    Depends on the PSI you use and the type of balloon you choose. Cheaper material balloons will explode in the cannon with the PSI too high. To answer your question I tried the following setup: I used some Dollar Tree water balloons with the system set at 120 PSI and a paper cup underneath them for support. I was able to get the balloon to shoot up to 125 feet with the barrel at a 45 degree angle to the ground.
    I'm sure if you upped it to 150 with a stronger balloon you could get 200 feet.

    about 2 cups of water in the barrel before you put the balloon in works better as a wading. it not only lubricates the barrel protecting the balloon as it leaves the barrel, it also allows you to shoot at higher PSI and add more velocity.

      None of that will matter if the balloon ruptures. Which it will at higher PSI.

      Maybe you can add some kind of protection against the walls of the cannon. Like a apdfs round.

    You were given credit for design inspiration in the rolling credits at the end of the video. But I went ahead and linked your channel in the description text as well! Thanks for the comments.

    Excellent could it not be angled to shoot at a target ?

  • @alfredotebasco
    @alfredotebasco 9 років тому +1

    You could use this to lay down petrochemicals on a target before you fire an ignition shot, perfect for taking down foes!

    If I were to angle the canon how far could the balloon reach?

      use physics man. Calculate the force on the balloon by the mortar. Then time in the air would be determined by the vertical velocity of the balloon

    I wired the sprinkler valve and tested it before the final install. The only action is a clicking sound in the solenoid. Is that normal or is something wrong?

      TheGeekPub That's not the point though, using spray paint in closed space isn't safe to breathe.

      Mike West Thought so but he's been doing it for 10 years and he seems fine. Maybe the more industrial grade spray paints would require protection and better ventilation.

    Should hold glued PVC for 30-seconds as briefly held glued PVC joints tend to spread outward unless forced to set properly. 30-seconds seems-and--is--a long time but it is worth it, especially on important joints under pressure.

    I got the exact same rain bird valve as you and for power used 4 double a's...I tried it by putting water in the flow end and then connecting the power and I felt something inside move but the water didn't do anything, plz help...

      @TheGeekPub  9 років тому

      +Paul Busch (IrobotGaming) It only works under pressure. That's how they are designed.

      do I have enough power though?

    • @TheGeekPub
      @TheGeekPub  9 років тому

      +Paul Busch (IrobotGaming) I'm not able to answer that. I doubt it though. A 9V works fine.
