@@trueaussie9230 To be a good comedian in the US, you have to appeal to a sense of unearned entitlement. Think of it as a nation collectively gaslit by sales pitches from birth to death. Product placement is the only positive reinforcement in our lives, so most of us mistake it as love or inclusion, rather than just advertising. Analytical comedians don't do well for that reason. That said, all of my favorite American comedians do better abroad than domestically.

@@Dead_World_Walking Yeah, the likes of George Carlin, Bill Burr, and Bill Hicks never really got off the ground. To corporate over here. Too much gaslighting. Shame they never got famous. Chapelle and Louis CK never had a chance! And nobody ever listened to Oswalt or Cross or Silverman. Lenny Bruce? Rodney Dangerfield? Richard Pryor? All failures here in the US. No one has ever even heard of Patrice O'Neil or Mark Maron or Zach Galifainakis! Sad to say, but its true. You never see good comedy in America...

I was in Gatwick airport once when the fire alarm went off. It was awkward: you're not supposed to stop to gather your stuff when evacuating, but you're also not supposed to leave stuff unattended in an airport. After weighing the options I gathered my stuff, followed the evacuation route signs, and realised I was alone. Everyone else was merrily ignoring the blaring alarm.

Since the Brits in Britain have on average less far to go then they can be often remembering that sometimes it is the turtle who wins the race instead of the hare. Farm boys in North America when going to college every day of the week maybe some people have plenty of answers to provide us concerning where they find all the best farm boys to help mind the children.

Yes! I once got a written notice at work after snapping when Compliance incompetents kept making errors copying my home bank account number from an _email_ (manually, I suppose).
Because of those errors they could not get proper investment reports from my home bank and therefore half a year after joining I was flagged as non-compliant.
Working in Finance it could mean losing my job and getting severely sanctioned.
After the announcement of the written notice by some department director in a sit-down, I demanded a sit-down with the Compliance department in question to explain why I snapped (telling them I should not have but not unconditionally apologising) and the newly hired manager apologised instead, promising it won't happen again, explaining it was understaffed.
The written notice however stuck for one year and was then removed from my file. Not really though, I guess as I'm sure they probably don't want to experience that emotional Continental ever again.
(edit)PS: those investment reports would have been blank, by the way.
