- out on the hostel homestead we have all kinds of crazy projects. this one's an oldie but a goodie. it is a pneumatic golf ball cannon! barrel speed is estimated at 350 ft per second, with a range of... I have no idea... but it's fun to shoot!
Mate i have a disability and so much miss my boys day on Fridays. This will get my drive down there ;) oh i have parkinsons
As a sprinkler tech, this is hilarious
What kind of PSI do you think that valve can handle? I've run it up to 120psi no problem. But I'd like to go further

Construct that from all steel components, mount it on a swivel base and I'd say that's pretty close to lethal out to about 75 yds if you headshot the enemy.
It's lethal currently barrel speed is just under 400 fps. I do want to rifle a barrel for it out of 404 SS, but really no need for steel on the other bits, the sprinkler valve would still be plastic still.
If I were using combustion as a propellent and not compressed air, totally would use steel or minimum black iron pipe.

We had a set of frame hooks on the inside of my buddies conversion van that would hold both sides of the water balloon launcher, we would splitting the door open and send 3 to 4 balloons out into crowds of people 🤣

I will look at them for sure, but the barrel is 1.5 inch class 200(not schedule). And the cyber is 3 inch schedule 40. The sprinkler valve is one inch.
Next test : golf balls molded from rabbit pellets, do they hit as hard?

Why not a big ball valve instead of sprinkler valve?
Good question, the sprinkler valve gives me a faster firing trigger mechanism, allows for remote triggering via solenoid, that allows me to mount it on a tripod and stand away, or have it underneath of my truck while I'm driving and firing

The barrel is class 200 inch and a half PVC then the expansion chamber is 3 in neck down to two in elbows down to a one inch sprinkler valve
No pressure guage ?
Not on the cannon, but on the air compressor I can set it to the PSI I want (usually about 90, but I've had it up to 135 no problem).
@@HostileHare we put one on the tank just to make sure that we didn't over pressurize it .
@@jefffindley5870 I considered putting a 150 PS I blow off valve on the tank, but I didn't want to spend much money on this, it was built in 20 minutes as proof of concept. the next one I build will actually be propane or acetylene powered and have a reaction chamber made of high pressure conduit/pipe.
The word is SOLenoid.
