"Magic Johnson fed Larry Bird the ball probably about 8 or 9 times in a row" has to be the most frightening sentence ever uttered in all of basketball.

That last story about Bird shows exactly what he was all about and what he would do to win.
The day after winning the NBA championship Bird was out there training for the following year.
He didn't take time off, he didn't manage his workload - he trained, played and gave 100% all the time.

You have to keep in mind the stories these players tell are when they are older, wiser and not as driven by team rivalries. There were team rivalries back when Magic and Bird were playing and that's what made that era so special. The current NBA is driven by Super roosters not teams.

Patrick Ewing said "for a guy who cant jump he is demolishing everybody."
Larry Birds passes are money in the bank as if he shot the ball himself. He was a scoring machine with his clutch shot or incredible passes to a wide open celtic.
Larry Bird was different no other player did the things he did.

Len Marvellous Bias gotta watch it he would have been a more athletic TMac in the 80s. Celtics front office legend Red Aurbauch swindled the league and somehow had the #2 pick right after they won in '86. If Len didn't die right after getting drafted, he would have the greatest Celtic team of all time next to him and would have been a 6'9 MJ for them, most likely keeping Bird and McHale healthier too. Imo Bird has 6 rings if Bias lives. They said he overdosed with his friends but there wasn't any drugs in his system during the autopsy. 😮 He was still pretty raw and didn't rlly have ball handling and passing in college but would forsure improve there. He already had a great high vert jumper and was just a man amongst boys in size and athleticism.

Len Bias is a very interesting "What if." Very sad that he died. Would make a very good movie screenplay.

Yes, Larry wrote with his left hand... but for shooting baskets (and most other tasks) he was right-hand dominant.

Larry would take crazy shots every now and them to amuse himself during a game. Left hand 3 off glass, catch and shoot on one foot.

  • @jackasswhiskyandpintobeans9344

31:53 Older now, I realize Issaih Thomas was just trying to get an edge and I respect him for that.

  • @jackasswhiskyandpintobeans9344

29:44 The Piston Celtic rivalry was red hot steel back then. All the players on both teams were tough first and skillful secondarily when they played.

The Dream Team's coach literally sabotaged the first game against the college guys. He did it because they all had egos on the Dream Team, and he had to take them down a notch, so they would work together, and leave the egos behind.

Larry BIrd looking like Big BIrd, but he the most savage man to play. It's not just a few players telling these stories of being told how they'd get cooked, it's everyone from back in the day, over and over again. I loved Dennis Rodamn, but he's a good example of why you shouldn't do drugs.

Larry Bird is probably not ambidextrous. It's a term that's often misunderstood. It actually means you can do something equally well with both hands. While Bird obviously did a lot of work to elevate his left-handed game to a very high level, he still had a natural preference for the right hand while playing sports.
The accurate term for this is cross-dominance, which means you have a preference to do some things with one side and other things with the opposite side. I know this because I'm the same way. I write left-handed and kick with my left foot but I use my right hand in all sports, musical instruments, etc. True ambidextrous ability is extremely rare. Cross-dominance is a more common form of using different hands that is often mislabeled.

I used to be ambidextrous, but broke my right hand in 3rd grade, so now I only write with my left. I can switch hit, play pool either way, but throwing a ball, my right hand is better. I learned guitar right handed, because left handed guitars are more expensive, but play air guitar left handed. 😂😂😂

Kemp saying that Bird gave him 50 in 3qrts reminds me of Kobe giving Dallas 62 in 3qrts. He outscored they whole team thru the first 3 qrts !!! 😂

I've been at one party where Rodman happened to be present and holding court while doing his thing, hella years ago, only to see Rodman on The View or one of these morning shows not even two weeks later talking about how long he's achieved all this sober time to great audience applause lmao. I'm not against anyone partying however they want but Rodman is one of those dudes whose brain stays lit like Ozzy Osborne.

Saw Bird play only once when the Celtics came to Oakland. The Warriors were pretty bad at the time and my Father and I were there to see Bird like pretty much everyone else in the Arena. Bird played 37 minutes and scored zero points. Don't get me wrong. Bird does many other things besides scoring. Look it up: 1/2/1981.

If Bird played in today's soft ass league, where players get butt hurt from what people say, Bird would lead the NBA in ejections and technical fouls. Back in his day, players would fake injuries so they wouldn't have to check Bird. Today, players would do the same. Bird would easily average 35 -10 - 10 and lead his team into the finals every year.

Why I stopped watching the NBA after the early 2000. I've done seen the greats of our time. 😂😂😂 Today's NBA is lazy playing with no heart except from a few players and only watching a few players is not worth my time. Bird was an assassin and these young bucks don't know 💩. 😂😂😂
