This was a really informative video and answered a lot of questions I had about layering, which is a fashion technique I have recently have been trying. I have lost 70 pounds in the last 18 months and prior to the weight loss, was always too overheated to layer at all! 😂 Thank you. PS. Don't bother with the snarky people and their snarky comments.
Why a person feels the need to say they are bored with content makes no sense. If a video is not for you move on. Constructive comments critique or suggestions dont need to be snark. I happen to love all of the verbal instruction but I understand some dont learn that way. In that case the shorts are your friend…thank you Kristin!!
I was excited to watch your video when I saw the caption about how to layer tops but I was really hoping you would speak to layering tips for how to wear sweaters (not cardigans or blazers) over shirts or other sweaters. The look I like is when you see a bit at the neck, at the bottom, and sometimes at the wrists but my problem is either the neckline isn’t high enough to pop through or the bottom pop is so long that I want to take scissors to it! Anyway, I did learn some things in your video even though I don’t own any blazers. Perhaps you might consider doing a video on what I just mentioned? Just a thought…thank you.
I’ll keep that in mind for future videos! Thanks. Honestly, I find that layering shirts (woven with a collar) under sweaters is often a nuisance so I opt for open-front layers instead. What you shared is exactly my frustration with it. So I avoid it!
@@KristenCainStyleoh well that explains a lot, it just happens, and it happens to many others, so I’m not alone! So what’s left for me is Joy, doing what i want, less stinkin thinkin
Very helpful video! Definitely have been avoiding my cardigans this winter because nothing seems to work with them. Heading to my closet now and I am going to figure out why they haven’t been working 👍🏻
Thank you! Very practical. Layering in the winter is essential where I live. This helps me better understand how to construct an outfit that will work better.
Thanks so much for your tips on layering. I am cold natured and so layering is important for me. Sometimes I would layer and then ask, "Why does this outfit look so blah?" I've written the notes on my phone and when I layer I will pay attention to what you have shared. Love it! Thanks again!
I love your videos. You may not think you're an influencer but I can't tell you how many times I've taken a screenshot of your items and found them online to purchase used! I got your white Quince blouse on Poshmark right after you showed it.
Could you talk a little about how you organize your clothing? What you fold vs hang? I have an older h9me with small, closets and have thing in two different rooms which sometimes makes it hard for me to see possibilities
I've always struggled with layering. Sometimes I get it right, sometimes not so much. This really helped me to think about the pieces I buy in advance when considering winter layers
Great video on layering Kristen. You made it seem so effortless with very basic concepts. I love the mix of new pieces with thrifted quality pieces. Question...I struggle with button down shirts which I didn't see in your collection. I find they are bulky under crew neck sweaters. Do you have any suggestions on the best way to layer them with sweaters, blazers etc.? Thanks 🙂
Welcome back! I hope you had a wonderful holiday with your family. Very timely topic, I am thinking about my layers for today to be able to remove as the day warms up. I live in Mesa, AZ where we are in our beautiful weather days. They start out cool, sometimes cold then warms up to light weight long sleeves. Thank you for your great explanations.
Thanx, that was helpful ... I guess I have been doing the simple layering you showed ... and where I am more d is with mixing patterns and vibes ... but I do have fun with it. So it is all good ... right?
Great video and perfect timing! We are in the mist of a cold spell in SW Florida 45 degrees this morning, but 70 now so I need to layer. Usually it's only when I'm going to a restaurant that I need to layer. I almost always wear a dress when going out for dinner and use a shawl. I have 3, 1 off white, I beige, and 1 muted pastel pattern that work with all my dresses. Shawls don't work when shopping or around the house so I appreciated the tips!
Thank you Kristen, great help!! I especially like to hear about where you buy the items. It's so hard to find good quality clothes at a reasonable price. I still find it difficult to buy online as I've gained weight and really don't know what looks good until I try it on.
Thank you for really breaking this down in practical terms. So helpful. Just a little frustration though…if you have any influence with the brand Quince….I want to purchase their items as I like the quality for the price and their values ( more natural fibres) all why you really like them… my frustration with finding particularly sweaters for myself is 1) they offer more ‘camel’ shades for the lighter ‘beige’ colors. The warmer ‘beige’ doesn’t work for me. And then when they do a ‘cream’ the cream is too stark. I would prefer more of a true oatmeal color. Any other color then is too dark for what I want like the chocolate brown. 2) Even if they offered the color that worked, then the length of almost all their sweaters are WAY TOO LONG. I am petite in height but not in size. If they even just offered some truly cropped styles they might work. I think they might have one crop sweater or cardigan but it’s not really that cropped. To me it’s actually just a ‘normal’ length. Many are either very streamline and close to the body and long or they are super oversized in shape and also too long. Finding a cardigan that is truly cropped in the right color and fibre is next to impossible. Sigh.
Do you ever wear/layer vests? I have a couple that I like to layer over sweaters or long sleeve Ts, or even over a jean jacket. In Montana, it's COLD. Layering is my game in winter months.
( I tried that quince peasant blouse and returned it. It was oddly stiff, uncomfortable and the sleeves were very short on me. However, I really like their v neck cotton/cashmere blend sweater. )
Thank you Kristen! That was very informative, especially with the examples. This maybe a simple question and maybe silly, but with all those sheer(ish) white blouses you showed in the beginning, what would you recommend wearing under those if you are wearing in the warmer seasons? A tan tank or a white tank? I feel like I cannot seem to find the right item to wear underneath as most white blouses are too sheer for my personal preference because I carry a bit more weight in the middle, so even if I Iike the pretty white blouses you showed I am not able to wear them. White tanks underneath just feel/look odd to me. Not sure if that is confusing. Appreciate all your videos. Thanks again!
I'm not sure what Kristen's answer will be, but I always wear a light beige camisole/tank under white. It's just like wearing undies close to your skin tone under white pants.
I really want to try the Quince cotton cashmere. I am not able to wear wool due to the itchy feeling. Do you have this issue with the Quince cotton cashmere?
I’ve really struggled with this. I have an adorable bright red knit blazer but it doesn’t layer. It’s too short. I’m 4’11” with almost no space between my ribs and hip so high waisted are correct. I wear high waist bottoms but the jacket just looks too small and child like. I’ve found a long/longer cardigan/jacket works much better. Haven’t found the sweet spot yet though 😂
Totally agree with Susan2349. I have too many things in my closet that I don’t wear. Would love to see ideas on many different ways to wear a Channel-type jacket. I am newly retired and don’t know how to incorporate it into my wardrobe which is now very, very casual.
So much good content. For me, it would have been so much more helpful to understand how the layering works with bottoms. Ie would how and what you layer differ with straight leg jeans vs a more casual pant or what if your wearing a dress pant or a skirt?
Perhaps you should have listened a few more seconds for the examples to start and if you don't like the video, why not just move on. The negativity is unhelpful and unnecessary.
I really appreciate the suggestions in your video , but would like to see you ( or visuals of someone else) demonstrating the different suggestions….e.g. before and after. Otherwise the narrative is a bit too pacy and wordy . Thanks
This is my first time watching and I wish you would start right off the bat with an example and then do your spiel. It’s taking too long to get to the point for me.
As you go along with making videos, one thing that would help (I have the same need) is to work towards becoming more concise. I am finding making 3 points is enough. And the formula "Here are 3 things I am going to teach you." Then teach the 3 things, Then "I just taught you these 3 things." works beautifully. It's something to aim for so you don't say " The top of this peasant blouse is too fussy for the blazer 3+ times like you did here. An outline can help you stay on track. Not to give up your wonderful relaxed and informal style, but to make it easier for your audience to hear and retain your content. This is something that I need to learn, and maybe it's not for you. But I think clarity and being concise are definitely ways for women to show their expertise more effectively. Ha ha! See what I mean?

