My old football coach used to say “Hit the snot out of them, help them back up and then do it again.” Playing your heart out doesn’t mean you have to lose respect for your opponent. Little things like helping a guy up off the turf isn’t soft. And if you love and respect the game there’s no reason you shouldn’t acknowledge a good play even if you were on the wrong end of it. Sure it’s a dogfight and they’re your enemy for 4 quarters... but when it’s over, they’re your peers again.
I laid a guy out in highschool during a kick return.... He looked at me both of us on the ground and said good hit baby. Liked that guy from that point on.
In highschool, I wrecked a guard on sweep play to the outside that I keyed on. Layed him out. Next play he wrecked me on a trap that I walked right into. As he laid on top of me, after the whistle, he asked who owed who breakfast. We both got warnings for delaying the game cuz we couldn’t stop laughing.
I think that's actually low-key genius. Being nice to the guys hitting you probably means they're less likely to take your head off when they get the chance, and just make a "softer" tackle instead.
If I remember correctly, after every tackle or sack, Reggie White would ask you if you're okay. If you said yes, the reply was "Good. God bless you." and he walked back to the huddle
Andrew Luck is by far the most polite man ever to play the game haha. i meant there are great guys like fitzgerald who play it with much respect for everybody. But Luck literally is like the new kid in school who wants to make as much friends as possible by being nice to everybody. I love the guy :D
Luck has the respect of nearly every defensive player because he not only enjoys the physical aspect of the game, but according to several NFL defenders, he NEVER whines to the refs about late hits or hits to the head or anything like that. Almost every QB in the game constantly whines. Back in the 1960's, QB's were not the protected commodities they are today. They would run the ball like a running back, looking to hit people. Luck is old school. This is why you will see defensive linemen give him a hand when he's on the ground. Another thing.....when Luck screws up and throws a pick, he can hit. He doesn't run off the field. He takes responsibility for the mistake and tries to get the ball back. Ask Sharise Wright when Stanford played USC back in the day. Luck gave Wright one of the most vicious hits I have ever seen.
When I played rugby, I got my ass, head, and soul rocked by one of the other players. After the game was over, the dude offered me a beer and treated me like brother. Nothing wrong with sportsmanship.
I'm late on this video, but I wanted to say I know exactly what you mean. My son played rugby in high school. I had never played, so I didn't know much about it. His coach always referred to it as a "gentlemen's sport", which surprised me a bit, considering the way they went at each other on the pitch. Then I saw that a common tradition was after a game full of beating each other senseless, both teams would often get together for hot dogs on the grill or otherwise just hanging out together for a few before leaving. It was something special.
I always love the good sportsmanship when I watch a game. Opposing players helping up the other guy. When a player gets hurt badly, and you see the staff on the field putting the guy in the stretcher, and you see the opponents nearby kneeling or hanging around, hoping the guy is ok, it actually warms my heart. Not that I want guys to get hurt.
The type of “manners” in football is really just being respectful to people. That’s what football is about. Sure, when the game is going on it’s fine to be ruthless but when the the whistle blows that’s when you congratulate the other player if they made a play, help them up.

Played rugby for 10 years and yeah there's times when you're annoyed if they've hit you to stop you scoring or whatever, the point isn't every hit you say thankyou and you're nice the point is when you catch them later and the moments gone you respect them and respect the play they made and you get them back on the next play by hitting them with your skills
The play isn't over until the whistle blows. But once the whistle blows, the play is over. And when the play is over, you should act like a civilised human being.
@Buzz Killington really you know my family that's amazing. You sound like a twerp and a little b****. LMAO. Don't get back to me because I couldn't give a damn what you have to say. F*** off
People mistaking etiquette and sportmanship for not playing hard... You can have both. Watch rugby and see how animalistic it is, but that doesn't mean there isn't mutual respect and etiquette i.e. not cheating, not wanting to injure someone, appreciating the referee, etc.
I don't see anything weird about it...if someone made a nice hit...I will tell them the truth...nice hit.Not to mention, it shows a man's security ...which in turn shows leadership.
