    Thank you, Julian, for being here! I am 1 year into my tinnitus journey and I have gotten so much better.
    Please don't worry everyone, it will get better. Put yourself first and reflect on what would make you happy. You are worthy of a good life. You have all the time in the world. Be patient, create healthy habits that you love. And it will get better.
    I wish you all the best, I am sure you will find your own way to be happy and relax

      I wanted to add: now that I am better, I still game from time to time, so if you are overall relaxed, you can of course play video games. And yesterday I went to the Opera and it was quite loud - but my tinnitus didn't mind at all, it did not flare up again. Be patient, and you can live a normal life again eventuallly.

    I'm sure we have hyper hearing problem as you said , once i told friend i was annoyed by the buzz of electrical device he was not able to hear it until huge focusing effort and was amused i can hear it naturally so yes tinnitus is a natural sound of the mind every one can hear when their hearing is hyper weird like us , i can hear many sounds others cannot hear unless they are focused on it with effort ...

      Yeah, I must say, I also have this experience. I notice sounds that other people just aren't aware of until I point it out to them. It makes sense to me that this would occur due to being in fight or flight mode with respect to your hearing. It would seem reasonable then to suggest that if you work to come out of fight or flight mode, the normal filtering mechanisms would being to apply again. I've noticed this happening too; my brain was filtering things until it occurred to me to think about my hearing, then I become aware of them again.

      I can hear a very high flow of electricity sound frequency even in another of our inverter even in other close room..nobody else in my family hears it and thinks i am overthinking bcoz of my T. This makes sense.

      Once i was sleeping at my friends house, before tinitus, and woke up cause of very low buzz, and i figure out it comes from tv plugged in electricity. But it was so anoying for me couldn's sleep, had to unplugg it 😆 friend told me next morning she cant hear it. Also clocks ticking, can't sleep with it have to take batteries out at night. Snoring and dogs barking can send my anxaety to the roof. I guess i'm hypesensitive. And never understood how can i hear that when i sleep it wakes me up and have hearing loss. My brain is crazy 😆

    Julian, thanks so much for all your informative videos. You really have helped me to appreciate that tinnitus is something that does not have to be permanent. What would you recommend as far as going to a large concert with tinnitus? I have had tinnitus for about 8months (triggered by a very stressful situation) and I would say that since I have calmed down, my tinnitus has as well. I find it more noticeable at the end of the day, but putting on a nature noise at bed time masks it and I sleep very well. By morning it is back to a very quiet level once again. I love going to concerts but fear that even with hearing protection it could worsen it. I appreciate your time in advance.

      Thea Stewart did you confirm you had hearing loss with a ENT?

    • @theastewart6721
      @theastewart6721 6 років тому

      Yes I’ve been to the best doctors and have had 2 Audiograms as well and they want me to have another one next month. The ENT I saw specializes in the ear only. Why do you ask?

    • @Theguitarskater1
      @Theguitarskater1 6 років тому

      Thea Stewart Because I have no hearing loss (tested twice) and have bilateral T.

    • @theastewart6721
      @theastewart6721 6 років тому

      That’s very interesting. I’ve never heard that that before. That doesn’t mean much as I had no idea about any of this before last September. I wish you the best.

    • @Theguitarskater1
      @Theguitarskater1 6 років тому

      Thea Stewart wish the best to you too. Mine started with a panic disorder, My hearing is perfect, from 20hz to 17500khz (im 23 years old). Many people acquire T not only as a hearing loss, Many ENT dont understand that tho. For you hearing loss I would recomend gingko biloba with Zinc supplement as middle ear needs it a lot. Keep in touch, PM me if you have any doubt

    Its opposite for me Jules. The quiet room is where it calms. The noise of the day is what activates it.

    Hello. I have a high pitched tinnitus for 5 years which I've kind of habituated to. It doesn't not make me anxious hearing it, which I do at all times. Three months ago though, I got a new tinnitus in my right ear after attending a loud venue. It is a low frequency rumbling noise which scares me so much. I can no longer be in quiet rooms without breaking down. It's very easily maskable though, like a humming refridgerator will do. But I still feel a pressure in my ear at all times which is really saddening. How can I habituate to the noise if I only hear it in quiet rooms and can't stand it then? I feel out of hope, but I try to keep fighting. Thanks for your videos.

    Thank you so much for all the helpful tips and knowledge you have about tinnitus! It really is amazing to be filled with hope and positivity!
    I have a question.. Would the eustachian tubes have anything to do with tinnitus? Everytime I swallow I hear and 'pop' or 'crackle' and I wonder if they opened up due to sensitivty?
    Thank you for all the work you're doing!

      Carmel Mueller hey i have this too (popping of ears when swallowing). Everybody is different of course but it can be a neck tension issue. For me my neck muscles are so tense they are clenching the eustacian tube. Hope you can find out your cause for it.

    Hey Julian, for me like for some others it is exactly the other way around. When I am in a quiet room or laying in bed really still an quiet the tinnitus gets much quieter. It is the most silent in a soundproof room. And it gets activatet by the noise outside(mainly an ongoing noise like a water boiler or kitchen hood). Is the treatment of that kind of tinnitus the same as you recommend?

    Dear Julian, is it better to avoid quiet places/rooms? When I am in a quiet room at day time I freak out. When the tv is on or there is a background sound I can manage it better. What would you recommend? Thank you. Lots of love

    • @JulianCowanHill
      @JulianCowanHill  2 роки тому +2

      I think the best thing is to take five minutes when you first go into a quiet room to do some gentle body movements or yoga or face massage and see if you can settle yourself down while your ears are habituating in the background. The more you settle in silence the more you can feel comfortable with it. Otherwise just play a radio station or music while you do the same thing: yoga and self soothing practices, and then after about 10 minutes you will be much more habituated to the quiet room anyway.

      Thank you Julian for your answere. I found myself listening out for the sound when iam sitting and to nothing in an quiet room. I do it most of the time when to sound pops in my awareness.I’m now at home from work with a burnout (we call it a disease). my T was very loud! (It starts with the burnout) Now the sound slowly goes down. After 6 months. But Iam still scared that the sound never will go away. Will it ever go? Thank you for you’re video’s and advise. I will take it! Bless you!

    I have seen people say that they got T from loud music but I got it from a smack of the snare drum. My band was setting up and my drummer smacked the snare drum and I was standing 4 feet away with no ear protection. I then proceeded to play a 4 hour show that was incredibly loud and still had no ear protection. That same night I had an ear infection and sinus infection and that’s when anxiety and stress took over. For 4 months my T was at a 9. 10 months later I have habituated some and it’s at a 3 but I still need a masker otherwise it’s at a7 in the quiet. Wondering if anyone else shares a similar story. JCH has been a voice of encouragement to say the least. Hoping for more habituation and letting go. Julian I’d appreciate a response if you see this. Thank you so much!

    goodmorning Julian, my name is Jean-Paul and i am living in Holland and have tinnitus for just over 4 months. I am not working at the moment because of it, and i am still really suffering. First of all, i want to thank you for your supporting video's.There is one question that is constant on my mind; you say in your video's that you have had tinnitus for 20 years, and the last 4 years really severe.My Question is, why did it take so long for you to get better, the only thing i can think of, is that at the time you got your tinnitus there was no internet and not much information about tinnitus, therefore you had to find a way to get rid of your tinnitus by yourself.Dear Julian, i hope you can and want to answer my question.Thank you for already all your help! , Jean-Paul
