If you guys remember when him and Abraham went to the bullet making factory for the first time and they're talking about how Abraham is there to protect him, he tells him that he "adapts to survive" and that he is a "true survivor now". This is probably him just adapting to the situation he's in so he survives. There's no way he turned on Rick and the gang that easily.
KevinC119 I dunno, that kind of power is intoxicating, especially to a man with delusions of grandeur, who's intelligence has been underutilized. Here with Negan he has prestige, power, authority. I think this episode really went to show how Negan has so many people willing to be "Negan". Plus I think it would be a daring move to have a turncoat from the group. Having him be secretly still with Rick is so predictable and boring imho
KevinC119 Yeah I understand you wouldn't want to anger violent psychos but at the very same time he's helping them build defenses and maybe bullets later which would make sense after neagan saw they worked. But I understand why he wouldn't really argue or fight back he has a room choice of food a fucking atari. And status over others.
Girls: You're a coward. Eugene: That is a correct assessment. Negan: Who are- (you?) Eugene: I am Negan. Utterly, completely, stone-cold Negan. I was Negan before I even met you, I just needed to meet you properly to know. I'm Negan. If Eugene is a coward but is also "Negan" then Eugene is also saying that Negan is a coward. At least that's how I took it.
You guys really got the feeling that Dwighty went Full Negan? For me it seamed that he is definitely going to betray him, it looks like he hates him for what happened to Sherry and is did not forget her at all, he is trying to protect her saying she is dead, and he is trying to destroy the Saviors by framing their only doctor and stuff. It appeared he tried to talk to Eugene at the end to see if they could work together since he was from Alexandria and still was new there, but he was surprised by Eugene commitment to Negan already, which would soil his plans.
Exactly. By framing the doctor he has a reason to get over his wife now (since she was making out with the doctor). And by saying he killed her, he now showed that he is in for the Negan cause. I wonder if Negan knew this and killed the doctor to show Dwight that he values him. I wonder how smart Negan is. He cant trust anyone really even if they act like it. The "We are Negan" from Eugene is kind of testing Dwight since Eugene knows what Dwight did. Eugene may not be sure what intentions Dwight accually has, so he tries to get a reaction out of him. And it somewhat shows that they are not as different. Both try to survive by pretending to be part of Negan but also play the long game to get rid of negan eventually.
Absolutely. His "yeah" sounded so unsure at the end. Also, I interpreted the beer and pretzels scene differently. Sherry didn't wait for Dwight because she didn't know if she could trust him anymore, but the fact that he brought beer and pretzels (like he said he would) suggests that he intended to stay with her for good this time. Just me?
Well it could be interpreted in many ways. He could try to convience her to stay while eating together. Or it could be interpreted as an hangman meal (or maybe kill her if she doesnt come back with him). Or yeah, maybe he would have stayed and gone away with her. I believe he is smart enough to not let her go back. She or he would definitly get punished. He probably would have stayed with her, but since he wasnt able to, he kept going to "be Negan" and framed the Doctor. Or maybe he expected Negan to be smart enough to spot the frame and kill Dwight (kind of like losing all hope and suicide, because it kind of felt risky to play this frame game). He basically wanted to test what Negan thinks about him now. The "yeah" indeed didnt sound very conviencing to me. And i believe Eugene is smart enough to notice. They both are in a decent spot now, but it still at any point could go out of control once shit hits the fan.
After Sherry got away, Dwight doesn't have to be Negan anymore, he doesn't have to worry about her now. The Doctor Was fully Negan. he got rid of the Doctor for 2 reasons, he needed to blame someone and he needed to convince Negan she is dead AND he just took out Negans top Doctor. Dwight has turned to the light side. Tara had a conversation with someone 2 seasons ago about the strengths of Eugene, he is smart but he is like a chameleon he can adjust to his environment and can convince someone to protect him. Negan and Abraham have similar personalities so it wouldn't be to hard to manipulate Negan into believing he is valuable. Negan thinks Eugene is a "Doctor" that made him irreplaceable.
like how Negan said, "Glad we have another Dr. Carson." The doc at Hill Top is Dr. Carson and the brother of the doc that got BBQ so i see them going there to get the other brother.
@@burtonboard44 yes he said he was a doctor but doctor doesn't mean as in like a doctor that checks on people or what not. (written abbreviation Dr) a person who has the highest degree (= qualification) from a college or university
It was cool to see Eugene grow some balls this episode. I am hoping he is going to play a vital role in Negan's downfall as the inside man I guess you could call him. Thats why I think he is sucking up to Negan, get in his good books so he can go wherever he wants and do whatever you want. I also again managed to sympathize with Dwight and then hate his fucking guts in the same episode again. That's the telling of a good actor. I do think Dwight is on the path to the good side so to speak and I think Eugene will help him down it. Good episode. Probably one of my favorites of the season.
I totally see it going down that way to, Katie. Yes Eugene is a self confessed coward, but everyone seems to have forgotten the way he stepped up and admitted to making the bullet, he needed some balls for that. And as a bonus, being a coward is the perfect cover. He wants revenge for Abraham and Glen no doubt, that little smile while holding the jar of pickles lot me everything. He and Dwight are going to be the knife in the back that Negan never saw coming. I really really hope :)
xxdavecz I am entitled to my own opinion and that old lady was acting like a bitch to him, which made him reply the way he did. So yeah I thought it was cool that he grew a bit of a backbone.
Haha you realise we are talking about a TV show right dude? It's not real life. I make a comment about a TV show and you think you have the right to disrespect my family? Ease up Jesus christ....
Daryl lost his original bike when the Prison fell. Dwight's bike is the same style of bike though. When Daryl escaped from the Savior's compound he got back his new bike, the one Aaron gave him.
To me this episode was a good way to show that Rick has a team within the saviors that he doesnt know about yet. (The wives, Dwight, Eugene.) Dwight has already decided to destroy them from the inside, and what better way to start than with their doctor. The wives want to kill Negan. Who knows what Eugene is up to.
The girl with the tattoo on her neck name is Lindsley Register. The character she plays name is Laura. Just like Negan, Dwight is not going anywhere anytime soon. 😀
Guys I have seen some people foreshadowing and hinting at things that happen in the comics. that is still technically spoilers so please refrain from posting them please. Any future spoilers or foreshadowing comments will be deleted.
I think he has wanted to feel safe from the start & even though there is the threat of Negans punishments to witness or avoid himself, he would enjoy the perks & safety in his cowardly heart. He will conform & participate until a better possibility presents itself, then will turn - in the end picking the right path over the bad one going against his cowardliness. Moments of bravery that he has shown little by little throughout show.
It is incredibly hard for me to believe that after seeing Abe's head get bashed in, that Eugene would go full Savior. He is most certainly playing the long con. But if he does, that would be interesting too.
I agree with Eric that its exciting for it to be so ambiguous. Whether its Eugene playing double-agent or going full Hail Hydra, both would believably fit his character, which is an ambiguity that couldn't happen with Daryl. I also would love if Eugene went full evil, simply because completely 180ing character development, under believable circumstances, is so rare as to be fresh. I think Eugene might not even be fully decided himself. He might be thinking along the lines of "If I see an out, I'm out, but shit, I could get used to this."
Dwight framed the doctor to save Sherry. It made his story of her being dead more believable. If you look at Dwight's expressions, he's not really happy about doing it, but he was committed to covering for his wife as well as keeping himself alive. I also believe Dwight assumed he would merely get the iron and thus would still survive.
Why do people automatically assume Eugene has joined the Saviors? Anyone in their right mind would act the part in this "currently" un-winnable situation.
Burning Cinder he has POWER....which he didn't have with Rick and crew...power corrupts! Even though that kind of power is tenous and based on a lie. Plus Rosita busting his chops since they met up. He gets to have more stuff and thangs, lol!
I'm glad you guys were able to appreciate the beauty and complexity of the Dwight scenes when he went home. Though Dwight is still a douche at least is a more complex douche and we have more of an understanding of what motivates him. Whether or not he will be key in taking down Negan from the inside temains to be seen.
I can easily see Eugene becoming one of Negan's top Henchmen. Negan is giving him everything he wants. He feels important. Negan's made him into a big shot. How can he resist that?
First where would Dwight and Sherry go they realize there only chance was to go back that's how it works you will be forced back if you found or killed
I think Eugene knows what he is doing. He's acting scared to make Negan think he's not a threat but I'm sure he has something up his sleeve! At least I hope so lol
I think he could be going full "Negan". Especially with the dialogue between him and Rosita in that episode where she wanted him to make the bullet. She turned him away from the group by berating him and he feels much more respected and valuable with Negan.