Drummer if a player knocks you down, you can make it mean whatever you want. If you believe that their tackle makes them better than you, then that's on you. But just because someone knocks you over doesn't mean they've beaten you. It's a team based sport. Everyone on the feild is most likely gonna get knocked down a few times. There may be players better or worse than you out there, but you can't determine that soley on a tackle or two.
When I was a player, my only concern was getting too competitive and never being a good sport. I remember after a good tackle I made, the qb I tackled said “good tackle” and after I got up I held my hand out to help him up and he and I shared a hug. I didn’t know him like at all but we beat them by like 40 points but it was such a good moment for me and hopefully for him.
I play high school ball and not even my team helps me up most of the time. I remember I drilled th QB really hard once and the crowd was yelling at me saying i did an illegal hit and the QB stood up for me and said it was a clean hit. And my way of thanking him was by sacking him again the next down lol
I like seeing the players help each other and enjoying the game. You are supposed to enjoy what you do. To me it makes them more aware and would help reduce injuries.
One time I was covering a reciever for the whole game, at one point after a good defensive play buddy complimented me on my coverage. Couple drives later and he steps on my foot, then apologizes after the play. I have mad respect for players like that.
I love Andrew Luck, he turns up for work and enjoys his job. It's awesome when any player has that kinda attitude even when on the field. But when you have people on the outside actively pushing for players in the NFL to be polite, that shit's whack...let them do their thing and enjoy it when you find these diamonds in the rough.
I've played sports my entire life and I'm more of a class act type player and always congratulate players during the game but I don't want everyone to do that. Just play the game your way I enjoy the different personalities
Lmao at the thumbnail, that was in the 2015 divisional game and clay swiped his hand back before palmer actually held it for help to stand up, in the thumbnail it looks nice but clays actually just getting into his head
Great for you, Andrew Luck! I didn't know that about you and even tho you're already among my favorite quarterbacks, you have now risen to a new level. How very classy of you. God bless you
Byson Vasquez in some ways they do get paid to be fat. You can be extremely strong but weigh 200 pounds but when you face an opponent that isn't as strong but weighs 300-400 pounds, I guarantee that you will have some trouble handling them. Weight plays a major role.
Big Banana Dealer it does happen but honestly it doesnt happen all the time overall the heavier guy will block better if their technique is on the same level
i agree, but something that gets over looked is a lot of these guys came from nothing, and they've been told their whole life that they're the best football player. They rely on football because they have nothing else. Julian Edelman's dad has a ton of stories about him checking him growing up, instilling in him that he's not close to perfect and he has a lot to work towards. Compare that to someone like Jamarcus Russel who has always been told he was the best at every phase of life. It's hard to have humility when you've always been treated a certain way. Sorry i know this is late.
I do get why a lot of them act the way they do. There is a lot on the line. You are making insane money. More than these guys ever could have made without getting in the NFL. But every position is highly competitive. You have to keep performing and every time someone beats you that is possibly taking a little shred of your livelihood away. So in a lot of ways, every small loss is an attack on you. And a lot of people are not going to take an attack on them well when their brain is filled with adrenaline.
Your manners will be missed, Andrew Luck.

You can have both. Watch rugby and see how animalistic it is, but that doesn't mean there isn't mutual respect and etiquette i.e. not cheating, not wanting to injure someone, appreciating the referee, etc.
I've shown this to around 1,000 high school freshman over the years. Thanks for the free content, NFL Films.
Andrew luck is awesome
thats the only thing i like him
Me to
Logan paul sucks
Nahhhhhh he congratulated people for hitting him and asks for help from the other team no never
But he's ass
If two boxers/mma fighter can beat the hell out of each other than hug at the end, then football players can help each other up after each play.
That’s the definition of RESPECT ✊.
The realest man is the one who can be physical and respectful
It's not the same. Having etiquette after every play in the NFL is the same as mma fighters hugging after every round, it just doesn't happen.
@@Jj-no4qn you make no sense
@@iamriplolz4268 what makes no sense?
I don't see anything weird about it...if someone made a nice hit...I will tell them the truth...nice hit.Not to mention, it shows a man's security ...which in turn shows leadership.
