- Don't be alarm, this is The Truck Chronicles...even thought I'm not in the truck. About a month back I did a reaction video to the infamous Niki Sky video.Well apparently, it did go over well with some people.
I am confused as to how the narrative of events had gotten confused. This "conversation" is not the way to take control of the situation. Accountability would probably work better in my opinion. It would be nice if some influencers stop playing the victim and start taking responsibility for their actions and words that were offensive to some. It would be great if influencers, celebrities and humans alike learn how to apologize and stop gaslighting the very people they harm. In my opinion. Allegedly.

Great video. In my view, Niki is a priviledged rich person who made way too many generalizations about us who like luxury handbags. I think she was just buying the bags for the wrong reasons, so this wasn't some grand epiphany.
Yep. She had an it girl phase and now she's in her mommy phase. As her children get older, she is going to find herself again. As women we all deserve to feel good to get what we want and to look good.
That definitely wasn’t an interview. In my opinion, it was a PR clean up and an exposure opportunity.
I don’t inherently think that anything is wrong with that, but it could have been achieved while maintaining integrity and taking accountability.

I got the whole, I'm a victim because I'm a mother now, and since I'm responsible for little people, my words and actions are holier than yours. It was the combination of the lecturing and the music in the original video for me, like i felt like she acting like she was a member of the clergy or my huzband or something. I'm like, Ho, you spent the tens of thousands of dollars on handbags, i just want one or two after my emergency fund is fully funded.

Well, let's be real. His objective here was getting in front of her massive audience. I can't begrudge him for that, but his goal was to appease her subscribers so they will subscribe to him, rather than anger them. He still could have done that and asked her tough questions. It might have helped her, actually, if he had asked them. It would have given her a chance to perhaps clarify her high-horsed statements or correct them.
She is just jumping from one obsession to another.

I’ve been avoiding watching the interview because I didn’t want to be confused by what may be said. Something in me said don’t watch. I’m a follower of the interviewer and I really like and respect him but I didn’t want to go there. I totally agree with you that if someone says a thing and tries to make me think I was mistaken or that I’m being unfair, well… Thank you for giving me a pass for not watching it, Rakeedah. I probably would have gone down a rabbit hole and would still be tryna dig myself out and nobody got time for that!
It's not worth it. It was a fluff piece. He didn't ask her any questions to clarify the ways she tried to school people and act all enlightened. It was a missed opportunity for an actual interview and nothing more than an opportunity for him to get heaps of her subscribers. For that, I can't blame him. I wouldn't have passed up that opportunity.

I’m so glad you posted this, Rakeedah. I love Caleb but I just could not watch that video. The original video that she posted just put me off so badly. I knew I couldn’t sit through another round. Feel like there’s definitely a “sell all your luxury” bandwagon out there, and influencers are jumping on for attention and money. I won’t be doing any such thing ever (and I’m firm on that!), but they’re free to do whatever they want with theirs! 😂

I didn’t watch the interview - I guess I didn’t want to risk marring my image of him. Rakeedah, I love listening to you as you're totally authentic and a smart woman. The key word is "accountability!" Too many people don't know that word today and I think is a huge issue (in general) with society today. Hey, none of us are angels and we all make mistakes, BUT, dang when so off, take accountability and then how easy it is to just move on. I think some people love negative attention.

Niki was never part of the luxury community. She is an influencer who makes her living from UA-cam and is pivoting to keep her audience as they've moved past luxury bags (or can't afford it due to the economy) and are now on the quiet luxury/minimalism wave.

I got through about fifteen minutes of that interview and was bored out of my damn mind. I looooooooooove luxury. I love luxury things, luxury UA-cam, insta, influencers… All of it! Guess what? That’s just me! I have some friends who love luxury. I have some friends who don’t. This is for ME. Like you, I don’t care who doin what with what. Worry about yoself and I’ll worry about me while I’m at LV, Chanel, Fendi… whatever. 🤣🤣🤣 People just need to let people do what they want as long as it’s not hurting anyone else. This is why I don’t follow many larger fashion creators. Idk anyone in real life who spends $2k+ consistently just to flex on people they don’t know. I kinda do what I want and sometimes people do I I feel like if it works for me maybe I’ll give something I’ll try. But I don’t need to know I don’t. I’m I’m 56 going on 57. I’m a breast cancer survivor not the best whatever the things I do I’m trying to do try to be happy and kind and life one day at a time so this is a very tough time for me in life and I sweat and small stuff like strangers.
