This was the first 4 wheeler I ever owned. I got one when they first came out. I had a blast with it. Very easy to learn to ride on. It will force your son to learn the basics so he will be well prepared for a more powerful modern machine.
Nice job making a video that was much more like you. I had that same little bike when I was a kid. A nice set of tires and you'll be surprised at what your boy will be able to get it to do. Again, nice work. This is the kind of realism I like in your work.
Brother and I got a new lt125 for xmas in 1984. It ran forever. That gear above neutral was called "granny low".lol i picked up a barn find 1984 lt185 two years ago in mint condition with 250 miles on it...still has the safety stickers and whiskers on the tires.lol great beginner machines! Enjoy!
If you have one of these, don't push the primer back in if it sticks out. This could potentially rip the priming diaphragm from the excess pressure. Had to replace mine in a Suzuki ALT 125 because it ripped from that and because it was old. The service manual I have also says not to do it. Not saying all carburetors are like this, but the one shown on this ATV shouldn't be pushed in if it stays out while priming. Once the machine runs it will be sucked back in.
NEVER push that primer in!! If it stays out, it means there is fuel already in there ready to go!! Only pull it, let it go back in on it's own power. Once it stays out, it is then primed. If you push it, it WILL break, and then you have the fun looking for parts for a 30 year old ATV. These things are tanks, and run forever, and are super fun. Very light, quick for it's size. Good for beginners, if you observe of course. Very, very light machine. That rear rack is a very good wheelie bar for young'uns to keep them from going over backwards too.
I remember those days..Aghh to be a kid again lol
My dad had a pair of 1980's Honda 110 ATCs, those things were a blast to tool around the sand dunes with when I was a kid. This takes me back!
