At my grandparents' house, we had an open well from where we used to draw water for household purposes. It used to have hundreds of glass shrimp . No one knows where it came from. This was around 30 years back when keeping shrimps in aquarium was not common.
I’ve recently just discover your channel and you have sparked my love for aquatics again. Ive had a single tank for years now and you have inspired me to start a pea puffer tank that I’ve fallen in love with. Keep doing what you do. You are a true inspiration
I just bought 6 corys and 7 Kuhli loaches from you! I love them. I’m adding them into their new homes in 20mins. I was so excited to meet you! Thank you! Hopefully I can come back again to grab some shrimp!
Just started my first colony for breeding to sell, bought a pack of 10, month later down to 6 adults but probably 100 + babies of different sizes. Absolutely fun
amazing video! i totally felt it when you mentioned, shrimp tanks look the best when there are 100s instead of 5. keep up the great work and cant wait till the next video!
I love this guys attitude towards raising fish. Very useful information and entertaining to watch! ❤ best of luck with your fish business and YT channel! 🤞👍
Wish I learned about substrates before making their tanks. I bought some painted red that actually looked like low grade cherrys but after a couple weeks in my tank they started getting that deeper color back. In my other tank I got some really beautiful deep blue carbon shrimp but after a couple weeks some started turning transparent. I was told they needed darker substrate.
here in Canada I've conditioned my Cherry shrimp to survive in my backyard pond year round and I personally breed hundreds maybe thousand in 10 - 25 gal used aquariums. I keep my breeding stocks at around 16 to 26 degrees Celsius. I originally got 10 for 5 CND each and had 4 of them die within the first week but I just kept breeding them and now I have thousands.
I'm making a patio pond that will be around 200 gallons. Do you think that's enough water to keep cherries alive over winter on South Vancouver Island? We have the odd cold snap... The water would probably dip as low as 8 degrees or so. I could throw a heater in to ensure it stays at 16 or higher? It would be awesome to have some little pond shrimp. I just want them to be happy/healthy, though. It's not worth it if they're suffering for 8 months of the year.
@@steve-adams I wouldn't put them in this year but if you spent this year breeding them in colder and colder conditions and introduced a large group slowly in the spring by the time winter comes around you should be fine but be prepared for large die offs some will likely survive though if you do it this way.
from what ive read and also from my own experience, yellow golden back are kinda sensitive. even if you transfer them to other tanks with the same parameter, they tend to die. it took time to establish a colony for them.
dude those are like the only color morph i cannot keep alive for the life of me. always only last about 1-2 weeks. GH is spot on, lots of biofilm. i don't get it. might give them a shot again
I keep only cherry shrimp, but they are very hardy! I have 3 separate colonies in ponds in my backyard, i use them as food for my Fahaka puffer and i can scoop them up from the outdoor ponds and put them directly into the 180gal in my dinning room. The tank temp stays between 70f and 78f and the pond temperatures vary depending on time of year, but range from 50f to 90f and i plop the cherries straight into the tank with no problems! I wouldn't suggest doing this if you are just starting out and only have a few shrimp, but once the colony gets going, you don't have to baby these shrimp!
Just got about 10+pcs of juvenile blue dreams last week. Can't wait to have them multiply just like my fire reds, yellow cherrys and Yellow golden backs.
25 degrees is a bit warm. They can totally handle it, but I find 23 is optimal. With the drip acclimation I'd try to have it running at 1 drip per second. A knot is cool, but I've used an airline adjustable valve tap to get finer control of the drip rate.
good video, like the plants idea, i have a 9 tank racking system just for my shrimp, i keep blues, yellows, reds, rili and snowballs and a few cull tanks. trying to see if i can get high grade stuff. just as a hobby not for money, love keeping shrimp
I started with 20, now I have at least 100, probably 150-200 and probably a dozen berried rn 2 months later. I've been thinking about bagging up 1-200 in another month or 2 and trading em for store credit to get a dedicated breeding setup from my lfs to start selling em :D
I recently purchased 10 cherry shrimps and put them in a 22L community tank that has a male betta and 4 cardinals. Apparently the majority of them didn't make it as they just vanished in a couple of days... I may get another 10 or 20 as you recommended and put them in a separate tank and see how they go. The issue is that I only have a spare betta tank which is 7L. It comes with a in tank filter and a preset temp heater. Would it suitable for 10 or 20 cherry shrimps?
You never scope the shrimp? Oh because is taken from your tank that why you just release the water with the shrimp to your other tank after Drip Acclimation. SO If get new shrimp from others, is best Drip Acclimation for how long and is better to scope the shrimp to the tank?
How long do they mate for? I have a pair I am worried about lol 😂 haven't moved much since this morning, but antennas are moving. Just chillin on each other.
Hello again, I was wondering if you plan on shipping to Western Australia sometime. The last time I asked, all I got was a hearted comment, so if you could answer, that would be great
Hi, it's Kelly from across the pond in the U.S. Your videos on how to breed Bettas got me hooked and am doing very well with those. I have a question when wholesaling the shrimp what do you charge converted to U.S. dollars or cents. I'll Probably do that as well if profitable. Also can we purchase your Bug Buffet over here in the States.??? . Thank You Kelly Walton
Dude its crazy to hear how the shrimp are fragile in a new tank. I bought mine in town, put their water bags in my backpack, went grocery shopping with them, then wore the backpack with the shrimp and guppy 35 minutes over a winding and bumpy road to my home. The temp was 80F and the water test came back good so i just put them straight in. I didn't lose a single shrimp.
question from a noob; I just bought a few shrimp (red ones, not sure of further details) and put them in a bg jar with live plants aquasoil and the blakc carbon filter stuff...But the water is probably cold/colder than what you recommend (20+c)....what do I do? Will they freeze? I got told these can survive easily in colder water temps but now im scared :( I want them to breed some day (I assume some will die due to me being a beginner)....what can I do? I already put a lamp above it but its LED and not really THAt hot or anything...
I watched a video of a pro shrimp breeder who sells his shrimp to the public in Singapore. He said he's very careful with Sulawesi because even if you use a net to try to herd them closer to the glass, they can freak out and die which is exactly what the guy tried to do. One shrimp freaked out and died RIGHT THERE! The camera guy who was also interviewing the guy said he was gonna leave the room but the guy told him to stay because they're freaking sensitive that one will eventually die from sheer fright.
Can anyone help i have used my carp fishing pellets to feed my corys and when ever i put the pellets in they lay egg even if i feed it everyday whats going onn
At my grandparents' house, we had an open well from where we used to draw water for household purposes. It used to have hundreds of glass shrimp . No one knows where it came from. This was around 30 years back when keeping shrimps in aquarium was not common.
That's cool
ah u were lucky
I’ve recently just discover your channel and you have sparked my love for aquatics again. Ive had a single tank for years now and you have inspired me to start a pea puffer tank that I’ve fallen in love with. Keep doing what you do. You are a true inspiration
I love how you put this hobby in a simple, humble and healthy way.
I just bought 6 corys and 7 Kuhli loaches from you! I love them. I’m adding them into their new homes in 20mins. I was so excited to meet you! Thank you!
Hopefully I can come back again to grab some shrimp!

