That was a surprise to me too. But then again Yu and Adachi are literally the Yin and Yang of Persona 4, so them having the same voice actor makes sense.
I posted it elsewhere but I’ll post it here as well. The reason why Adachi serves as such a perfect foil to Yu is right there in the lyrics for Ying Yang, specifically in the line "glass was half full for mine, and it looked half empty for me. Maybe that one glass made the path we took." in reference to Yu and Adachi’s contrasting views on life and what makes a person’s life worth living, as well as the proper way to go about it, or rather what makes a person 'talented' or successful. If you’ve seen Adachi’s past then you’ll know that he worked tirelessly all throughout his college years merely to get a job with the police, however despite his best efforts he lost his position and was sent to Inaba as a result. While he was packing his belongings he overheard an ongoing TV show mention that "those with talent will always succeed no matter what they do", a statement he then echoed in his fight with Yu later on in the animation (which you should absolutely watch in you haven’t). That mindset of 'talent is key' further molds Adachi into who we see in Persona 4, he fully believes that you’re either born with talent or not born with talent (born to be successful or born to fail). However, what he heard was completely wrong and if he was in a better state of mind he may have never murdered people (a jab at the stupidity and toxicity of the media inadvertently breedings monsters and bigotry out of gullible human beings). In reality 'talent' the skeleton key to life, success and leisure that Adachi so craved was not talent at all but connections. Adachi had every opportunity to make those connections in college, on the job or in his personal life but decided to go about it all on his lonesome, he shrugged off connections and so he was always lacking (glass half empty) while Yu embraced his connections and forged new ones as he faced the world around him (glass half full). Going back to my original point, the reason Adachi is a perfect foil for Yu is because Adachi has all the talent, Yu is just about talentless, Adachi is a genius, he’s capable, ferocious and a detective in the police. Yu is just a high school student, on his own he’s weak and vulnerable, he makes mistakes, but for all his flaws he has friends there to help him and draw strength from, you begin P4 as a nobody but work your way to the top by embracing the world as well as your weaknesses allowing you to overcome them, your shadows. Adachi is his own shadow, he rejects all social ties and is left to stew in his misery, he’s strong on his own but in his heart he’s pathetic, he stands alone and at his core he’s completely and utterly lost amidst his own conflicting thoughts. Adachi wants 'talent' or rather the key to life, but he mistakes talent for connections and unknowingly pushes it away making it harder and harder to live his life until he’s certain he’s damned. In plain terms, Adachi has always had talent, the thing he really wanted but never knew he needed was the exact bonds he shrugged off, that is what separates him from Yu, a single wall as stark as yin and yang.

If they ever port Persona 4 Golden to another platform, I hope they don't forget to use this for the battle against Adachi. That's the only change the game needs. EDIT: GOSH DARN IT
I am personally offended that this was not in the main game. This is easily my favorite song in the whole series and it's a shame it's only in the animation.
When I face adachi I'll play this instead. Edit: I did and it was legendary. I made sure to fight him using only my character and had several max rank s. Link persona.
@@goblincaged3898 the problem was not women... the problem was how society raised him and made him only cared about "good grades" and "being hard worker", thus he rejected any meaningful connection with people for the sake of his future, wich in turn bite him in the ass after not being "good enough" or "talented", this made him get into a big depression since his whole worldview was shattered, everything he did and everything he worked off only to get a detective job in a little town where nothing happens. He was a ticking bomb, the women's he killed were just his last try to get any kind of emotional support, it didn't help either that the rumors of both of them were being told in the town and tv, wich made him even more blinded with reality. So when his last try goes to waste (rightfully so), he snaps, all that build up depression, loneliness and hatred towards the world made him snap and he killed that women, wich in return made him feel SOMETHING in his miserable life, and it's the only thing he's got left and the only thing that at this point made him feel anything in his life. Adachi is an Incel to a degree, but the problem runs so much deeper than that.
A lot like the Investigation Team: a young and bright student with high hopes and big dreams he worked his ass off for, but never got no matter how hard he tried as those with "natural talent" always got it instead. This made him give up on life entirely, and how he became bored and depressed in life because he couldn't achieve a single one of his goals because he was never what his superiors wanted (youth and talent, the old "overqualified" issue), plus the different cultural norms of Japanese society and especially the Japanese workforce that pretty much tells him it's "too late" to change any of that and just essentially "accept his place", Adachi is left in a state of perpetual limbo, living an empty existence and rather then living, is simply instead going through the motions as each each day passes, surrounded by reminders that he has nothing for all the hard work and effort he spent his youth on. His big mistake that drove him over the edge was his failure to appreciate what he had, or accept those who did attempt to reach out to him. Where he used to forego friendships and connections with others under the belief they'd distract him from his studies and thus hinder his chances of succeeding(his strict parents who only cared about his grades may have had something to do with this mindset), now it's because he's so used to rejection and disappointment and never being "good enough", he no longer gives anyone a chance because he believes someone better will eventually come along and replace him, as he felt Yu did with the Dojimas, or where the old lady who brought him stew all but forgot about him once her hugely successful son visited("I guess it never had to be me after all..."). As a result, he was always alone with his depression and resentment, without any sort of moral or emotional support from others, he was a ticking time bomb well before he met Mayumi Yamano.
It's good, just not something for most fans. It's the persona Slice of Life anime. Just the only problem is people either start with this or don't like there's not as much action.

