A tip for cotton yarn not being to stiff: I often crochet with cotton yarn and I would recommend blocking your project to give it the shape that you want. When it's a granny square wearable you can either block the squares before constructing (sewing them together) and then block it sligthly (like a soft spray with som water, not fully drenched) or block it directly after construction.
Careful not to stretch it to much when blocking!
I also see other people writing about gauge, and hook size. Let's say you are using a small hook for a thin yarn and you crochet tightly, maybe you don't have to use such a small hook. When it comes to wearables, I also think it's good to think about if you want the whole top to be covering all that it covers, or if it is just some parts that maybe just need some reinforcements. I crocheted a top that was gorgeous but the nips were showing and I didn't want that, so I just crocheted two triangles and sewed them on the inside to cover the breasts. The top looked the same and I could use the top as intended.

I find with cotton yarns that going up a hook size will give the fabric more room to wiggle and washing it a few times will give the fabric a chance to loosen up and fill any gaps from going up a hook size. Swatching is probably the key but nobody wants to hear that LOL

Hi Anna! I made a total of like, 52 things, and I think my 5 favorites were, crochet flower square overalls, regular granny square overalls, a fall colored granny square cardigan, another granny square cardigan and a rainbow skirt and bucket hat.
I found crocheting in July of 2021, I started in October or November of 2021 after watching lots of videos about it. I found the channel and I watch you almost every day and it just feels like I have a crocheting buddy to crochet with. I started hy makes weird looking octopus's and frogs to blankets bags, and big plushies and you inspired it so much! 2022 was a good and bad year for me and I hope 2023 will bring better things. And more crochet things 😂😂 ily all ❤️❤️
I've been crocheting for a few years now on and off but I really picked it back up in the fall - I made my sister a sun and moon granny square tote bag and I was SO proud of it, it was my first time blocking my crochet, plus I sewed in a lining, it just looked so professional and it got me super excited to crochet and knit again - I've made like 6 projects this year so far!
You have had a very successful year with your crochet and knitting. You are an amazing artist with yarn. So many beautiful items that you made. Hey I recommend a wool blend, I’ve been using Hobbii’s tweed delight and it doesn’t fall apart. Like I’ve pulled and tugged it’s pretty tough!!
