R.I.P. Fred Willard, 1939-2020. Co-Founder of The Hemoglobin Trotters. Will be remembered through this memorable scene from Harold and Kumar Go To White Castle.
This is a pure example of the intelligent kids I met in college that were not too serious of being in college and more just forced to be there by their parents. Right in the middle of a med school interview, what are you doing? " Oh, nothing important" lmao
I got totally baked before my last job interview. I was so cooked I had to leave my dark glasses on the entire interview. Still got the job and I've been a NYC police detective for 23 years now....
Still funny. I don't know how many times I've thought of this over the years. Just came here because it popped into my mind. Fred's delivery was everything in that scene. RIP
There is a great message about happiness and choice buried under all the jokes and hijinks in this movie. Success is overcoming adversity and sharing joy alongside your friends.
I remember watching this before my medical school interviews and freaking out over the thought of being asked about the symptoms of an illness 😂😂😂😂 In reality, they never asked medical questions that specific.
Finally I found this. If by any chance someone reads this comment, and can explain to me the part where he says hemo globin trotters, I heard this when I was 8 and think about it all the time trying to figure out the joke!!!
What I dont get is what did Kumar do wrong? When speaking to the dean, he was formal, polite, and intelligible. When the call ended, he went right back to the specific topic without missing a beat. The dean didn't object when Kumar's phone rang, but when he spilled his coffee😂😂😂
*"Just because you are hung like a moose, doesn't mean you have to do porn". Deep philosophy right here. IF even half the world's population gets this, we wouldn't be burying ourselves in* *mindless consumerism*
I felt pressured to go to school I never wanted to I would like to think I could figure it out it’s annoying when your parents except so much out of you I’m portrayed as their perfect child but little do they know I partake in particular activities so I’ve just been chillin I’m not the smartest, so I have to put in effort but I just find it annoying to have to go to school. It’s all a scam anyway.
The only thing I didn't understand was if Kumar didn't have a desire to go to medical school which he mentioned, why did he attend the interview and why did he not misbehave before Harold called him? Later in the movie Kumar's father told him that he has another interview the next day with Dr. Vean which Kumar said he was going to skip the interview.
+Sai Kaushal Yes, I know he mentioned at the end the only reason he was applying to go to medical school was so his father will keep paying for his apartment but, from 0:01-0:35 explains that Kumar didn't misbehave at all during the interview where it sounds like he was answering the questions properly but lucky for him, he had the opportunity to misbehave when Dr. Willoughby said that he will end with one last question. Mostly Kumar has no interest in attending medical school to be a doctor but, he could have started misbehaving when the interview started or he could have skipped the interview since he said he was going to skip the interview with Dr. Vean. (I can only guess that he didn't skip the interview with Dr. Willoughby because his father must have drove him down to the medical school and/or his father must have walked him up to the office).
+Sai Kaushal That's true he doesn't care. His father did tell him that if he doesn't attend the interview with Dr. Vean, his father told him that he will completely stop paying for his apartment and Kumar did tell Harold that he (Kumar) is going to skip the interview not caring if his father doesn't pay for the apartment anymore but, Kumar did get an epiphany at the end (the burgers probably gave him more energy to think) seeing how much fun it was saving that one patient from dying, and getting a yelling persuasion from his dad, and seeing Neil Patrick Harris as Dr. Doogie Hauser persuaded Kumar to want to be a doctor.
AbuBakr Akram Not really... after you pay for all the malpractice insurance its not as much as people think. it'd be smarter to get a different job and do business on the side like real estate or something.
AbuBakr Akram it takes a long time...in the beginning you'll be working 80 hour weeks doing rounds in the residency...by the time you can set up your own practice, you'll be an old geezer...better to get a 4 year degree save up money and invest in some business ventures.
Ishbu101 True. In the beginning, you have to work your butt off. But cut off 3 years of pre-med if you're not in the US. The majority of the world does students a favor by cutting of pre-med and replacing it with 5 years of med school. And there tends to be less Residrncy (house-job).