TheWinterShadow there’s something ion kno bout u
I won’t tell them anything bc if they are beating me it shows they are better so why congratulate people on showing you up
Drummer if a player knocks you down, you can make it mean whatever you want. If you believe that their tackle makes them better than you, then that's on you. But just because someone knocks you over doesn't mean they've beaten you. It's a team based sport. Everyone on the feild is most likely gonna get knocked down a few times. There may be players better or worse than you out there, but you can't determine that soley on a tackle or two.
zhroomz I can tell you don’t play football
Immmortal you make Minecraft videos. Stop it.
This show makes my heart melt.
yes football means strength and talent but having good sportsmanship shows respect for ur teammates and opponents
“Respect the refs”
The ref: *misses a clear PI and loses the game for a team*
But did anyone die?
When a receiver clearly pushes off and catch a deep ball but they don’t call offensive PI
I couldn’t type that fast enough.
King Amen-Tut-Ankh #DezDroppedIt😐
You mean the Lions. Not just any team, the Lions
Damn what’s wrong with being a human!? Civility is a sign of strength. It’s proven that ppl respect you more if you, at minimum, treat them dignity!
SangheiliWarrior Ooh that’s interesting what position do you play?
Lmfao. This actually made me laugh really hard. Good job mate 😂
My kinda GUY.
I bet you don’t even play.
Johnny #59 I do play, think again.
I think the whole idea of keeping it some what civil shows that they are having fun instead of hating each other
That lady probably doesn’t know routes.

ImToo Tired spicy meme
And dank
😂
ImToo Tired hahaha I was already thinking about that
ImToo Tired W
I like seeing the players help each other and enjoying the game. You are supposed to enjoy what you do. To me it makes them more aware and would help reduce injuries.
I can understand if it's a pretty good play they make on you
What's not to understand?
Reece Thompson I’m,¿yay. It was
Reece Thompson iii
Lol I love how Brady calls everyone baby
Ezra Alldredge he does kiss his kids on the lips tho
VG Courage Atleast He cares about His Kids, I seen Fathers that Tell their Kids that They are Mistakes And Disgraces
Ezra Alldredge Ikr man. Not only is he the GOAT but he is just a great, funny guy. I’m a bears fan but you gotta love Brady.
Baseball everyone is either, Kid, Babe, or Bud.
Almost forgot that Andrew Luck was teammates with Doug Baldwin, Sherman, and Cody Fleener
S. Li when
Ayush Gupta College
S. Li Stanford Gang
and Ty Montgomery, Griff Whalen, Zach Ertz, Levine Toilolo, Trent Murphy, David Yankey, Dave DeCastro, Ryan Hewitt, etc. etc.
You edited and you still said cody not coby
One time I was covering a reciever for the whole game, at one point after a good defensive play buddy complimented me on my coverage. Couple drives later and he steps on my foot, then apologizes after the play. I have mad respect for players like that.
Putting Sherman in a video about etiquette? Lol.
What a joke. He is someone with all bark and no bite.
BMDubsKid To be fair, it was Crabtree who refused to shake his hand after the NFC Championship.
Nemesis Of Revenge you sound like my ex during her period. All emotion and no logic.
D Lakland He screams and throws tantrums like a child. Sherman is a joke, you really take that man seriously?
Nemesis Of Revenge yup because he produces. He talks a lot that's most players game like Brady.
Lmao I'm sure Richie Incognito's teammates can tell you about his "manners"
Yeah......
He’s a savage😎
The Sphinx he's actually a really intelligent, soft spoken leader in the Bills locker room that went to the pro bowl the last 2 years.
I don’t get it? Sorry to disappoint xD pls explain
Magnus Garrett when he was on the Dolphins he bullied another lineman and got cut for it
Steve smith apologized?? Wtf
DD Skinny 12 I'm surprised too
Because game recognize game..
DD Skinny 12 I was about to comment the same thing
Lets be real though guys. He probably has more to apologize for than anyone else
DD Skinny 12 That was an alien who abducted the real steve Smith
I've played sports my entire life and I'm more of a class act type player and always congratulate players during the game but I don't want everyone to do that. Just play the game your way I enjoy the different personalities
wetsockssuck yes you t the one that will lead these people
wetsockssuck I 1000% agree
Lmao at the thumbnail, that was in the 2015 divisional game and clay swiped his hand back before palmer actually held it for help to stand up, in the thumbnail it looks nice but clays actually just getting into his head
him and carson know eachother well so it was actually just clay joking around
Then Carson threw a touchdown the next play lol
wasn't it in the game a few weeks before the divisional round?
