What a great sound that drummer has. So crisp and delicate. Nice touch.
I luv how drummers and people that dont understand harmony and Notes praise the drummers because they cant tell whats going on apart from drumm strokes and percutive sounds lol...
He's very accomplished, indeed. The entire band is top shelf.
@@santiagobenitez1388 I love how unnecessarily rude this reply was to a comment complementing a fantastic musician. I am studying music theory and jazz drum set and can confirm that this Drummer is in fact very good. The rest of the musicians are also amazing
@@KaiOwensDrums I probably was drunk and having a very bad day LOL.
@@santiagobenitez1388 ajajja shit happens
My phone just burst into flames from all this fire
Honestly one of my favorite versions of Giant Steps
yes!
No one should look this handsome while holding air in the cheeks
LOL Yeah, that chad lb is one hell of a "cool-dude" I understand what you mean...!
One of the best Tenor sax sounds I ever heard colorfully reach incredible interpretation of Giant Steps
This is the 47th time I'be listened to this today. Yes, It's that good
Leaving a comment here so I can tell my kids that I knew Chad is gonna be the next sax legend. They are gonna look at me as if I'm a legend too. ;)
Brilliant playing...what a gifted tenor player...great musicianship all around
when is this arrangement going on the website for sale? (not that I'd attempt playing it) just want to look at it..
His style reminds me of a distilled more stream-lined Michael Brecker. Very clean and rich. BTW, I mean that as a 100% positive compliment because as much as much as I loved Brecker, it was hard to break things down into individual notes....especially back in the old "run back and forth" between your horn and the record player days.
No comparison to Micheal your dreaming
@@saxchillz2328 I’m a huge brecker fan but Chad LB easily is up there with him in certain ways.
@@saxchillz2328 Big Whig & Duncan Cofell are right
Finally!!!! A real jazz artist. Playing w/real jazz artists. So tired of the quasi-proxy bullshit people call jazz today. This is a breathe of fresh air.
Really nice chops drummer, which proves that you don’t have to hit hard to sound good,
Four guys making a great take on Giant Steps.
Nothing like the full sound of a tenor sax
What a great arrangement and performance from everyone in this band! Beautiful lines! Great job!
OMG this is absolutely amazing. Fantastic arrangement
by far my favourite cover of giant steps, listened to this soo many times
BUMP still listening to it and loving it.
@ 1:35 is such a beautiful transition
engineered very well! crisp drums and everything sounds super clean, you can really hear every single note! great playing from all the guys as well
Just imagine Coltrane travelling to the future and seeing this. Such a giant step (lol) forward from the much more simplistic style of soloing Coltrane did on that album. I think he'd love it!
You should play it a half step up just for a screw lmao. but totally rocked this to hell
Coming back to this every once in a while, great playing from everyone
Succinct arrangement, mellifluous delivery, sustained intensity over a challenging song, keep up the great work!
so fresh!
2:51 is such a powerful smooth transition.
jazz4asahel 2-5-1?
@@colondaniel5624 Smile. I'm self-studying, bass mostly, sketchily for years and years. Getting there. Going to try some 2-5-1 changes now that you've mentioned them. Thanks.
yo! this is the same-ish arrangement for the virtual big band version!
Damm! this was simply amazing...up there with all the best!!
Fine arrangement of the classic piece. Very fine emsemble playing. Overall, a win. Thanks to all.

Drummer looks into the camera for his whole solo hahaha so killing
Que barbaridad! ! Mis respetos Chad !!!
Impresionante!!!!! Excelente!!!!!!!!!👏👏👏👏👏
Good groove! very nice...
splendida versione……….esilirante !!!
Feifke (his big band arrangements are awesome), Markovitz and Macbride; what a great rhythm team. What polyrhythm is used on the second round of the head?
Tom Parker i think it's three against four. I also agree what you said, what a scene there is now!
actually 4 against 3
ok i got it. So its 2 against 3 quarter notes, which means it is a little shorter than each measure. It takes 4 measures for it to line up. It's better described as 2 and 2 thirds against 4.
JUHUUUUUUUU!
I think i hear michael brecker all up in those licks!! Ur insane man and ur sound is killer. Tell me are you 5 gum cause ur too fresh!!!
I think i heard a chris potter lick in there too
🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
this is sick
cool arrangement!
👏👏
WOW!! Your sound in this video was 10 times better than all others in my opinion!! Is that a new mouthpiece? Which ia it?
yee
nice modulation at the end
Coltrane smiling in the sky ...
great man !
Классная заготовка
I like that you improvise and dont copy the original
wwowowowo.. F A B U L O S O 😯😯😯😯😯
Ele está ligado na partitura?
Pazzesco!
Ah, that polyrythm section is delicious
killer
Nice arrangement
What strings is the upright bass player using? Amazing recordings guys
Well done mate
this is great playing! but i'm confused why they are reading the music when they are soloing. Is it habit? they obviously know the chords inside out.
Roland Satterwhite i do it all the time when i solo just cuz it gives me something to look and i’m able to focus on the solo instead of looking around the room
Hai.. The arrangement so great! Doy have the score for solo and band? How can I buy it?
Why does he play with the sax more to the right of his mouth, I thought it was supposed to be in the mid...any help?👀
On the way to virtuosity, some masters develop 'non-standard' or 'deviated' habits to obtain better sound, more fitting their physical facial character and they are more comfortable with it. You don't start like that as a rule, of course, :) and not everybody does it. Some, for example inflate their cheeks, some don't and breathe circularly instead. My advice, do as you are taught, for a long long time. Once you achieve mastery, may be you discover too. But only then. :)
Yuksel Oden ohhhhh, that makes sense!! Thank you sooo much :) have a good day
You too! :)
You would have to ask him, but there is no rule, and no one plays perfectly centered. Comfort and results are usually the reason.
@bzalto Yes there is a rule! There are many rules! Without the proper technique, no one could play for poo and everyone would sound like crap! Now if you're Chad and you sound like that, you can do whatever you want. lol Even Chad abides by the rules, he just breaks others... at least the embouchure one. lol
quais as escala que vc usou para improviso nesse tema
Hi chad which mouthpiece are you using here? Such a depth and ring in the sound!
It looks like his signature syos mouthpiece to me