Mate you have come leaps and bounds from your early videos. Keep up the great work.
He truly started u tube when he was a kid. He's come a long way and still as enthusiastic or maybe more so as a young adult
I love this guys attitude towards raising fish. Very useful information and entertaining to watch! ❤ best of luck with your fish business and YT channel! 🤞👍
Some people ask for more but you already do so much I would like to see someone breed fish like you.thx
You deserve so many more subscribers then you actually got bro keep up the awesome work !!!
Snail shells work well too, I just add one or two from the garden to a 100L, slowly dissloves and makes KH go up a bit but not spike.
Great video Nick! I'll bring you something to try with your shrimp tomorrow when I come into the shop, I think they will like it 🙂
I added 1 male and 6 females, he turned up to be a stud. I have over 100 shrimps in like 3 months
Same haha but 1 male and 4 females

What a stuningly gorgeous ma... shrimp!
Me too! I want to get some yellow and orange shrimp going too! I have red and blue already.
Id love a list of the plants we can use to grow out of the top of the tank, thanks for the video!
Just got about 10+pcs of juvenile blue dreams last week. Can't wait to have them multiply just like my fire reds, yellow cherrys and Yellow golden backs.
I was just running between my tanks taking photos of my shrimp explosion over the last few months, love them. 🦐 🖤