The cinematography in the Dwight scene in the house reading the letter had such a Breaking Bad feel to it.

Not even close.

I'm Neagan!
Detective Shane "What if they wanna give it to Negan"
The second they talked about the poison and it was the wives that mentioned it I knew immediately that the pills were for Negan.
Eugene was a High School Science Teacher or College Science Professor before, Negan was a gym teacher or coach of a sports team in high school/college
GroupOfGamersInc194 chemistry teach and ping pong instructor.
Saying that Negan was a high school gym teacher is a spoiler?
We've known about Negan and Eugene for a while so it isn't a spoiler
You might have known from the comics, but its never been told in the show.
I thought the comics said Negan used to be a used car salesman, which was why he's able to play people so well.
It is almost 5am, I have a midterm at 11, and I am watching this video right now, #Priorities
Good luck on your midterm! You still have a few hours.
as much as I hate to say it, I kind of missed negan. like, he's definitely 100% a dick, but he's such a good character.

Olslap, I just went to her IMDb and found what she's been in. I hate HOC so I didn't get past the first episode but that's what she's been in lol.
I think she might have looked fimiliar to them because she came to Alexandria with Negan, which is a while back..

I think they mean the other Dr. Carson at the Hilltop, not Eugene.
They're talking about Harlan Carson from Hilltop Colony, younger brother to Emmett Carson.
It's the same lie he told Abraham
I think Eugene is too smart to be brainwashed that quickly and easily. I think he's just playing lip service.
