  • Yes, power tool action tossing ample amounts of saw dust everywhere is way more exciting to watch. But the boring steps leading up to the moment we can power up the tools is critically important.

    For those of us not as fussy( like getting after tool marks on turnings) you're attention to details is a refreshing reminder that the whole process is very important. Good vid squire!

      Yes, attention to details and good layout lead to a higher level of success and much less frustration. If a woodworker invests in good tools, machinery and material then good planning is worth it. Keep up the good example.

    Grain direction is very important for strength. It’s good that you allow for it. I liked the choice of white oak as that wood doesn’t absorb water in the end grain, but you use what is available.

      Great point! A lot of people use these chairs for deck chairs and I think some versions were made from teak. That is what pushed me towards the white oak in the first place. But the original design concept, and what we will use them for, is flexible indoor seating for small living spaces. I am making one for each of my daughters who I hope will put these in their college door room as some point.

    Great video, part 1 inspired me to get Inkscape and the rare book, Inkscape : Guide to a Vector Drawing Program by Tavmjong Bah. Keep making the great videos.
