This was a blast!!! I love ink and have had almost zero restraint in ink samples + lots of help/enablement from pen friends, viewers and more! My regret is that I haven't yet found local fountain pen people... it would be amazing to swap inks and bring bottles to a pen meet to give + trade! You're one of the first channels ~ people I Learned from when I first started in 2016!!! Your end of year content is always so much fun + puts a bright happy light on my days, thank you!!!!! I'm loving the Dominant Industry inks I've come across ... the price here in the US is now (at Vanness) $17.00 US for standard inks and $19.95 for the shimmer/pearlescent ones. They are so good ... I fell hard for their Christmas Red it sold out before I could get a bottle. Happy New Year!!! Soon lol.
i'm lucky that a phd student in our group at the university is as crazy about fountain pen paper ink as i am. We complement each other very well and I don't want to miss that anymore. He knows so many inks, and I think he's heard most of them on your channel... 🙂
Weren't kidding when you had a lot of ink, 56 bottles. Hope you rock through them in your journals, and other writings. Perhaps transcribing War & Peace can knock down a bottle or two, lol.
Wow. This is why I subscribe. You know your stuff. BTW, you look way different. Been working out or just my eyes?? Best Regards and Best Wishes for 2023!
Awesome tour! Trying to avoid fomo hard with inks. I want ALL THE COLOURS. My most spontaneous ink purchase this year was Wearinguel “A Taxidermied Genius” and I love it. Least fav is the underwhelming Montblanc burgundy. Love looking at other people’s ink video for what to try next…
Your videos are a great source of information. Your channel has been one of the earliest that I subscribed to and I love your presentation style. Collection of inks is around 10x the size of mine, but I really only started in the hobby in February or March 2022. My collection of bottles of ink are only four inks. Rohrer & Klingner Scabiosa, Platinum Mixable Black, Private Reserve Electric DC Blue, and Platinum Carbon Black (my most used, use it everyday at work.) I wish there were more interesting inks in the waterproof/archival inks as those are what I use the most. I did swatches of my inks and noticed that Platinum Mixable black dries with a brown tint while Platinum Carbon Black is like your sample more dark grey. I check Wonder Pens almost daily looking for the return of Ginger Chicken. Ginger chicken is a gorgeous ink. So many inks I want to try.
Lamy Turmaline looks great. I think I only have Turquoise. I love going to Moutain of Ink's blog and seeing all those comparisons. Thanks for this video, which was super helpful!
If I may ask, what do you write or draw? I finished two to three bottles (maybe 50 or 60 ml capacity) from my sixth grade until 12th (high school). The bottle in college probably I lost when I left my hostel. And after graduation I have four bottles so far at home and all have some amount of ink in them.
Enjoyed this very much.... thanks! The comparison of ancient copper and ginger chicken was very helpful. I Didn't realize that night-in-Jodhpur and polar glow were so very close, almost the same. Lol.. I don't think that I could pick just one favorite ink, I seem to go through different phases with them.
I have 50 samples, it fills up one of those little test tube racks and I stopped because it was full. I went for some Shogun the other day and it was black/grey instead of brown, though, so I think some samples might need rehydration and it's just a weird situation to be in. If you've ever wondered what bad thing will happen if you buy all the samples I think this may be it lol.
Assuming there’s no contamination from uncleaned pen reloading, the ink should last essentially decades. Mould, etc. only happens if the bottle suffers outside contamination. What will happen is evaporation - but only the water content evaporates, not the pigment; so essentially your grandchildren or great grandchildren could just add water and stir and the ink might be useable. I have not tested that theory with any antique purchases of old ink bottles, but even if that’s inaccurate, there’s no reason an ink wouldn’t last your own lifetime at least.
You can look at ink swatches and reviews of ink online but you don't really know an ink until you try it, my biggest disappointment this year (inkwise) is Pelikan Edelstein Topaz. Much too bright for my taste.
Yeah, that was me with apache sunset, at least on the paper I use it just ends up yellow and feathery when it dries. I'll grab some nicer paper like watercolour but other inks like Noodler's black will write crisply even on newsprint. Baystate Blue is all I could have hoped for, and Lexington gray is a favorite.
great video!! I do like tsuki-yo very much, too! Blu cosmico (scribo) and asa-gao (irosizuku) urushi-red (franklin christoph) Apache Sunset (Noolers) Jane Austen (deAtramentis) ultragreen (diamine) ... buttercup (private resere) California Teal (Monteverde) ... never ending lists... stonegrey (fabe castell) xfeather (noodlers)... 🙂
I appreciate all these videos. I am looking at many inks and these swabs and short reviews are nice. I find writers blood, ancient copper, and polar glow looks interesting. Haven't tried them yet.
ginger chicken looks amazing!! sadly I'm not in Canada. I've also been dying to try SBRE brown. I'm pretty new to fountain pens so I don't have a ton of ink yet, but I am definitely in danger of ending up with a bunch of samples (I have nine right now and like 15 constantly sitting in my cart at Vanness although I've so far resisted actually buying them lol)
I am intrigued that you have a UA-cam following, and such a large interest in pens. It shows how small life can get for certain. Maybe you didn't have any dates or any children? Anyway, interesting good stuff.
Hey John, the same could be said about you. Who has such a small life that they trawl UA-cam to pick on women who are a considered an important part of a hobby community. Bit troll like and somewhat creepy!
I think her videos are excellent. 👍 She seems like a lovely person and she's sharing her hobby... with people thousands of miles away- not so small a life...at all.

Those wonder pens ink bottles are amazing! Beautiful light bulb shape!
Diamine Ancient Copper is my favorite....barnacles and all...LOL.

I definitely enjoy the Trouble Maker kelp tea.

Diamine Writers Blood, hands down, is my favorite! Loved your video.

Epic tour through the collection! I'm amazed you managed to keep it down to half an hour .
Thank you for a fantastic year of videos.
You’re gonna be the reason i go bankrupt. New subbie 😊
there she goes again.. thanks
Wow first comment heheh💕💕
I fell in love with diamine ancient copper.
It helps if you wrote the names in the ink.

I have and really like Lamy Turquoise but hadn't seen the Tourmaline, which is more teal and looks really good.

Do you have any cartridges that have ink not in a bottle?
Quick question about inks. You may have already answered this but how long will ink last when covered and out of the day light?

@@kimberly3706s Thank you for responding. Great info
I would love to know how you go about using all these inks. Do you keep a journal and write every day? I could never finish an entire bottle of ink 😢

Thank You! Love your enthusiasm and content. I found your efforts informative and fun. You radiate!
In case it was missed in another one of your videos: I call dibs on Montblanc Lavender Purple should you ever wish to sell one bottle! 💜🐈

If you didn’t have a channel, would you have fewer bottles?
The sad part is, probably not 🤣
What’s the name of the ink the top third one that’s light blue?
Wearingeul Lost

Shut up. Having a hobby doesn’t preclude having a life.

Kind of useless thing to collect
