It looks really enjoyable to ride on the ferry. It's really beautiful down at the OBX. I was down there once with my parents back in 1989. We stayed at the Cape Hatteras Motel on Highway 12 in Buxton. I walked on the beach every morning to the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse. I never had the opportunity to climb up to the top of the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse. We rode the ferry to from Cape Hatteras to Ocracoke. I really enjoyed that. We went in July the year we went.
Yeah, not the only way to Ocracoke. Two more routes from the mainland run to the Island. One from Cedar island, the other from Swanquarter. Both aren't free though. The Hatteras/Ocracoke run is free. From an Outer Banks resident....
Oh I'm aware of those 2 routes. I've taken the Ocracoke - Cedar Island ferry when I went to Harker's Island years ago to visit Cape Lookout Light. I meant for a visitor from the northern Outer Banks, this is basically your only way to Ocracoke.
Cool vid..down there check out the Frying Pan bed and breakfast. 43 miles off the coast. Thers vids on it and think its a good spot to film. Out in middle of ocean .

I would strongly recommend a trip to Seattle one day and take the ferries there, experience of a lifetime.
