@@Shaddixks I would prefer that they do that AND fix the MC's names into Yu Narukami altogether, so the voice lines can be done with his name in account instead of the endless placeholder titles (Senpai, "You", "Partner", "Leader") which becomes extremely difficult because fellow second year outside the Investigation team do not have a sensible nickname in English Translation to refer to the MC in third-person, placing boundaries in dialog format. Total self-insertion is not necessary for a good RPG experience anyway, especially since P4 is relatively very limited in giving you option to express your personality your options are usually between sensible and caring, cocky, lighthearted trolling, or being off-tune/inconsiderate.

This melody... when I first heard while watching the anime it brought a lot of mix emotions. It's hard to go with life being alone, thinking you're a burden, afraid to my connections and hating yourself for becoming like this. You truly and utterly feel like your alone in this world, that no one understands you or even cares for your pain... I learned to cope and to speak with the little amount of true friends I've made but everytime I hear this melody it reminds me when I first realized the simple fact that I'm not alone.
When he was lost and alone and broken, they came for him. He never expected them to be there, he never even called them, and they came for him anyway. This is what you can do when you give your main character an actual personality.
I just finished watching the anime. This is truly an amazing adaptation of the original game's story. It added so much to an already amazing story, most notably the character of Yu. I honestly relate to him so much so this scene in the anime hit me. He's a great character, definitely one of my favorite protagonists ever.

He truly wants to help even tho at points his help gets mistaken for him being a man-whore. what a great persona protag. my favorite out of 3-5 for sure. looking forward to persona 1 and 2 in the near future.
Tai Moya I feel the same way. I feel like Yu is really underrated and I hate how he gets backlash for being a “chad”. He’s a really well made character and easily my favorite persona protagonist

Some ppl say that he is "boring" (being the funniest MC), blank (he has the most developed personality from the modern MCs), not edgy (yep the guy is slow and calm but is the MC that has been close of murdering a real person) and a Gary Stu loved by everybody (giving some silly points like being called handsome by Dojima... it´s his uncle, family always do comments like that lol). What ppl don´t see is that he is a loving and caring boy who acts like an advicer and father for everybody working really hard, fishes to feed stray kitties, is socially awkward, is probably asperger (I have asperger friends and they act like him sometimes) and is very very afraid of being alone (those are weakness that I haven´t seen yet in the other modern MCs). It seems that everybody forgets that if Makoto represents a Messiah and Joker Lucifer, Yu is God, the japanese version of God and father of the creation, that is his persona. During the game we are helping everybody, fullfilling their wishes (ironically with the ema quests from the fox the ppl give thanks to God in the temple for making their wishes true when all was Yu´s doing) and being like a father to everybody, Dojima SL points that. That is why everybody loves him he earned it. The game message is that we all need the bonds with other ppl to live. Yu is portrayed like the popular and perfect guy but the truth is that he's neglected by his parents, broken inside and with some serious problems there. I find him more realistic than a guy that has been condemned by a crime that he didn´t commit, was beaten by the police and acts 100% ok without any mental issue left because he is that cool. And I love Joker too but I find his char less real.

He doesn't try and let the unfairness of the world chain him down, kind of why he's always the one to break through the other characters when they face the unfairness of people like Kamoshida or Kaneshiro. I think that's why he's the 'Trickster', even though he's bound in chains by society's labels, his soul in reality is free.
@@kole2984 I always have thought that the true Joker is the one that we see in the Metaverse and the calm guy in game is the mask (being his glasses a representation of that because he sees perfectly. That is my interpretation). I´m agree with what you say, he´s having a facade there. What I don´t see realistic about him is that having a great story about being a normal kid that is falsely accused and jailed with his life ruined he suddenly becomes a criminal mastermind, a genius who deceives everybody. I love the scenes and how he represents the Devil punishing bad guys and making them repenting of their sins. But the script has flaws. Appart of that I don´t see any "scar" in his attitude when under that circunstances he must have a trauma. Yuki had his deep depression, Yu has true obsession with friendship because he thinks that he´ll be nothing if he is left alone. But Joker... there is nothing where I could say "ok he´s broken". We have the Beneath the Mask theme that talks about his feelings but he doesn´t shows it like the other two.
I remember thinking Persona 4 the animation would suck too, since I first saw the shitty P5A. But after watching t all, P4A is actually such a great adaptation of the game's story.
The only redeeming quality for p5a is the dub. It’s like Ghost Stories, the sub is legitimate garbage but the dub makes it worth a watch, even if the show itself is shit.
I think in general P4 is easier to adapt into an anime since the characters are actually hilarious and mesh better together than they do in P5. Even if in terms of game P5R imo is the superior game, both in story and gameplay. But it's hard to ignore that you connect more to people who have to face themself rather than someone getting angry and ripping a glued mask of their face.
