    If I have understood correctly, British sailors often got scurvy because they were eating (hi carb) BISCUIT, whereas their officers did not get scurvy because THEY were eating high-value animal-based foods. 😮

    The skin around my mouth started showing dark spots everywhere. After going carnivore it just disappeared and my complexion improved as well as my libido. Personally I think the increase in fat helped level out my hormones which cured the imbalance.

      These spots are cause by high insulin. Outrageous how medics say it has no cure, it's genetic and usually offer you some useless "treatment".

    Our ancestors often ate three or more times a day. When you kill a mammoth the whole tribe eats as much and as often as they want until the carcass rots. During the ice age there was ample opportunity to extend the life of meat by packing it in ice.

    31 days into my carnivore diet. I'm just about at my ideal body weight, maybe 5 to 10 pounds tops left to go. I love to exercise and do it daily (weights, sprinting, light running). My energy and mental clarity seem to be increasing somewhat after a dip where I was tired a lot. I eat mostly Tri-Tip which has about a 1/4 fat/protein ratio and 73/27 ground beef which is roughly 0.75/1 fat/protein ratio. I eat about 1 OZ butter daily but that doesn't begin to make up the fat difference. I feel pretty good for now but.....will I feel better adding more fat? How do I do that when my food is leaner than is perhaps ideal?

    • @geoffreylevens9045

      Could be an electrolyte/mineral problem. My understanding is that when in ketosis, the kidneys tend to pass through more electrolytes so some (many) people need to add those to their diet. Potassium, magnesium, and sodium are the usual suspects. Which one(s) and how much will vary with the person

      It’s potassium and sodium depletion. If you’re having cramps, you may benefit adding magnesium. Be careful with potassium as too much is dangerous. I start with quarter teaspoonful potassium in mineral water, large pinch salt, and magnesium citrate. Or, LowSalt in mineral water.

    Carnivore dieters who eat fruit are carnivores to me bcuz with me, I eat fruit at times bcuz I crave it. It’s the body saying you need a piece of fruit right now. And when I have it I feel happy. I haven’t found a way to overcome the craving for fruit that comes at times, so I don’t think that it changes the diet that I’m doing everyday which is carnivore. So, I can’t agree with her on that part.
    From my experience, the carnivore diet takes times to adjust to and become more of over time. We all grew up on carbs, and that can’t just completely vanish just like that. Just bcuz we come up with a notion of eating nothing at all besides meat. We tried it and most who did found that they are craving something from the carb family. Just as vegans make meat replicas of vegetables.

    • @nataliajimenez1870
      @nataliajimenez1870 Рік тому +2

      Some that are 95-99% carnivores called themselves "ketovores" or having a "meat-based diet". Some people with severe issues might have to be ruminant-only eaters while others do well with a little bit of fruit and honey. Everybody is different and we have to figure out what works best for us. Sometimes you have to be strict at the beginning, particularly if you need your gut to heal, and after it has healed you can reintroduce a small amount of fruits/veggies

    I don't get it, why would anyone take health advice from someone who looks that unhealthy?
    In reality, almost every single one of your ~100 trillion cells is constantly screaming out for carbohydrate, because the benefits of oxidizing sugar over fatty acids or ketones are countless, something anyone with a basic understanding of the associated biochemistry can easily understand. If you want to be healthy and not look like a tired old hag, never ever limit carbohydrate consumption.
