  • Ruggles Mine in Grafton, NH has been closed as a public attraction since their final open house on Saturday, June 18, 2016 (7+ years). The mine property was later purchased in 2019. Some mineral club collecting, sightseeing and drone racing events have occurred since the 2019 purchase. The drone racing was AWESOME!
I put this video together on July 4, 2023 at Ruggles Mine. Some was filmed in the morning until it started raining. I then went back after it cleared up to get the more sunny clips. I was up there much of the afternoon with owner. On that day I discovered trespassers parked at the locked gate upon arrival. I didn't embarrass them in this video though.
I am in hopes that we can start seeing productive commercial operation at Ruggles that will allow the reopening of this historic mineral locality to both mineral clubs and possibly the public. There are some scenarios that can help expose new material, maintain the mining roads and position Ruggles Mine for future success.
In June of 2023, a mortgagee's notice of foreclosure sale was posted which specified a public auction at July 21, 2023 at 11:00 am on the Ruggles Mine property. No matter what, I think most everybody here in the New England mineral collecting community wants to see commercial success and a formal reopening of some sort. People who have been on the various mineral and sightseeing tours (and Drone Racing event) I have held over the past few years at Ruggles know that myself and many others are committed to this place's future success regardless of who owns the land. UPDATE!!! July 19, 2023, the Ruggles Mine property has been sold to new owners. Stay tuned to this channel for the updates that will be coming soon on Ruggles Mine. LIKE and SUBSCRIBE!!!
PLEASE DO NOT SHOW UP AT RUGGLES MINE AND WALK UP THE HILL TO "PREVIEW" THE PROPERTY AHEAD OF THE AUCTION DATE OR AFTER. IF THE GATE IS CLOSED AND LOCKED, ABIDE BY THE "NO TRESPASSING" SIGNS. THERE ARE MONITORED CAMERAS ONSITE.
For now, please enjoy this quick video tour of some of Ruggles Mine.

Kinda kicking myself for never going in when they were open and I was living in the area. I had no idea what the complex was like. Now that it has new owners working on reopening I'm a bit older, a bit worse for wear and a very long drive away. The view from the parking lot is stunning and the workings you show are very impressive. Really appreciate the tour!👍👍

@@MidnightMinerals Did you check out my slideshows, channel? I have thin sections from the summit of Mt. Major, Alton, and microscopy from Mt. Major and the Madison boulder, and now microscopy of a stone from Katahdin, Maine. All showing glass. Glass is only on meteorite surfaces, the moon in the most likely source for slow moving giant meteorites. 2 strewn fields, that one, and one that fell during hurricane Edna, right after Carol, 1954, Much smaller, but 900 sq. miles minimum, thousands, millions of damaged trees with glass, rock fragments smeared, deposited on them. It's very simple science, very easy to find and reproduce. Just an oversight in Geography/Geology, that I noticed. Might have landed on top of glacier, but nothing obvious in very deep till layers that says "Glacial/fluvial grinding/smoothing" Check it out, it's shocking, wicked cool!

@@MidnightMinerals I was planning on checking out the surface of Ruggles Mine Mountain after checking out Madison Boulder, but then I heard of the Lithium discovery and started looking at hikers videos all over NH and ME and just stuck close to home and went to Mt. Major. I've been stuck taking care of Mom, 97 dementia, so haven't had much time for getting out and doing more research...