Waiting for the Bichir breeding video. ❤
Great video BTW.
How to mix water and to messure the salinity? Thanks
Thanks for the info. Gonna try to get my red shrimp to breed again.
Neon pothos, not golden golden pothos, is a regular green with yellow verigation but other then that this video was very helpful thank you
Breeding some cherries outside in a storage container. Got 10 of them today :)
Would these shrimp be able to climb out of the tank using the plant cuttings?
bro breeds shrimps when he doesnt play the violin
good video, like the plants idea, i have a 9 tank racking system just for my shrimp, i keep blues, yellows, reds, rili and snowballs and a few cull tanks. trying to see if i can get high grade stuff. just as a hobby not for money, love keeping shrimp
What do you use for lids for your tanks?
looking forward to seeing the yellows on the website
Can you put shrimp in a tank with a Betta and bosmani rainbow
It's so funny when we get so confused trying to convert C° to F° hahaha because the whole world uses C° besides the US
I'm rooting for your success
thanks, you inspired me to start my own fish breeding hobby!
Any update on your yellows? I can bring you a few of mine again, if you need some to kickstart a colony
So nice to be learning from you again!!!🎉
Can you make a video and breed mix some bristlenose colors and see what you get after 100 days?
What kind of light are you using?
Once you go shrimp , you never go limp 😂
what did u feed them? and how often?
Started with a 10 pack of red cherry shrimp. My tank exploded and I have hundreds upon hundreds.
I started with 20, now I have at least 100, probably 150-200 and probably a dozen berried rn 2 months later. I've been thinking about bagging up 1-200 in another month or 2 and trading em for store credit to get a dedicated breeding setup from my lfs to start selling em :D
I went and got shrimp myself after seeing your last video
sorry but i saw you add spider plant that plant also safe and good for shrip and fish?
Just got some red cherries and some blue dreams. Thank goodness this video is out now😂
It's fun finding a whole bunch of plant you never knew you had! ^^
are those 2x4 stands treated? Isn't that unsafe indoors?
Just curious, is there any possibility that bristlenose or baby bristlenose to eat baby shrimp?
Hi dude I wanted to know if they would breed in the jar that you mentioned at the beginning of your video
Ive a berried shrimp, I've segregated her but i need to know what % of salt to freshwater i need to put the young in after they've hatched

Your shrimp aren’t just vanishing they are getting eaten, bettas are stupidly territorial and killers 90 percent of the time💀😂

Do u recommend to mix different types of shrimp in a tank ?
Do you mean by color? No difference but the kids will be duller
Carolina and neocaridina have different needs
bro dont you check the tds before making the shrip tank coz most of my shrimps had high tds of 350 yet still had molting problem
Are they good to eat
Good job with the informative video!
Bro i cant find the video were yu was talkin bout the lil worms that come out in the tanks that can kill the shrimps what was that powder called
I keep seeing Micks SAS Food in your videos and I really want it for my tanks! Would you ever consider shipping that as well?
How long do they mate for? I have a pair I am worried about lol 😂 haven't moved much since this morning, but antennas are moving. Just chillin on each other.
Wioo first
Love your content BTW! Thanks for sharing
We are paying $10 each for those cherry shrimp up here in central Queensland
Do adult shrimp eat some of the newly hatched shrimp?
what are the plants?
5:34 is it Oryzias latipes?
Are filterless tank setup suitable for shrimp breeding?
Yep, just throw in loads of plants. I breed mine in outdoor tubs with lots of guppy grass or hornworts.
Hello again, I was wondering if you plan on shipping to Western Australia sometime. The last time I asked, all I got was a hearted comment, so if you could answer, that would be great
Can they be cross breeding? Red + Blue for example, will the babies have 2 colours?

It’s called “drip acclimation” and it’s not needed for shrimp. Other then that; nice tank setups.
Dude its crazy to hear how the shrimp are fragile in a new tank.

What plants ?
You read my mind.

Great video!
Please do sulawesi shrimps next, they require hard water similiar to neo caridinas but more sensitive to water parameter swings. Anyways great video!
I watched a video of a pro shrimp breeder who sells his shrimp to the public in Singapore. In fact, it all happens by itself without our intervention

Hey, random question here… what type of pen do you use to write on the tanks? 😂
Paint marker is my guess
I love these videos

Haha the plants are out of control. Each video they are growing longer and more varied you’re going to end up with a jungle back there
I notice when I turn off the lights for a couple days. The females become more frequently pregnant. Is this something right?
love my cherry shrimp 🥰
I NEED MORE SHRIMP VIDEOS. CAN'T TURN OFF CAPS
Should breed all three colors
Informative video! 11:33