Chancellor clay is one of the most disrespectful players in the league lol
stealthiscool yeah it was, my bad
Thats what's friendly sportsmanship is all about. Respect and integrity of the game.
Great for you, Andrew Luck! I didn't know that about you and even tho you're already among my favorite quarterbacks, you have now risen to a new level. How very classy of you. God bless you
Don't call me fat that hurts my feelings man! 😂😂 you get paid to be fat. Ain't nothing wrong with it
Byson Vasquez in some ways they do get paid to be fat. You can be extremely strong but weigh 200 pounds but when you face an opponent that isn't as strong but weighs 300-400 pounds, I guarantee that you will have some trouble handling them. Weight plays a major role.
I've pancaked kids that were like 100 lbs more than me it's all about technique
But with equal technique and similar strength, weight can affect how easy it is to move you.
Byson Vasquez I've seen it happen, smallest skinniest guy on the team blocked linebackers 100 pounds heavier than him
Big Banana Dealer it does happen but honestly it doesnt happen all the time overall the heavier guy will block better if their technique is on the same level
You can see how much etiquette helped Luck. As he sits on the bench with his kidneys jellified.
Seth Paramore too bad no one will agree with you because he has “etiquette”
For real though
Seth Paramore his kidneys are beat up because his line can't keep him clear of the harder hits.
Seth Paramore those two things have nothing to do with each other tho
I agree because he got his ass kicked
Thats how I played ball 10 years ago, its great coming across others who can appreciate other peoples abilities.
Cam Newton 2017: "A female talking about etiquette on a football field...."
It’s annoying
It's funny when a woman talks about etiquette.
Lmao
Isaac Newell he's quoting cam newton. You apparently couldn't tell by the fact that he said "cam newton 2017"
+J_Dog 247 I just see u on another video
Walter Payton ALWAYS helped up........his tacklers, and would pat them on the back. THAT'S a REAL strong minded player.
0:17 Incognito funny as hell😂😂😂
Travis Kielce is hilarious 😂
He hits you oh are you alright? 😂😂😂😂😂🤣🤣
Luck had a lot more chance to congratulate players with how much he got sacked. Management screwed him
A lot of these dudes need to put aside their ego.
@@qwer9676 good point. But good sportsmanship leaves a good impression and shows heart. They have the freedom to do as they wish
i agree, but something that gets over looked is a lot of these guys came from nothing, and they've been told their whole life that they're the best football player.
Some do some love the other teammates
Yep
I do get why a lot of them act the way they do. There is a lot on the line. You are making insane money. More than these guys ever could have made without getting in the NFL. But every position is highly competitive. You have to keep performing and every time someone beats you that is possibly taking a little shred of your livelihood away. So in a lot of ways, every small loss is an attack on you. And a lot of people are not going to take an attack on them well when their brain is filled with adrenaline.
I honestly didn't want to watch her talk, the players and game clips was good though
she's kind of cute though
@@holstfly1 nah man she be talking all day 😂
You can’t say “I” and talk about a sport you’ve never played. Sorry. I can’t entertain a anecdote that never happened.
Ian Parrott what
sooooo nice to see ppl respecting in each other...no matter where, when and who...one love...
Richie Incognito's comment made me laugh. Definitely the last person to ask about that 😂😂
This made me smile a lot, nothing wrong with good sportsmanship. Especially in such a violent game it shows good character
Who else is here after andrew luck walk out
I still don't blame him.
We have the same name and that’s kinda sick because our name is very uncommon
Nicest NFL video Ever.
Thank You.
Please give us more FOOTBALL. GRACIAS.
3 hours and 60 minutes
Elliot Weaver lol
Elliot Weaver to be fair, he just wanted to round up the miliseconds 😂😂
Elliot Weaver 😂😂😂
4 hours😂😂 Yep
KWE you know he was saying 60 minutes as game time and 3 hours meaning how long it takes the game to play out
