mature a few months, so have bought bamboo staves and shafts after watching your inspiring work on bows and arrows to get the feel for asian style bows, a true master and teacher, thank you.
I came here for the Penobscot Bow build & realized class was in session. The bird's head was a real beauty! The Bamboo, Rattan & Leather, yes, great brothers indeed. Functional Art. Lethal Tool. Fun Hobby! Subscribed.
Enjoyed seeing where this design led to, and find your style both innovative and beautiful in concept and the final finishing that came with the birdshead and what I'm seeing with the cord and rattan weave if the riser and handle area. It's stunning Ren. Thank You!
We have bamboo here in SC and if I keep watching your work I might end up trying to do similar pieces, but, won't show any of them until I get good at it like you. You make it look easy when I myself know it takes a lot of time and patience and control to work such tools and types of wood. You would make a great architecture if you ever applied at that I would imagine.
This is also the traditional bow of my people who are closely related to the Penobscot First Nations. I am Mi'kmaq First Nation myself and learned at a very young age on how to make one of these bows using all tradition ways and no modern machines were used. I wish my Uncle Ray was alive today to see others carrying on traditional ways even if they are not of our people.
I just checked out what the Penobscot is. Still in Maine of USA, don't know if your tribe had been relocated to different Indian reservation? I am from Taiwan and know very little on details of US history. I read an article about casino on tribal land like they're there casinos in Detroit now. There are certain types of commercial combination of tribal members and investors can really benefit your folks. I think the first factor is the size of the tribe. Your tribe is about the right size. If too big then there's not much profit can be shared. Just my two cents!
I suppose the cane webbing wrap is meant to be a sacrificial and ornamental touch to protect the wood for the life of the bow and is easily replaced when worn. Good job.
Beautiful craftsmanship, I like the birds head too, what bamboo did you use and how long a drying time, and thank you for posting this, was very relaxing and enjoyable to watch, wish I had your wood working skills.
In my country (Ukraine) bamboo does not grow. Maybe some collectors or exotic lovers have one in their garden, but I don't think our climate suits him. We don't even have a similar plant. Therefore, it is very exciting to watch how you work with it! Very interesting and unusual, really! Good luck with your future projects, master 🙏
Im iñ Maine. USA home of the penobscot indian.and I make bows as well. The real bow was made from oak, ash, maple, but you can make them with other materials. The penobscot bow is a combination of a bow, with the action of a compound bow. the indians would form bow. Soak it,and bend on fire. And tie to tree to set bend.

I saw the similar bow by Dreamcraft on UA-cam. But his bow was made by wood, though. Your idea of making by Baboo is awesomely amazing... To be honest, the place where I live has varieties of 🎍bamboo. So that I can try to make the bow like you do. Thank you so much for the ideas you've given us, brada... Stay safe...!
@@woodenren Oh..! So you are from Taiwan. One of my local brother married a Taiwanese girl and he shifted his family to Taiwan. And in that visit I'll meet you too & take your advise about making bows & as well as wood working ideas.. And stay safe , brada...!
1st off...AMAZING! What's the draw weight on that? I thought the Penobscot war bows had some pretty crazy poundage on them, and it doesn't like too much of a struggle to pull.
First time visiting your channel! Very nice work !! You demonstrate the blending of engineering and artistry to create a one of a kind bow. Very impressive! Greetings from Canada 🇨🇦!
Penobscot bow

Thank you for your compliment, I love this job.
