What a lame movie was Shazam, that, by the way.
Quite selective history... Forgot to show her battling her demons with alcoholism, something even Tony Stark related with and helped her overcome while she was an avenger. It is an important part of her character and shows a lot of development.
And that in and since Civil War 2 she has been a determinist and very authoritarian. In a rehash of Minority Report, she basically enslaved a teenage precog mutant, strapping him to a machine in an orbital satelite and use his visions as justification to arrest and imprison basically anybody that could do any crime. To the point of using her starpower to manipulate Kamala Khan (the current ms.marvel who appears incredibly impressionable) and a troupe of teenagers to go out and arrest people based on these visions without responding to any official organization while disrespecting all sorts of international human rights laws and following Carol's orders without question (not even Kamala cared to do much against it as she felt conflicted only when a friend of hers got arrested). The teens even used nazi-inspired outfits.
Besides that, all Carol has done is manage a reality show in a space station and later form the most inexpressive and useless Alpha Flight team who did nothing of note...
I am a Super Hugh fan of Carol Danvers, A.K.A., Captain Marvel in this list! I'll always have my Full Support and my Utmost Respect for her! She'll always have my symphonies and condolences.

Personally, I still feel that, as much as I have great respect for Marvel Comics, the name of "Captain Marvel" seriously belongs to the "SHAZAM" franchise. I find it very sad that Marvel Comics has NOT returned the character name for a long time.
Her origin has been recently retconned. In the new comic Life of Captain Marvel its revealed her mom was a Kree solider who fled to earth and fell in love with a human. This makes her half Kree and her powers are actually an ancient Kree superpower passed down through generations. The psyche megnatron merely awakened her latent powers

am I alone in thinking that Brie Larson was the wrong choice for this role? I don't mean to belittle her, but she doesn't give off a air of commanding respect or intimidation when she delivers her lines. I've seen the trailers and the word "meh" has escaped my lips twice. I know this is trying to be the new Captain America type hero, but when you got an actor who looks like she could fall over with a stiff breeze I question the choice of actor.

It has nothing to do with American politics or gender; it's the fact that Captain Marvel is not well regared amongst most comic book fans, but she is going to be the key to Avengers 4 and that is not sitting well with MCU fans. She's coming into the middle of act 3 and she's going to save the day, which could be problematic storywise.

Daredevil (2003), Elektra (2005), X-Men: The Last Stand (2006), both Ghost Rider movies, X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009), Iron Man 2 (2010), Thor: The Dark World (2013) and a few others are all Marvel movies I have problems with. I also watch DC, Lord of the Rings, Wimpy Kid, Hobbit, Harry Potter, and various other topics.

So Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel is going to be the first female marvel superhero to get her own movie.
No, We've had Elekra (or is she an anti hero?), Wonder Woman (both live action and animated; new one in development ), Vixen (animated), Sailor Moon ( 3 animated movies), Silver Hawk (I think it's either Chinese or Japanese) and Cat Woman (which was odd), but that's just off the top of my head.
Elektra was the first Marvel one. And there's been a ton of female superhero movies. Supergirl, Wonder Woman, Catwoman, Underworld (she's basically a superhero), Vampirella (bad b-movie that should be a good Netflix series), Atomic Blonde... Spoiler alert, 80% of the readers are male (superhero comics) so naturally it makes sense that 80% of solo films would be male leads and not female.
