Bianchi, one of the founding companies of Autobianchi, was not just a producer of motorcycles but still exists today as the oldest bicycle company in the world, founded in 1885. It also built cars (one of which resulted in the death of company founder Edoardo Bianchi in a road accident in 1946) and at one point was third biggest producer of cars in Italy. The colour of this adorable little car is not "seafoam green" but celeste, even famous today as the traditional colour of Bianchi racing bicycles.
The Italians had some great ideas, but the starting technique for old Fiats was pretty strange: turn the ignition key, then press a lever on the floor for the choke, and another lever to engage the starter motor! Today people say that a manual transmission alone is a good theft deterrent.

This video is very soothing. I've never said that before about an automobile review. Maybe if everyone drove one of these, the world would be a much more peaceful place.

Autobianchi also made a potent litle rocket, called the Autobianch A112 Abarth. Based on the Fiat 127,with improved interior and different body style
,made from 1977 to 1984, it was a ferocious little car,all with 70 horsepower. My cousin in Itally had one in 1977, I was amazed at the accelearation
    and fantastic handling.

Beautiful review. I love your description of the car as a companion and having a spirit. Perhaps it carries a bit of the spirits of the creators and owners who have passed on. Imagine that a VW Beetle of the same era would be like a race car next to that.

What a lovely small car, and its sound while driving indicated a quality built automobile. These days a manual transmission would be an anti-theft device for about 90% of drivers.

Very nice video, Donald! My mum used to own 2 of the 500s from the late sixties and early 70s, I remember them very well. Had my first unofficial driving lesson in one 😁 I love your channel, keep up the good work ❤️🍀🇮🇹👍

My comment has to do with the year this model came out. They were released in 1957 not 1960. I have a 1957. The 1957 had flat floors and a shorter front windshield. Don't worry I still love you on Jay Leon's Garage.

It has a lever pull by the handbrake (unless the handbrake is not located in the normal place !) Am l correct that one of these was used in a "Pink Panther " film. Thankyou Donald .