finally found a channel of a woman with a relaxed vibed that is not sloppy. can't wait to go back and watch your prior videos.
This! Yes. I love all the great information that is very clearly explained, as well. ❤

I love you style and simplicity. But it did take a long time to get to the point 😊
Great points! Love your Chanel! 😊❤
Love this, thank you for sharing. ❤

Happy New Year, thank you for your layering tips, a chilly day here in the UK. Layers under and over, that's before adding a coat to go out😅

How do you care for your cashmere sweaters? Wash on delicate? Dryer cleaner kits? Hand wash?

Same here!
I use vests over my sweaters too. And a blue jean sleeveless dress for a vest .
Do you have a video about your curls? They look great! ❤
Thanks, excellent
Thank you! ❤
Helpful indeed! I struggle most with pairing outfits with shoes.

Kristen, do you ever wear hoodies? Or fleece lounge wear?
The best video about layering I had ever watched. I especially appreciate the casual vibe layering tips. Thank you
Thank you for this very helpful layering tips! I suppose that layering a shirt falls in the category of the blouses?
The peasant blouse is my style. I was interesting to see different ways to layer it.

I would like to see layering under blouses or sweaters, like turtle necks , or things like sleeveless sweaters.
I have found that by mid day I’m de layering….layers are perfect for outside when it’s 5 degrees but not so wonderful inside at 70.
What size are you in the cardigan Quince sweater??
The demonstration starts 10 minutes into the video.

Anything would look great on you, the tall slender body I wished I had😉
would love to see the clothes on you at the end
What brand is the v neck white blouse at about the halfway point?
14:00
What about a trucker jacket? I think that would look good with one or two of those boho type of blouses.

Quince doesn't ship to the UK.
8 min in and I can’t listen anymore- try showing examples for tactile learning. Fashion is a visual art
She started showing at 8:10. Sometimes I just move that video along and skip the chat.
I'm glad it wasn't just me. I wanted to turn this off. Maybe show example as you explain sorry just sounds like ramblings
Omgee we’re not dumb. The intro is ridiculous
