Question …. Just because one note of the pentatonic scale (in your shifting section) how do we determine each note is relative ? It’s a bit confusing because like is this just to sound a certain way , like the chords that every different pentatonic makes over the chord should be communicated.
This video was really helpful until I picked up my sax and tried to play along with you and realized everything is in C concert, so everything you say I have to transpose, have you thought of making a video that’s in tenor sax key? Thanks
So if I understand, while the rhythm section is vamping Cm7, you would play these pentatonics cells to get outside the key changes in various ways to put it in simpler terms?
It’s great that you want to study in NYC and receive a complete exposure to the jazz tradition. Keep in mind that city college, nyu, Rutgers, cuny, new school, Long Island U, as well as private study with the best players in the world who are a subway ride away. IMO the main factor driving success as a jazz musician will be your intense fascination with music and the art of improvisation combined with creativity and discipline. Chad seems to have worked as hard as a student on the stand with great musicians as he did in the practice room or classroom.

Lot of info there Chad! Come back in 20 years when youve mastered it Padawan
what is the exact text when you sing the notes?
For the etude section or pentatonics lick have to be memorized and all 12 keys be considered learned?
My plan is to study at the Manhattan school of Music when I'm out of HS😼 (this is so irrelevant I know)
Check out New school, too. Different from MSM, but a great program.
Good luck to you, man. I just finished up my college jazz program auditions; if you ever want some advice hit me up!

They’re the same scales starting from a different place.