I'm not gonna lie, I forgot that this wasn't in any game, but from the Golden animation that I don't think anyone really liked or still talk about. It's crazy how hard they went for such a project. It's almost like they had the songs made already and created the show to bring attention to them.
from what I heard a lot of people really enjoyed the P4 anime, I haven't really seen too many people say they haven't. Then again, I'm just echoing, I've never seen it myself
You can make your claims about this being a new theme for adachi's battle in golden. But I don't see anyone considering the possibility of this as a Vs. theme for Yu and Adachi in P4 arena ultimax
I dunno, I kinda feel as it would still be different because Yu trusted Adachi since the beginning, he didn't know that Adachi was this cruel. Although, Ren (My preferred, lol), always knew they shouldn't trust Akechi, considering the whole pancake scenario. I would love to see it though, I just kinda feel as if it wouldn't have that feeling of sadness betrayal that Adachi's and Yu's battle had to it.
*Absolutely* nothing at all, it's not like he murdered two girls (With the assumption being that he was planning to rape them) or anything, right? Oh wait...
You just reminded me how Adachi was basically /v/’s mascot for a long period of time. In fact that's how I even heard of Persona and was legitimately shocked to learn he was a villain and not some wacky party member.
If Persona 5 the Royal Animation becomes a thing, I hope they make a Ren vs Akechi theme that can compete with this one. Alongside dramatically improving the fight scene.
His life may have been unfortunate, but it was his choice to not reach out and make any meaningful connections with people which led him down this rabbit hole to begin with
Circumstances are pitiable, but I feel no pity for his actions... Though I can see how it may mold him, he has the agency to know he did wrong and should be punished at the end.

Lowest salary, no friends (at least he have Dojima tho), single, no any penny for saving, except for his crime and his cabbage of course. Its irony I have similar past like him, except he dodge to be friend anyone during his school life while me getting bullied.
I spoiled the main antagonist for myself by accident after you and Yosuke get brought to the police station for possession of “weapons” in the early game. The way Adachi just talked, or his eyes and blank look, idk. I was hoping I was just being suspicious. But I investigated online and looked up Adachi and yep, spoiled it for myself. I was only suspicious because he was so unassuming and blunt. And also I was jokingly telling myself “yeah right, THIS guy is the killer, sure.” Oh well, I still need to play the game to completion, wish me luck
That’s how it was for me for Persona 5. (Not gonna who or what specifically cause reading another reply you’ve been busy, so unsure if you’ve played/beaten it) but I looked up a character just cause I had forgotten who he was after taking a large break in my play session and accidentally found a pretty big spoiler
If They Port/Remaster PIVG For The Switch, I Hope They Put This Song In Adachi's Boss Fight, Cause Let's Be Real Guys, We REALLY Wished This Could Be In The Game
Now, I could be a little biased as P4G was my gateway into the series, playing all the games prior and persona 5 after I was done replaying the shit out of P4G, but like... I can’t really decided if Adachi or the Persona 2 take on Kandori is my favorite antagonistic persona user in this series xD both are nihilistic assholes who, when confronted with god like powers, get sick of the mundane lives they live and kinda just go nuclear, but where as kandori just utterly gave up and accepted his role, adachi kinda has this little vague shred of a person who wants to be better but thinks there’s no way he could possibly get there, and just... dang man, persona writes villains in that way I just adore xD
Adachi is more relatable to me not the killing people and being evil but the loneliness being by yourself and no one to call, just wanting to call someone friend but there is no one Its hard
We also relate to the fact we just want this world to end and die even though just for a second or an hour or even a day we all had this thought in mind
Mah boi, Adachi~ Awww yeah! I really felt he was the appropriate final antagonist to P4, and I like how Golden enhanced the experience with him. Lovely music for a fun character.

The older you get the more you realize that Adachi is right in some regards.
society
1 month late, but if adachi stopped being an incel and got some interaction with women, garuntee he wouldn’t of murdered those people
@@howisthis8849 The problem with society is that we live in a society.
Some? How about most?
Adachi: The kid who wanted to be hero so much he became a villian, i wonder what type of person he was before all of his hopes and dreams were crushed
A hard worker.

With Persona 5 Animation coming soon, I really hope Goro and Joker/Ren/Akira have a song of similar depth as this for their battle.
Iou Solio yeah I thought this song matched the first time I beat akechi and believe their should be song just like this for akechi's fight
Adachi cabbage and Akechi pancakes
I dunno, I kinda feel as it would still be different because Yu trusted Adachi since the beginning, he didn't know that Adachi was this cruel. Although, Ren (My preferred, lol), always knew they shouldn't trust Akechi, considering the whole pancake scenario.
I would love to see it though, I just kinda feel as if it wouldn't have that feeling of sadness betrayal that Adachi's and Yu's battle had to it.

I just can’t help but feel bad for Adachi. His life was just very unfortunate.
This should had been yu and adachi's VS theme in p4a ultimax
Imagine this being in BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle. This should be a theme for Yu/Adachi team-up.
Everyone here is making jokes on how lotus juice has a rap battle with himself but no one is talking about how sad the song is (even though it goes hard). My key example is the piano at the end its by far my favorite part. The piano starts at 4:54
My glass is half empty. . . Fuck the world!
My glass is half full . . . Save the world!
My glass is empty/full. . . I'll just cheer on the protagonist. . .
Adachi is easily my favorite persona villain because he isn't a god nor is he some person betraying everyone for power he is a human being lost and scared because of the hand they were dealt and played in life, Adachi could be anyone in the wrong circumstances
Hes my favorite Persona character in general
I was listening to this song when I did a solo on the akechi boss and it actually fits pretty perfectly

You know, this wasn’t the first time Persona had a song that voiced the hero against the villain- well, kinda, Deva Yuga arranged had Kandori talking with Maki, who is technically only the heroine deuteragonist.
I'm starting to relate to this song too much after giving myself to so many people only to be alone in the end. Fug, just let it go is so sweet.
Glad I'm not the only one who feels this way sometimes.

Ill turn 34yo this year, still can relate hin because still have a shit life like him. Lowest salary, no friends (at least he have Dojima tho), single, no any penny for saving, except for his crime and his cabbage of course.
Its irony I have similar past like him, except he dodge to be friend anyone during his school life while me getting bullied.
Nuh uh I'm Adachi
Maybe the real Adachi was the online friends we made along the way (iam literally Adachi fr)
The outro melody is on point omg
this should have been Adachi's battle theme in the games
I spoiled the main antagonist for myself by accident after you and Yosuke get brought to the police station for possession of “weapons” in the early game.
The way Adachi just talked, or his eyes and blank look, idk. I was hoping I was just being suspicious. But I investigated online and looked up Adachi and yep, spoiled it for myself.
I was only suspicious because he was so unassuming and blunt. And also I was jokingly telling myself “yeah right, THIS guy is the killer, sure.”
Oh well, I still need to play the game to completion, wish me luck

Both Narukami and Adachi are right.
Now, I could be a little biased as P4G was my gateway into the series, playing all the games prior and persona 5 after I was done replaying the shit out of P4G, but like... I can’t really decided if Adachi or the Persona 2 take on Kandori is my favorite antagonistic persona user in this series xD both are nihilistic assholes who, when confronted with god like powers, get sick of the mundane lives they live and kinda just go nuclear, but where as kandori just utterly gave up and accepted his role, adachi kinda has this little vague shred of a person who wants to be better but thinks there’s no way he could possibly get there, and just... dang man, persona writes villains in that way I just adore xD

a part of me feels sorry for Adachi
but the other feels pissed at him
Adachi is more relatable to me not the killing people and being evil but the loneliness being by yourself and no one to call, just wanting to call someone friend but there is no one
Its hard
We also relate to the fact we just want this world to end and die even though just for a second or an hour or even a day we all had this thought in mind
This song is a the persona equivalent to winning an roasting battle with yourself in the shower
